One little blurb in the newsletter talking about location moving and contests. Now that it is over and I’m trying to remember all the different contests; I was truly amazed at the number of prizes given out in so many locations. It was really (I’ll say it over and over) a blast this past week. I felt like I was sleeping out waiting for a Star Wars or LOTR movie, just in trying to watch for new contests to pop up. TYSS -rjd
Sideshow you should get the Matrix licence for 12″ figures, they would be awsome.
You know what I would love to see done by Sideshow…Apocolypse. That would simply just me awesome and look the best at my desk.
as far as 12 inch star wars figures are concerned-i’d like to see a 12 inch version of Biggs Darklighter in his Tattooine rebel uniform in which he was shown from the infamous cut scene from Star Wars…a 12 inch version of Biggs was done by hasbro but he was in his rebel pilot’s outfit and it was distributed by FAO Schwartz-or why not see sideshow do renditions of both figures…
Dude, Gullible isn’t in the dictionary, =]. They just better not screw up the 12″ maul, best character lucas every created. Must have my MAUL, then I can set him up about to smoke a hole in qui-gon’s chest. GLORIOUS, GLORIOUS time ahead.
SPeaking of 1/4 scale figures…When, if EVER, are we going to have an announcement of a new Universal Monster character? (Not just a siverscreen remake of an existing figure!) ANy Mummy, Creature or Bride of Frankenstein in Sideshow’s future? These were the characters that really got Sideshow off the ground, but lately they have been quite scarce in the “New Release” category.
I think some people need to look up the word “GULLIBLE” in the dictionary.
There is no sense of humor left with any of these collectors. Even if they announce a new one you won’t get it until December anyway! Relax everyone.
OK SS, LOL Cute. How about stopping with the funny business and make some more figures. Kind of sick of the games you play with the previews. Show us what you are making and be done with it. You already have me hooked.
How about seller 2 figure together or sell figures in waves, like Hasbro did.
SideSHow, I hope for your sake this half Darth MAul thing is an April fools joke. Qui-Gon would be rolling in his grave knowing Maul is getting appreciation for his lower half and Qui-Gon not even getting a battle scare from Mauls saber in his 12″ addition. Please give us the whole Darth Maul. It’s bad enough Lucus cut the life short of another great character in Darth Maul(like Boba Fett & Jango). Don’t cut the figure in half for god sake.
Just checked out the latest newsletter and got a good laugh from the Darth Maul “preview”…nice one! By the way, a belated congratulations on your recent move! Like so many others, I’ve been waiting as patiently as I possibly can for news on the next LOTR 12″ figure.
Could this lag in releases possibly be due to the design and preproduction of some new figure bodies, by any chance? If that’s the case, then can we expect Gimli to be joining his comrades in the not too distant future? I sure hope that’s true, but I’m looking forward to the next figure no matter who it turns out to be.
The suspense is killing me…I hope it won’t be TOO much longer!
Loved the april fools joke, and I cant wait to see the real next 1/6th offerings. both SW & LOTR. Keep up the great work.
The Lower Half of Darth Maul? I didn’t know they had April Fool’s Day on Naboo. Perhaps, you could have a future exclusive release of Luke’s severed hand with lightsaber from Episode 5. You could do the whole ‘Thanks for the Dismember-ies’ Series of detached limbs from the entire 6 episodes. Or maybe just Obi-Wan’s scorched cloak from Episode 4? The possibilities are endless. I am also waiting for my Luke because I am living in Europe and ordered my Luke from a retailer, but I think it will arrive in one or two weeks.
OK. I fell for it because I didn’t even think about April fools for something that came out two days before…
Personally I find that quite funny that they would create a Maula in two halves, since Maul has been done SOOOOO many times I’m getting tired of seeing him. I just don’t get the need for the license holders to drive certain characters into the ground. Especailly since there was very little variation in his costuming in Episode 1 (ohhh, he wore a cloak for a bit). Big friggin deal. They can wait a long time before doing Maul as far as I’m concerned. I’d be more interested in seeing a Jar-Jar or a Sebulba before another Maul product.

The joke is only early because the Newsletter always goes out on Thursdays. I think they’ve mentioned that it’s a manual thing… if that’s the case, who really wants to sit around in the office on a Saturday waiting to send out a Newsletter?
OK, that’s pretty funny. But if what we’re seeing is the lower half of the actual 12″ Darth Maul figure to be (hopefully) announced very soon, then I’m excited after just seeing half of him! I was a little disappointed at the lack of a 12″ LOTR announcement, though. It’s been a while since Legolas.
Since you’re only offering half of Darth Maul, does that mean he’ll be 50% off at checkout too? Fortunatly, I read the fine print and saw in the lower right hand corner *top half sold separately. Or is the complete figure only going to be the Sideshow exclusive? Glad to hear Grievous is coming in 30, how soon before there are some new pics of him up on the website? In closing…What about Indiana Jones????????????
I hope they sell the Darth Maul “upper” half soon!! I can display both halves in a fight with the Holy Grail’s Black Knight, complete with flesh wounds!
I love the new symbiote Spiderman but I have one question. When Spiderman has that costume doesn’t he shoot webs from the top of his hands?
Geesh… why is everybody complaining that its not April 1st yet so its dumb to pull a joke. Cut them some slack… its kind of hard for them to pull an April 1st joke when the newsletter doesn’t go out on April 1st.

I can’t stand it when people pull EARLY April Fool’s jokes. I bet we are going to get the full version on Sunday though.
If you pull a joke before the actual April Fool’s Day doesn’t that make you the fool?… Oh, SIDESHOW… Now saying that the next 12″ was Shmii Skywalker— That’d be funny.
To all the twits out there that do not understand or think the 6″ Maul is an April Fools joke, get a life. Sideshow, you have put the fun and funny into collecting Star Wars 12″. I was showing this to everyone at work. Great job.
Personally, I can’t wait for half a Jar Jar. Or is it just a Jar, then?
Maybe Sideshow can release an exclusive bags with just severed limbs? (Luke hand, Dooku arms,Jango head, a pile of C-3PO,…)
Or why not release each figure with one exclusive limb of Darth Vader, so you can build your own Vader, but only when you collect ‘em all…

Ohh Darn, no 12″ LOTR figure announced in this weeks newsletter. I am started to believe that SideShow is going to wait until right before Comic-Con in July to announce the next one. I hope I am wrong in this statement and SS announces the next 12″ LOTR figure sooner than that.
I’ve appreciated the Medicom Marvel figures from afar, but the price has always kept me away. I have to say that the Black Suited Spiderman has caught my attention and I just might have to go for the Priority Pre-order. Now if only they made a Punisher…

I agree with a couple of the previous comments. WHERE ARE THE STAR WARS 1/4 SCALE FIGURES? I hope you guys haven’t forgotten about them. It seems all the focus is on the 12 inch scale, and the 1/4 are being left out. These are the best Star Wars statues EVER, but we need to see them coming our way a little faster. I think since most of the first statues are from Episode 4, we need to start mixing it up and getting characters from all 6 movies. How about Darth Maul, ROTJ Boba Fett, a Stormtrooper, and Chewbacca. A C-3P0, R2-D2, and seeing the great sculpt on your 12 inch Qui-Gonn…he’d make an awesome 1/4 scale. Come on Sideshow, lets get the 1/4 scale line rolling along….the collectors are getting restless!! Go big, or go home…lol. You guys rock!!

I agree with Roman, where the heck is the next 1/4 scale figure. Obi-wan’s shipping now, leaving just Leia and Grevious on pre-order. I’m guessing there will be no 1/4 scale figure released in 3rd quarter 2006. If it’s too soon for a picture can we at least get a hint? Droid, bounty hunter, jedi, etc.?

Please don’t torture us anymore. Or just say us which characters you are currently working on. It is so hard not to know when the next figure is being announced. The last LOTR 12 inch announcement was in January, isn’t it ???

I think it’s awesome that you guys are offering the Medicom Symbiote Spidey… I previously thought I wouldn’t have a chance to get it since it was originally a Japanese shop exclusive, or that I’d have to pay through the nose for it. I’m looking forward to a shot at preordering it. Thanks!

Well last year they had Obi Wans cloak for the premium format as April Fool, 1 week later the proper Obi Wan was announced. I think its safe to presume we will be getting a Darth Maul 12″ preview next week.

There was a lot of ‘valuable’ information in this weeks newsletter: the E-coupons for the POTA figures, comic-con faq, the possible start of the SW Sith line featuring Darth Maul (be it in part, or in whole…). I’m a bit sad, because there was no news on the General Grievous exclusive for the EU, but… I fell in love with Debbie. I will watch that “PPO” video over and over again!
Very funny. Even better than last year’s Obi-Wan. I expect this means Maul will start off the Sith line then since the real Obi-Wan was announced shortly after the April Fool’s joke. His lower half looks good, lets hope the other half turns out just as well.
PS You guys really should consider releasing a severed in two Maul figure(s). I know I’d buy each half.

In Sideshow Fashion, APRIL FOOLS! Last April Fools they offered an Obi Wan Robe and fallen light saber, as the Force of Obi Wan, if I remember correctly. But shortly after the real PF Obi Wan was available…cant wait for the real Maul next announement…BUT WHERE THE HECK IS OUR NEXT 1/4 SCALE?!

Hopefully the Darth Maul figure will come with an exclusive upper body also. But, just the lower body is pretty cool too.
That Darth Maul thing, pretty funny. I like the idea, though, sort of a screw-top kind of upper torso, fill the bottom with whisky, the first SS flask!
