After seeing the very nice and affordable Tupuxuara, I was wondering if one of the amazing proto-birds like Archaeopteryx or Microraptor could be on the ‘maybe’ list for the future in this or a slightly larger size format?

Hmmm… very cool question. Not in the near future, but we’ll pass the suggestion back to the office dinophiles.

What will be the next piece of the Dinosauria line? Will we see more T-Rex and Velociraptors? Any possibilities for Deinonychus, Carcharodontosaurus, Allosaurus, Tarbosaurus, Ceratosaurus? Sea monsters such as megalodon, mosasaurus or Predator X? Pleistocene-era animals: smilodon, short faced ear?

I’ve collected every statue that you guys have released for The Dead line and I was curious if you have any more plans to expand the line, or if you’ve had your fun with them and now it’s time to put the zombies away.

Wha? Done with the Dead? No way! Actually, the Dead line is getting ready to explode, in a major way. So far, we’ve been pretty tame with our zombies, usually modern and usually fairly realistic. You’re going to see the Dead grow to include some major fun, fantasy, and historical elements. It’s going to get a little crazy.

Will you be making the faux-bronze version of the Carnotaurus?

We’ve flirted with the idea, but don’t have any current real bronze plans for Dinosauria.

Will you be producing a limited-edition of Catalog Volume 11 as you did for 9 and 10?

We don’t have any plans to release any new limited-edition versions of existing catalogs, but we may indeed return to the LE for future catalog volumes.

Last year you ran a poll asking which dinosaurs we’d like to see, and one of the more popular beasts was the Stegosaurus. Are we going to be seeing a Stegosaurus, or any of the dinos listed in that poll, this year?

At one time you said that Sieshow was considering other monsters for their Originals line (like The Dead); is that dead in the water now?

I was very happy to see a smaller, more affordable piece in the newly shown Tupuxuara; any chance of seeing more Dinosauria items of this size in the future? I think a Compsognathus would be an awesome addition to the line!

We will continue to expand our Dinosauria line with all different size offerings. From small to gigantic, and maybe even bigger

I would really love to purchase the logo of Sideshow’s Dinosauria if molded into a sculpt like a nameplate; that would go pretty awesome among the maquettes and the dioramas from the line!

I want to say you are doing a wonderful job with the Dinosauria line. I was wondering if you could (and this is a just suggestion) make a special maquette that only the loyal members that bought all the pieces so far from the Dinosauria line could purchase, that way maybe it will boost more interest in the line.

We toy with marketing ideas like this from time to time but ultimately come to the conclusion that we’d rather be more on the inclusive side than terribly exclusive. Our products are already very limited editions, and many require some determination to hunt, track, and order. We’d prefer to rely on the Rewards program (including the Sideshow Originals coupons), and Sideshow’s strong determination to provide quality customer support, as our way of saying thank you to the dedicated collectors.

I propose you create a new Premium Format line entitled “Warriors.” It would consist of fighting men throughout history. Examples could be British Soldier/Zulu Warrior, Roman Legionnaire/Celtic Warrior, Crusader Knight/Saracen Warrior, Aztec Warrior/Conquistador, Frontier Ranger/Woodland Brave, or French/English Napoleonic Cavalrymen. The possibilities are almost endless. With your fantastic attention to detail, this could be a wonderful Sideshow Originals line. I think it would appeal to history buffs, statue collectors, and those who like a dramatic presentation. How about it Sideshow?

That was sort of the idea behind Live by the Sword (Blackbeard, Vlad, etc), although we haven’t devoted much design time to developing new figures for the line. Don’t say Napoleonic too loud around the Sideshow offices, or you’ll have two or three designers show up to work in their expertly recreated uniforms. We think you’ll be pleased by some of what we have planned for the next year or so, but we’ll also pass along your enthusiasm to see more.

You mentioned before that you may be working on maquettes of dragons in the future (this was back in November 2009) – when can we expect to see that?

Nothing new to report on this, but there is still a strong desire to dip into dragons at some point in time.
