Why no articulation? For the price, this thing should be amazing. You are quickly approaching Hot Toys prices, but are still light years behind on articulation and sculpting.
Ordered 2 of them the other day. I see the details as mentioning an all new articulated figure body. Not sure what exactly that means. I don’t see any mention of how many points of articulation. Hope this figure is more like a figure than a statue. Be nice if there was more details on this one….
Didn’t I buy Jabba for $120.? He seemed a lot bigger to me. It must be the fur, right?? Wish I could afford to buy 2. At these prices even Jabba has to cut back on security I guess! Looks great by the way. Still waiting for my Slave Leia!
Yeah, it would be great to at least have the choice of multiple poses but, after comparing what Sideshow has created here with scenes from “Return Of The Jedi” (Yes, I know…I’m a Star Wars geek!)I have to have this little guy regardless of articulation. Sideshow has captured the details of Gammy beautifully!
I forgot all about my Hellboy figure, Dave. The bendable “Hot Toys” style upper body would make this figure supremely awesome! Guess we’ll find out the specifics tonight with the newsletter pre-order.
Rubber arms? I agree with Tom p, he’s not going to be doing much posing, he’s a guard! But I’d like to have the choice. Still a great looking figure. Hmmm… Do you think he could pass for an Orc? My LOTR figures could do with a bad guy.
I always thought the ‘human’ looking eyes lent by the actor under the costume was kind of creepy on these characters…
This is beautiful, but expensive for a figure that cannot be posed. I love it, though.
Now I can finally replace my old Hasbro gammy! Jabba’s throne room is looking better all the time. Now if we could just get Oola…
Agree Tom P. but there’s always the bendable underbody like what Hot Toys used in their Hell Boy figure. At least it provides some articulation while hiding ugly joints due to lack of clothing
Good point, Tom P.
I would still have liked a bit of play with the knees and elbows, though. The whole fun of 12″ action figures versus a maquette is posing them, etc.
Kind of the main reason I’ll be skipping the new LOTR Strider statuette, despite the good alternate likeness and my general love for all things LOTR.
But still, good point about this particular character and posing versus overall look.
Looks like the articulation will be limited to the shoulders and maybe the head (from side to side). I was surprised and a little disappointed at first, too when that seems to be the extent of Gammy’s movement but, after thinking about it, how many pose choices are there for this character? This fellow is so…..”full figured”, it’s not like he’s going to be squatting down on one knee with a weapon like the stormies to defend Jabba’s palace! This is a guy (hog, pig…Gammorean!) whose job it is to basically stand at various points around the palace, axe or long cattle prod thingy in hand and, well…guard!
I think Sideshow made the right choice because, In my opinion, If I’m just going to display this guy in his guarding position, with the exception of some slight changes in the position of his axe or angle of his head (left to right) he’s better off not having any more articulation points – no need for those unsightly hinged joints at the knees and elbows!
.
Anyone else agree?
S W E E T!!!!!
LOVE IT
I used to think that the Hasbro 12″ Gamorrean was really good and held up well but this is outstanding!!
I share the same concern as Dave; what is the articulation like for this figure? Outside of that, the figure looks great.
Awesome. I second the thought that the fur could be a predecessor of a Chewie soon.
Looks really sharp, but Dave is right, hard to tell if and where articulation is.
I hope they address that concern before the pre-order, as that will determine buying one vs. two.
Love it, but is there any articulation to this one?
My favorite character, and will compliment my jabba diorama just fine. sign me up for two!
Now THAT is an awesome looking 12-Inch figure!! Go SS!
The detailing is amazing. Hopefully the fur is a hint that “Chewie” is not too far away from production?…
Excellent Gamy, I’m in for one.
This will be the best Gammorean ever produced – no doubt about it! Just hope I have a chance to secure at least one!
That’s SICK! I love the real fur too. Since I’ll never be able to afford the 1:1 bust, this will gladly do!
Wow! Looks GREAT! C’mon Thursday!
