Is the Sam Flynn Light Disc still going to be produced? We saw a short video on the production blog a while ago and nothing since. Can you let us know if it’s still coming, and when it might be available for pre-order?

We are in fact developing lots of Tron Legacy products. Not only the Sam Flynn Light Disc set, but also a 1:4 scale Lightcycle and an as-of-yet-unannounced 1:4 scale villain too. Because the light features are so essential to Tron, we need additional time to work out all of the engineering and functionality on our products before they are ready for their big reveal. We may be able to show some of them at San Diego Comic-Con, or perhaps soon after the show.

Are there any plans to release prop replicas from the Disney animated line? I know premium format figures are the main focus, but I can’t help but hope for things like Jafar’s staff from Aladdin, or the magic lamp or flying carpet for that matter. King Triton’s trident or Ursula’s shell necklace would both be amazing as well.

Interesting ideas, but we have no plans for Disney props at the moment. We believe eFX is producing some items like this for Disney?

I’m loving your animated Disney line. The Evil Queen and Hook are absolute home runs. Can you give a hint what might be next on the list? We want more!!

Some girls aren’t bad they’re just drawn that way. Some are always drawn to apples, juicy delicious and dangerous apples.

The Evil Queen Premium Format is absolutely stunning, but she is missing the perfect companion piece. How much longer will we have to wait for an announcement of a matching Snow White PF? Also, has development work started on other big, popular classic characters, like Belle, the Beast, Ariel, Jasmine, Aladdin and Jessica Rabbit?

Fair question, but we haven’t yet begun work on any of the traditional princess or hero characters of animated fame. We will share, and discuss, your interest with our development group.

How come we’re only seeing Premium Formats of animated villains and not heroes in the Disney line? The classic heroes (and princesses) are much bigger icons than the villains!

Sideshow started work in partnership with Disney with a focus on villains, believing that villains fit best with the existing Sideshow portfolio and customer base. We’re thrilled to receive interest in seeing more of the classic animated characters brought to life, and we are actively considering how best to accomplish just that.

I must say I was somewhat disappointed after seeing the Comic-Con 2010 video for the Disney Premium Format line. I was really hoping to hear word about a classic Princess line being in development, starting with Belle, the Beast and Snow White, to match up with our villains. Or, failing that, at least seeing some initial drawings/sculpting of a Jessica Rabbit PF. All of these appeared in the very first Disney video to announce the line and was always what I was most excited to see. How much longer of a wait will it be till my wish is fulfilled?

We’ve been toying with design ideas for bringing Princesses into our portfolio, but have yet to lock onto a satisfying design tact. Jessica Rabbit has moved into sculpture, and looks…stunning. We’ll share more with you soon!

Are there any plans to make any more Little Mermaid products featuring Ariel? I saw King Triton and Ursula, but Ariel would be fantastic.

Davy Jones has a lot of fans in the Sideshow office. Unfortunately, he’s been a slow seller for other collectible companies – which frightens us a bit because he’s such a complex character, demanding a big development investment. We’re determined to bring him to life in one format or another, which may mean we go with a format that’s a little less demanding than PF to test the waters on our own DJ sales.

I am a proud owner of the 1:1 Rocketeer helmet from another great company (R.I.P.). Do you have any plans to release a life-size Rocketeer (metal) jetpack or is the fanbase too small for such a costly item?

I’ve heard that the animated character Disney Premium Format line is planned to only be the villains. While the villains are great, and the Evil Queen PF is totally fantastic, please tell me that non-villains are in development as well? Belle, the Beast, Jessica Rabbit and of course, Snow White, just have to be made, or what’s the point?

It’s true – our original licensing agreement with Disney called for just the live-action film characters and animated villains. We have expanded those rights, with strong intent on Jessica Rabbit and others. We’ll DEFINITELY pass along your Disney Princess recommendations.
