Why on earth would you make Comic-Con Exclusives?!
Please remember that most of the items Sideshow Collectibles produces are limited in number so exclusivity is really not a new challenge for our collectors. The tradition of offering exclusives is not limited only to this convention nor to Sideshow's participation. The tradition of Comic-Con exclusive items and the event itself has become a significant part of the collectibles industry and community, which Sideshow Collectibles supports through our appearance and our Con Exclusive program.
We know from experience that it is impossible to please everyone, but that doesn't stop us from trying! That is why Sideshow has also made an allotment of our Con Exclusive editions available for purchase by Non-Attendees in order to satisfy a portion of our domestic and international collectors who are not able to attend the show.
Who will they be available to?
These exclusives will be available mainly to Comic-Con Attendees, with an allotment of the edition also available to Non-Attendees, which includes international collectors. We make at least 10% of the edition size available for Non-Attendees world-wide, however this number will fluctuate depending on the license.
What are the exclusives?
Sideshow Collectibles is currently offering four (4) Comic-Con Exclusives for 2010, representing a few of our many popular licenses. Please visit our 2010 Comic-Con Exclusives Announcement for a list and Priority Pre-Order schedules for each! Please note: we may also be offering one or more Con Exclusives from our distribution partners. If so, we will be making that announcement at a later date. Stay tuned!
What are the edition sizes going to be? Why not make more?
Comic-Con Exclusive edition sizes are planned to be announced on or before the day that pre-ordering begins for each item.
Sideshow Collectibles constantly evaluates our edition sizes by examining the demand while protecting the edition from becoming too large for collectibility. While our edition sizes may seem small to collectors used to purchasing mass market toys, our edition sizes are appropriate for higher end, collectible figures of this nature.
When do they go on sale?
The Sideshow Comic-Con Exclusives will be offered for Priority Pre-Order beginning in early June. A schedule of pre-order dates has been made available to collectors through our 2010 Comic-Con Exclusives Announcement Page.
Will pre-orders be convenient to my time zone?
Unfortunately, we cannot make the sale time of our items convenient for every collector within all time zones. Since Sideshow Collectibles is located in the Pacific time zone in the US, it is more efficient to offer exclusives during our operating hours when our Customer Service staff, as well as our technical support team, are available to assist our customers.
More than likely, all of our Comic-Con Exclusive items will be available for pre-order during the morning hours, Pacific Standard Time. A set pre-order schedule has been made available on our 2010 Comic-Con Exclusives Announcement. For additional time zone clarity, the Sideshow Web Team has added a "Pacific Time" date / time stamp in the upper left corner of our site, so you always know what time it is at Sideshow!
How will they be sold?
The Sideshow Comic-Con Exclusives will be offered initially for Priority Pre-Order on different days. The schedule clearly indicates "Attendee" and "Non-Attendee" Priority Pre-Order dates and times. Collectors are also welcome to call Customer Service to place their orders during the specific pre-order times.
On some of the more popular items, Sideshow will offer streamlined Priority Pre-Ordering to assist collectors. These items will be clearly marked on day of the pre-order. Remaining Con exclusive Priority Pre-Order pages can be accessed through our Comic-con section during the appropriate times indicated by our schedule.
How many can we buy?
Collectors will be restricted to one (1) of each of the Con exclusive items, per customer, household, billing and shipping address. (This means one of EITHER the Attendee or Non-Attendee editions, not one of each!) This is to ensure that as many collectors as possible will be able to participate in this program. Sideshow will be posting new information to our 2010 Comic-Con News as we get closer to the event, which takes place this year from July 21st - July 25th. Will we earn Sideshow Rewards Points on Comic-Con Exclusive purchases? Can we redeem our available Points toward the purchase of Comic-Con Exclusives?
Collectors will earn Sideshow Rewards Points on the purchase of Comic-Con Exclusives. However, due to the unique and limited nature of these items, they are NOT eligible to be purchased using any discounts, including Rewards Points, Gift Card codes, or E-Coupons.
