Now that this year’s Toy Fair is over, we’d like to officially announce that Sideshow Collectibles will be attending Star Wars Celebration IV in Los Angeles, from Thurdsay, May 24th through Monday, May 28th! If you are a Star Wars fan, this is one convention that you will NOT want to miss. Not only will it be the huge 30th Anniversary celebration of the saga, but it will also be the best place to view original costumes and props from the films, meet and greet personalities who worked on all six episodes, bond with fellow Star Wars fans, get up close and personal with all of your favorite collectibles from a galaxy far, far away, and of course…get your hands on a few special 30th Anniversary Exclusives!
At this time, we can confirm that Sideshow is planning to offer at least two exciting Exclusives to celebrate the big Anniversary and Celebration IV. We will be dropping hints about the chosen characters and categories for these Exclusives during the months leading up to the much-anticipated convention. Plus, we’ll be releasing information about pre-ordering opportunities, so be sure to stay tuned to our weekly Newsletter in the coming weeks to stay on top of all our C4 updates!

I can’t think of a more Iconic figure than the great man himself…..George Lucas! I also appreciate the fact that I don’t have to attend Celebration IV in order to try and score some great figures…thanks SideShow, keep up the great work!!!
Non-attendee speaking…livestock prevents me from attending…would love to see Obi-Wan the elder or Chewie about 14 inches tall with fur!! Diorama should be Luke and Vader in final combat from Jedi. I am a purist and love the original three, but have all the 12 inch figures of I,II, and III also…please make whatever you offer at con 30 available to all of us nons. We are your gravy!! Thanks for having such great figures!!
Too costly to attend…would love to see Obi-Wan the elder or Chewie in the 12 inch figure…Chewie would have to be a bit taller, with fur would be awesome!! Would love to see Luke and Vader in a fight scene diorama from Jedi. I hope these will be available to the “nons”…. we will all be on pins and needles.
Wouldn’t it be awesome to have three Obi Wans; one from each era? But then, I’m sure I am not the FIRST to come up with THAT brainstorm!

Ummm, my “guess” is that we are gonna have another one of these vague announcements from SS before the real announcement is made. How about we do away with this guessing game and have you just release the exclusive product information to us?? What a novel idea!
It would be nice to have Yoda as the Celebration IV exclusive 12″ character. There is so much your team could do having him as an exclusive. You can add his seat from the Jedi Temple. Have a padawan learner with his/her own lightsaber. Add all kind of accessories he’s used from Episodes 1,2,3,5&6 since he pretty much appears in almost all the movies. He would be the ultimate Order of the Jedi character. Please consider this. It wouldn’t be Star Wars without Yoda. “Celebration IV ever”
I hope I’ll be able to still get the 12″ figure, since I’m not going to be able to make it to Celebration IV. Since it is the 30th anniversary, I’m hoping for an original trilogy exclusive.
Why is everyone saying Chewie? How bad of a sculpt would he be? I mean you can’t use fabric for his fur,it’ll look to much like a stuffed toy. You can’t sculpt the hair it would look real weird.
From the list in the production blog I’d like to see either Mara Jade or Thrawn. Luke or Leia in Endor gear would be cool,if they did a sculpt with helmets on as an inclusive. Han in Carbonite? What good would that be? Leia as in the slave outfit, too many joints to try and cover up,she’d look weird too. What about an Oola figure? My vote to add to obscure figures with very little screen time,the guy sitting in the cantina on the right of the screen when Luke is told that the droids have to wait outsideor the guy walking around outside with the cool white pie hat! Why not Jimmy Smitts?
What about Collectors in Australia/rest of the world who can only just afford to collect the 1:6 scale line, but cannot afford to fly to LA in order to obtain these ‘exclusives’
My hopes are foe Chewbacca,an Episode 1 Obi Wan and an armoured Darth Vader but those would be repeats of either an already done by Sideshow figure in either 1/4 scale or 12″ so that’s out the door. Threepio would be a great piece to tie in the snowbunny Padme’and chess set though “iconic” to me is vader in all his glory as he first appeared in A New Hope. My want list is long and includes Jedi such as Aayla, Seassee Tin, Kiadi and Quinlin Voss.If it be The Eperor, include an option to buy his chair/throne!!! Since the economy is on the severe slide and it is all about the money for corporations, I say the 12″ will use an already established body with a new head sculpt so the 12″ will be snowbunny Padme’ 1/4 scale will be Maul and distributed will be Spiderman. Think month of May people. Heck, who knows except the more fresh the better ..as in no rehashes, repaints or boring humans. If Sideshow wasn’t doing a Endor Rebel Soldier bundle 2 of those 3 figs could have been Clones!
well im thinking of two figures maybe in the 12 inch line maybe three. a young obi won from episode 1 jedi master yoda with his light saber and walking stick. that whould soo rock in a 12 inch thats about 6 inch and with 30 points and a darth vader 12 inch .. i think a sidious vs yoda diorama would be cool.
I would think old Obi-Wan for the 12″, but you would really end up angering a lot of people since there really wouldn’t be another old Obi-Wan version to do. So either, it’s an armored Vader or Grand Moff Tarkin. The diorama ought to be Vader vs Obi-Wan from ANH. Distributed probably refers to an item that isn’t a Sideshow product, so a VCD or RAH figure or possibly even a Kubrik.
well, since i can’t go, i really hope i luck out on the on line offers, wish we had a bit more detail still, about half the characters in star wars can be considered iconic. I am looking forward to the new diorama, hoping for something from the classic films. my guess is a 12″ chewie, something to go with the chess set, but hey, who knows, that might have been made just for something released next year, so here’s hoping.
“Iconic” means Darth Vader. He IS Star Wars.
YAY!! C’mon.. say something with a Sith Anakin!!!! A diorama.. hm.. Darth Maul w/ Obi & Qui Gon would be interesting…. Can’t wait for the announcement of the actual figures!!!

My guess is that it is not going to be a whole new figure. I don’t think it is even going to be a new head sculpt. I think that some options may be:

Smuggler Han
Carbonite Han
I am just happy they will have some for non-attendees.

What is a distributed figure? Is it another 12″ figure? I hope the iconic 12″ figure is either for the Order of the Jedis or Sith Lords. What I am really looking forward to seeing are Darth Tyranus, Darth Sidious, Yoda, Quinlan Vos, Aayla Secura and Ki Adi Mundi. This will be a day long remembered… by me if I see any of them around. Ben Kenobi is going to get my guess as well for the 12 inch, although it prolly won’t be since I guess that now. As for the diorama, I will take a stab and say it will be the Mace v. Palpatine, as Customikey has also guessed. As for the distributed figure, Chewie perhaps. Anyway, it is great that those of us not attending will still have a chance to pick up the exclusives, I was a bit worried about that. Sounds like it is all going to be a lot of fun, so y’all enjoy yourselves there.
i can’t guess any of the exclusives. but honestly, if the marketing dept is clever, they will not release a must have piece as an exclusive. it will be nice. but not a must have.
whatever it is, it’s going to be either a vinyl mould critter like what is currently in jabbas palace or some clothed humanoid. we shouldn’t expect anything as bulky as a gammorrean guard with the 12″ framework they are using for all their releases. or a short figure like a jawa or a hobbit for the same reason.
whatever they are. i wish you all luck in your individual pursuits in obtaining them.

Seeing as how you haven’t announced a figure for 5 months, and after Leia all you have to look forward to is a non-speaking Jedi, 3 Non-speaking endor ‘Soldiers’ and a figure that didn’t even appear in the film, oh nearly a slug dog who no on had heard off, personally I don’t care who you announce.
Your releasing too much rubbish in is line to keep me interested. 50/50 a-list and c-list characters may have kept me interested, but not 20/80. I think you’re losing face on this line, and I’m sure your latest warehouse stock figures, at home and aboard back that up!!!!
I think that the diorama will be of Vader vs Luke, either ESB or ROTJ – a lot more action to create than a diorama of Vader vs Obi-Wan on the Deathstar.
I will not be able to attend C4, but to all those who are fortunate enough…HAVE FUN!!!
I hope SS will give us all a chance at the exclusives and I am sure they will be well worth the getting. My guess for the 12″ figure is Chewbacca. I always wondered why he didn’t get a medal also.

I hope the iconic figure will be a Chewbacca (although you said 12″ and not 1:6 scale – so it’s probably not going to be that). The distributed figure might be Yoda, but that’s Empire and it’s probably going to be A New Hope figure. Finally the diorama/environment would be awesome if it were the cockpit of the Falcon. I know that would never happen, but it’s more of a wish more than anything. What better way to display these figures?

These announcements…. Makes one that is not attending say “I have a bad feeling about this”. I’m hoping, as Sideshow has stated, that we get a good chance at these three items, whatever they are. I hope the 12″ is a unique figure and not a repaint this time. Dang Sideshow, I’m gonna need a heart defibrilator after all this! LOL! Good luck to everyone on getting the pieces you desire!

I’m thrilled that we’ll be seeing three cool Star Wars exclsuives, although I’d be hard pressed to guess them, but here goes:
Distributed Figure: RAH ROTJ Boba Fett
Diorama: Mace v. Palpatine
12″ – Chanc. Palpatine (cuel version, no scars)
Can’t wait to hear the real announcments! It’s almost like actually going to the Celebration!!
I think the exclusive will be Chewbacca, to go with the Chess Set, or 3PO. The mainstream figure will be Snowbunny Padme! The diaroma is anyones guess but I think it will be Darth Vader vs Obi Wan!
Well, my prediction is Ben Kenobi 12″ Figure, Darth Vader vs. Ben Kenobi Dio to coincide with the Anakin vs. Obi diorama, and as for this cool figure, I have no idea what that could be.
CIV is about 2 months away, a more specific announcement would be great.

I feel the pain of the non-attendees, but they have to make it worthwile for those of us shelling out all that money to go. Can’t wait to see what Sideshow has in store for C4.

Please make any exclusives for C4 available to non-attendees as well. Because it is being moved from Indy to L.A. I can’t attend. I have EVERY single Star Wars product Sideshow has made. I don’t want to miss one because of it being too exclusive. I understand about EX items, but I also understand loyal customers and from what I’ve seen so far, you do to. Don’t forget about us.
By the way, C4 should have been in the middle of the country again. L.A. is going to suck for anyone not living in L.A.

im thinking that sideshow will give everyone the same opportunity at getting these exclusives as they do with their other exclusive products but more than likely in smaller numbers. that being said that can be a good or bad thing depending how you look at it. i was able to score a sdcc exclusive online from them last year & missed on another. thank goodness for 2nd chances and contests huh? you win some you lose some. what about a convention inclusive deal? i know that a lot of collectors cherish their exclusive pieces because it is just that exclusive…unique to a degree but i still dont think that they are a majority. looking forward to finding out what they will be & good luck to all getting what they want.
So basically the Announcement is your going to make an announcement abot c4. Oh goodie. Maybe the next announcement we are kept days waiting for could be about a product, instead of another announement……….. just a thought
I’m very disappointed by this announcement as I’m already worried that these exclusives will be near impossible for those not attending the Celebration to acquire. I understand the fun and reason behind con exclusives but SS needs to make sure that they’re not alienating the large majority of their fanbase who isn’t able to attend. This is especially true if the exclusives this time around are going to be more than just a variation on a previously released character as they did with Anakin. So please SS, make sure that these exclusives are not near impossible for us not attending to purchase. The bottom line here is it will mean more money for you if more people are able to purchase it. Plus, you’ll be making everyone happy and not just a select few.
This was the most exciting week last year, but this year there was no real excitement.
I hope dieshow shows something really cool in the coming weeks.
I do have to say that this past year was the most amazing year for collectibles I can remember. Sideshow has spoiled us all.
I hope they are just waiting to give us some more Buffy and Star Wars.

Thats the announcement? Sad to say but this week was a huge dissappointment for 12″ collectors. Better be somehting good coming for LOTR and Star Wars soon, and it better wear a pointed hat or roar like a wookie!

Please give non-attendees a chance. I can never take a vacation during spring and summer, so I miss out on the “cool parties”. Besides, the money I spend all year long on SS wouldn’t allow it!
Hope you make any exclusive’s available online as well, As living in the uk there is no way i can attend celebration, I’m only interested in PF and dioramas anyway and have no interest in the 12inch dolls, and at least one of the exclusive is bound to be from the 12″ line, So i’m not too worried about missing out and there is always e-bay i got my comic con PF luke easily enough, Keep up the good work sideshow.

The price of gas what it is. L.A. being one of the most expensive cities in the U.S. to visit and Jabba’s eating into our wallets, I’m not too thrilled about C4 this year. No, I won’t play hater here. Anyone who attends a SW Celebration, more power too them. If you can afford it, GO! I’ve been to a couple, and if your a Star Wars fan, they are not to be missed. As for the rest of us, I’ll plead Sideshow not to shut us out. Just like Toyfare, I feel the only attending I’ll be doing is from my computer looking at what I’ll have to finance in the coming year. And isn’t that the truest devotion a fan can give?

I am only interested in what the 12″ figure exclusive is. Any PF’s, VCD’s, gicklee’s and such hold no interest for me. And I am sure there are not two 12″ exclusives, but it would be nice!
I’m hoping we can place our orders online and pick them up at the show like you guys do with the San Diego exclusives.

First off. I expect that a limited number of these exclusives will be made available to non-attendees.
Secondly, that doesn’t matter to me because I’ll be there for the party!
I would be excited if one of the exclusives was a Premium Format exclusive. Perhaps a regular release could be available to anyone who was unable to get the exclusive. I would also be excited if a C4 Premium Format exclusive was something that was at a lower pricepoint since I’ll already be spending half of my son and daughter’s college fund to attend the event. May I suggest something simple that perhaps doesn’t even need a face sculpt? Maybe a short one that doesn’t require as many materials; mostly just some brown cloth for a robe. However it should be something special to celebate the 30th anniversary of ANH when we first saw the sands of Tatooine, so a light up feature would be really cool. *hint-hint
i agree, there is absolutely no way i could ever get to an event in la in may, ever, period. i hope at least some of the 2 new exclusives are available to us poor saps who can’t go, but love ss star wars!
