  1. UKDave says:

Hey Gay-Zor – that seems like an excessive long waste of a post to say you are unhappy with Sideshow products. Here’s a novel idea – straight and to the point – Don’t buy Sideshow products if you are unhappy with them. No one is forcing you.

  2. Nicholas Gay-Zor (is my Star Wars handle) says:

Does anyone remember when Lou Reed put out his Metal Machine Music record? Back when he was super popular Lou recorded and released a two-record of dischordant and unharmonious sounds with the concept being that he was so popular that people would buy this unlistenable album just because his name was on it. In the end it left people mad. The Endor Troopers aren’t dischordant but it seems like maybe the impetus is the same. “You will buy anything that we stamp the Star Wars logo on, even a dead homeless guy.” Sideshow is probably the Lou Reed of toys both in talent and arrogance. Am I incorrect? Are there 4500 people out there dying to have these anonymous looking action dolls?

I don’t mean to get all “Comic Book Guy” at you. I think the Lou Reed metaphor also carries over to the consistent level of quality that both you and Reed put forth in your product.

  3. Commandr says:

I hope these are just prototypes. The facial hair looks a bit too well-groomed, like they are wearing fake plastic halloween masks. I’d appreciate a more human-like appearance. Then again, Obi-Wan looked this way to me too but the final result turned out spectacular!

  4. Sachiel says:

I think they should all come with wrist comms too.

  5. Fraggle says:

Jar Jar & some ewoks would look more threatening.

  6. Derek says:

I’d like to second Gary’s suggestion
    # Gary Says:
Nik Sant needs a backpack. He … has a soft pack in the movie Return of the Jedi. … keep him accurate to the way he is shown in the movie … Let’s make these guys film accurate if they have appeared in the films.

Im 100% for film accuaracy. In fact, I’d be happy to pay $60 for nobody characters AS LONG AS they are film accuarate!

  7. kenbenobi says:

Thanks, Jedi Night. I didn’t know there was a FAQ. I see it now, but they really should have a link to it from the Rebel Commandos page. I had that page bookmarked since they were announced, so never would have seen the FAQ page otherwise…

  8. Jedi-Bob says:

Great looking figure (as always) but should have been bundled for $99.99.

Then they would have sold alot more.

    But the figures look fantastic!

  9. JediNight says:

kenbenobi (fun name!) – they specified in the FAQ released before the pre-order that there is only one edition of each of these figures – Infantry is only regular edition, Sergeant is only Domestic Exclusive, and Nik Sant is only Domestic Exclusive. So yeah, the 2 that CAN be exclusive, WILL be. Hope that clears it up… you can copy/paste this for FAQ: sideshowtoy.com/behindtheshow/?page_id=2051

  10. kenbenobi says:

Sideshow, have we established yet if the bundle comes with the exclusive version of the figures? If not, I plan on canceling my bundle. I have every exclusive thus far, and plan on getting them all. But I’m not doubling up on these figures… The $25 GC offered with the bundle doesn’t offer much to Star Wars collectors, since you never have anything affordable IN STOCK…

  11. Rudy J. Vucelich says:

Thank you Sideshow! This kind of thing was exactly what I was hoping to see from your Star Wars line. While I love your renditions of the major characters from the Star Wars universe, I’ve long felt that not only was a large segment of the license has long been overlooked by the toy industry but also that this segment has huge amounts of untapped potential for the sixth scale market. Just as G.I.Joe pioneered the 12 inch scale format all those many years ago, I have longed to see someone produce quality 12 inch scale version of the ‘G.I.Joes’ of the Star Wars universe. Now you’ve finally delivered! I can’t wait to see Sideshow give this same treatment to all the other soldiers of Star Wars – Stormtroopers, Clone Troopers, Rebel Fleet Troopers, Scout Troopers, Snowtroopers, Battle Droids. Just like the multitude of sixth scale military lines out there, but with the imagination of the Star Wars universe behind it!

  12. Mike says:

These figures are great. I’ve been waiting for Alliance grunts to come out for a long time. Endor commandos was the best choice to launch this series.

  13. Batman says:

    Barryo:
Thank you. While I personally dont like these, I do realize others do. But, the point is, we need to let SS know. It is their only real measuring stick.
    WayneInEngland:
Great idea. I hope SS takes up your suggestion.
    Rodney:
Great idea. With SS selling generic figure bodies for $20, and if they sold the clothing and accessories, those who want these could have saved a bunch, and SS would have received a lot less criticism.
    DarthIcarus:
True-and imho these look like $20 Hasbro rejects.
    Gary:
SS plans to do all the obvious figures.
    Eddie:
True. Oddly, DC Direct charges $70 for their figures, and because I get them at a discount I actually pay less for them, with s/h, than I do for these cheaper and better figures.
I’m getting worried how long I’ll be able to keep this up.
    Skywalker1967:
I know I do. Just ask DCDirect &Mattel. I almost feel sorry for them. But, they deserved the negative comments. SideShow on the otherhand got high praises frome me (altho, I did gripe about the LukePF having freakishly long fingers. But overall, awesome praise at ComicCon.

  14. Batman says:

Ok, I was curous just how much positive vs negative this set brought, so I counted and counted the best I could, giving as much lattitude as possible. Not always as easy as it seems. Some gave praise and criticism. Some seemed negative but were buying. Some seemed positive but may have been critical. Some were completely irrelevant. There were several that had negative and positive so those I divided.
My findings are (based on the number of posts showing at time of categorizing):
    40.5 positive
    35.5 negative
    18 irrelevant or completely unclear.
Once again, I have to say, I have never seen an item that drew almost 50% negative responses.

  15. Batman says:

I cant believe some of you just don’t get it.
The point is not whether we buy or not buy. Obviously, if we dont like something, we’re not going to buy it. And, obviously if you do like it, you’re going to buy it.
Honestly, I’m glad for you who do like this set. I have to sift through and read about people complaining about another Jedi figure. But, the point is, those collectors need to tell SideShow they dont want Jedi. Whereas people like me need to let SS know we want more Jedi.
I personally think this set is a horrible set and $180 is outrageous. If you guys want to pay $200 for the set, that is great. That’s why SS made these. They know they’ll sell out. eventually.
But, like OOTchick said, Its interesting this set generated so many complaints. Ive never seen this much negative about one set.
Seems to me, this wasnt as successful as SS thinks. Yes, number one, but, thats because it is the new item of the week. Every new item is number 1. Especially in the Star Wars line

  16. skywalker-1967 says:

    Sideshow,
How about a 12″ Darth Vader. Removable helmet, Old and new Anakin inter-changable heads, Hands ( new hope, empire, jedi ), robotic arms and legs UNDER the outfit, and LIGHT UP LIGHT SABER and chestplate!!!!!!!!!!! Exclusive piece…….Obi-wans cloak and saber from the Death Star Duel. ( Obviously at Vader’s feet when displayed out of the box)

  17. AlienFan says:

Sideshow relies on a steady consumer base to make these lines work. Alienate enough people like Lisa with creeping price hikes and either the line dies or the few people left are paying Medicom prices to support it. Neither option is very attractive.

  18. Quiturbichin says:

If you don’t like the prices don’t buy them!! That will leave more for the rest of us.

  19. Lisa says:

Why the 20% price hike over your first Star Wars 12″ figure? There’s nothing here that seems to justify that rise. How many more $5 hikes until you start pricing out fans?

  20. Darth Mal says:

Sideshow would you consider releasing a carded Endor Strike Team set, similar to your Vietnam series. Maybe with a soft pack, different rifle & trenchcoat. Maybe even a movie accurate set for Han Solo’ that would make a sweet looking display (Han leading the strike team). As far as costs go every thing is costing more I’d rather pay extra & keep the quality than pay the same & have corners cut. Prime example Hasbro! Thanks for your time.

  21. Wor-Gar says:

Hey SS, I just noticed that your Endor Commando pants should have the pockets below the knees on all the figures, not just on Nik Sant. Not sure if you can still make adjustments, but if so that correction would be great for accuracy sake. You know us Star Wars freaks.

  22. Gary says:

Hey Sideshow!!! Great job on the Rebel Endor Commandos except that Nik Sant needs a backpack. He isn’t shown with one in the bundle photos but has a soft pack in the movie Return of the Jedi. In order to keep him accurate to the way he is shown in the movie, he needs to have a soft pack. He doesn’t have many accessories anyway and it shouldn’t be difficult to add a soft pack since the Sargeant already has one. Let’s make these guys film accurate if they have appeared in the films. Anybody else agree?? Let Sideshow know. They do listen.

  23. Colin S says:

    bought mine… what’s next???

  24. Mike C. says:

After seeing some different images of the Endor Troopers I would have to say “GREAT JOB SIDESHOW” on another fantastic line of 12 inch figures, but at $59.99 a piece I’ll have to pass on these for the moment. I think this is a great new direction to go in and it will only continue to grow but I only have so much money to spend and I just can’t get enough of the Jedi, Sith, and Heroes lines right now. I guess you guys have just spoiled me with these three lines. I hope everyone that ordered the bundles or individuals enjoys them and hopefully I can pick them up down the road. Once again I would just like to say “KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK SIDESHOW”.

  25. Steve says:

I picked up the regular Endor Infantry trooper. All I needed was one of these figures. I’ll pass on Santa and his sleepy elf with the goatee. Lets see where this line is going and get to the good stuff already!

  26. Sam says:

It’s ridiculous to blame the price of crude oil for a $15 difference between Nik Sant and Luke Skywalker.

  27. skywalker-1967 says:

To Mark on comment to Skywalker-1967,
    Mark,
Thanks for the reply to that post, I was waiting for someone to leave feedback on that. I could not agree more with you that honest feedback should be left to allow REAl input on what the Sideshow and Star Wars fan base really think about all new product releases, good or bad. However, I hope all of these fans take the opportunity to talk with the LIVE people of sideshow when they attend the conventions and toys shows to give their opinions face to face with the people who create and distribute this product instead of only throwing out negative or informative opinions from their recliners or collection room computer chairs. Thanks for the great response, Mark.

  28. Skullsplitter says:

With all the complaints about the price of the figures and prices going up recently on other figures. Don’t forget that the price of crude oil has risen to stupid prices lately, and we all know we can’t have plastic without that. So it isn’t Sideshow’s fault that the fatcat oil companies want to rip us at every turn. Sideshow came up with a great way to save us a few bucks on shipping with the bundle plus $25 on future purchases. You might not like the Endor Troopers but at least Sideshow’s willing to try something new. Good Work Sideshow, Keep up the great work.

  29. Gary says:

To all the nay sayers and complainers, I find it interesting that the Bundle Pack is now #1 in top sales. It seems as though more collectors are buying these figures then some would like us to believe. I picked up the infantry myself and will probably pick up the Seargant when he goes on preorder. Nik Sant just doesn’t have enough accessories to justify the price in my opinion. Thanks for making these Sideshow!!

  30. Mark says:

Pre-Order started. I believe you have to go through the newsletter.
    To skywalker-67:
We are all fans of Sideshow and (obviously) Star Wars. Sideshow didn’t start these comment threads to read post after post of praise. I’m sure they appreciate the positive comments as much as anyone would. But they also welcome critism. All of us buy their product. And since we put our hard earned dollars into that product, we will not have any problem making our voices heard when we’re less than satisfied. You wrote “Here’s the beauty of it. If you like it, buy it. If you don’t, don’t buy it”. I agree with you %1000. But I’m sure Sideshow would like to know why we don’t like it rather than wonder why we didn’t buy it. It’s never a waste of time to offer one’s opinion. And (in my opinion) that’s what keeping an open mind is all about. We all share the same passion but not everyone will like the same thing. That’s what makes it interesting!

  31. Astro666 says:

I think the bundle price should have been $160, so that way the people who are going to get 1 of every figure could at least get a little break on the price.

  32. darthsnook says:

When does this bundle pre-order start?

  33. outrider says:

I understand about the completist mentality but for heaven’s sake, offering 3 verisons of this trooper is a great thing. Nobody is keeping score. We’re not obligated to buy all of them. I sure as heck can’t so I’ll purchase the white bearded one for my collection. I’ll consider my collection complete with one representative from the commando unit. “…anger leads to hate…hate leads to suffering”

  34. Carlso says:

Aren’t this figuers amazing. I want the bundle

  35. skywalker-1967 says:

Hey Star Wars and Sideshow fans,
Here’s the beauty of it. If you like it, buy it. If you don’t, don’t buy it. There’s the beauty. Keep up the great work sideshow! Hey disgruntled fans, quit your crying.
Signed an Open minded Star Wars fan.

  36. rodney ramos says:

Ditto on the comment that maybe there should be only Endor soldier outfits as accesories. Maybe one figure release would have been fine and the rest of the outfits as accesories. Sideshow should focus on what the fans want first considering how expensive these figures are getting.

  37. RB says:

I am in agreement with the post above. I wish sideshow would respond to some of the comments that have been made. Let us know your response to the questions and concerns raised by collectors.

  38. Mark says:

Maybe it would have been better to offer the Endor soldier outfits as accessories instead of the figures. I think these uniforms would look better on your Art.S.Buck figures. Kind of “Smithsonian” and more of a homage to the look of the rebel fighting forces. Something to think about for future releases.

  39. Wayne in England says:

As the negative comments continue to fly in about these releases, maybe someone from Sideshow could come on and make a comment. Please don’t get me wrong, and think I’ll moan for moaning sake. I’ve loved the line up until now, but these have put a thorn in my side. I feel very strongly about companies like Sideshow releasing tat, because they know people will feel they have to buy them to complete their collections. I know on the great scheme of things, this is nothing, but in the Star Wars collectors world Sideshow have upset a lot of people, and that can’t be a wise thing to do. So it would be great if someone from Sideshow let us know what they think of all these negative comments, and more importantly what they are going to do about it?

  40. Ron W. says:

I think the generic Army Endor Soldier builders should be offered… but in a section of its own aside from all the single unique characters that should be done with this line. Even if you did it like Hasbro did with the army builder 4 packs that came in the white box. That way it’s available for army builders…but offer the Nic Sant (characters who are really in the movie and recognizable) in the exclusive line as just one figure of the endor soldier line for the completion of the line of exclusives. This way you stay on track with the characters collectors want and satisfy the need of army builders without single collectors suffering…everybody wins. And maybe with the army builder start the first one at 60 then if you buy two for 110 or three for 150 and so on, as to give army builders a break in price. The 12″ line is great and sideshow you do an awesome job just don’t forget your roots and what has made you who you are…US…COLLECTORS…with a PASSION for STAR WARS. Thanks for your time

  41. Pfft says:

Lol. This would have to be the most ridiculous Sideshow offering I’ve seen so far! Rebel troopers! HAH!

  42. Mark says:

$60 per figure? For Endor Soldiers? I’d rather buy an ewok…they make better cannon fodder. Good luck with these Sideshow!

  43. Steve says:

Sadly, I don’t care for these figures. I wish Sideshow would put more effort into character pieces and less effort into army builders. It’s obvious that the majority doesn’t want them.

  44. Darth J says:

I agree with both sides. Sure, the Endor commandos are very boring but at the same time they are refreshing. I thought it was totally out of left field to announce Endor commmandos. I will buy Nik Sant because he was in the movie. The John Cena look alike and goatee guy are too plain for me. Like everyone else I’m dying for some Imperials..which will break us all when Sideshow lowers the boom with those announcements! Sideshow knows they are sitting on gold. Its only a matter of time.

  45. Sunscout says:

How much is the bundle of three going to cost? I figure about $60 a figure so that would make it about $180. Add shipping about $10. Wow, the bundle is going to cost just under $200. Ouch. Can I just wave the $25 future discount and just get an instant $25 off? Maybe just one figure will do when all is said and done? Which one to choose? Are we going to see any ARC Clone Troopers from Eps 1 in this line? Maybe make the exclusive edition the red ARC trooper and the regular edition the blue ARC trooper? Just a thought.

  46. James says:

I don’t dig the Endor troopers. I don’t think they are the best ‘kick off’ a new line assortment.
But the Soldiers of Star Wars line should have some sweet figures though.
    Snowtroopers
    Stormtroopers
    Biker Scouts (my favorite)
    Tie Fighter Pilots
Clones (AOTC) and every color variation possible
Clones (ROTS) and every color variation possible
    Imperial Royal Guards
    Battle Droids
    Super Battle Droids
    Destroyer Droids
and the list can go on and on…

  47. Gary says:

I really like the Endor Rebel Commandos. I ‘ll be buying one for sure and maybe the Strike Force Bundle if it offers the exclusive figures. Way to go Sideshow!!! You guys rock!!

  48. Sam says:

I can’t believe we’re getting a figure of some SSC employee before classic characters like Darth Vader or anyone from A New Hope. Crazy!

  49. Werbals says:

Really, only one was needed. 3 just seems like a cash-grab at completists. Are people really going to take these and make big military dioramas around them? No, they’re going to pose them on their shelf and make them look cool. You only really need one to do that.

  50. Darth Icarus says:

    To batman
for $20 ya get Hasbro, for $55 ya getSS and for $150+ ya getMedicom.I would like SS to stay within that $50-$60range and not start charging more and more.
I read the negative feedback as much as I do the positive,it gives SS and us A well rounded view of what people think.
I scan all the new SS and pick my battles carefully,as i can;t get all of ‘em anyway.
With these latest figures being anounced,I can see SS plans to eclipse the Hasbro line and then some.
As long as the price is right ,i will continue to get SS.
As for the endor rebels,I’ll wait for hasbro to finally come out with 3 3/4″ versions,12″ is to me for faves only.

  51. barryo says:

excellent point batman, this is an open forum to tell ssc to see our opinions and feedback etc. that is exactly what it is for. they actually read this & hopefully guage/value our input. i wish more companies would do this. i think even hasbro is doing this now with the q&a from the various websites. now if they would have only had an open forum a long time ago and took the input and ideas from collectors they could have saved themselves a lot of wasted cash and effort on garbage nobody bought and put more effort into items people wanted made. as big as hotwheels are, they have open forums and listen to the collectors. i applaud ssc for this platform & its our duty to sound off when we dont particularly like something or give kudos when we do. it just makes good business sense all the way around and we as collectors have a voice in it also. i would however like a poll posted when ideas are kicked around that could help them in the concept to figure process. my 2 cents anyway.

  52. Batman says:

Darren Douglas: The reason people state why they arent interested is to let SideShow know. At Convention, in an informal interview I was told how surprised SideShow was at the overwhelming negativity surrounding the Maul Expansion pack’s high price.
Sure, they could figure it out by lopsided purchases; but, when they see the “Im not buying” it hits home & hard.

for this reason, I let Sideshow know when they do well, and when they dont. When theyre priced right, and when theyre overpriced. And, quite frankly, theyre getting a bit overpriced. But, unless we make them aware, via the comment section, they’ll never know.

And, that is why we state why we wont buy. And, that is why people state they are buying. But, as one person stated, never before has a figure created so much negative response. This should warn SS theyre off here. And if theyre $60, theyre way off. These are $20 at best figures; from the looks of it, anyway.

  53. Batman says:

Some funny comments up there. “Doing a figure of every person who saw the movie opening day” by Jak; I’ll be in stitches for a while over that one. And, the “Barbie Military” comment by Chris. too funny.

  54. Nonie Rider says:

Also, I was surprised a few weeks ago to hear people here saying that they’re glad Sideshow ISN’T doing a 12″ Slave Leia because the visible joints would bother them. Me, I guess I’m used to ignoring visible joints on other figures (Hasbro, Mattel, Kenner…) for almost 50 years, and still think a Slave Leia would sell quite well.

You know what I’d like to see Sideshow do? One of their weekly surveys on the subject. “If we create a 12″ Leia in Slave Outfit, would you buy it? 1) Yes! 2) Probably. 3) Maybe. 4) Only if you also offered soft vinyl “skins” for the arms and torso, like the ones made for Japanese ball-jointed dolls. 5) No, because the joints would still bug me. 6) No, I’m just not interested in a Slave Leia figure.

    Or some such.

    –Nonie

  55. Nonie Rider says:

Obviously, a lot of us don’t want Endor Troopers and a lot of us do, neh?

However, since they ARE only backround characters and of limited interest, I agree that three at once, especially at those prices, is a bit much.

And once you break some customers’ buying streak, I do hope they’ll still pick up all the later figures in the line.

Myself, I’d rather see “background scenery” characters like this done with minimal gear and sold at lower prices. That way you’d still get the completionists rather than just the few military-focused buyers.

    –Nonie

  56. jason2885 says:

I like these figures and am glad Sideshow is shaking up the line. I mean really this just blew this line wide open with possiblities, and if you dont like them dont buy them, it will just leave more BW for me on PPO days in the future. I have every exclusive version released so far and am glad I do. This would be the last Star Wars line I would ever give up.

  57. choopie says:

Curious choice of characters. While I like Sideshow’s products and love SW we are just getting oversaturated with SW product in such a short period of time. Sideshow has put out so much SW that their other product categories are suffering for it, and I wonder why the rush for so many 12″ figures, and especially of such generic characters. Sideshow, you don’t have to release every Tom, Dick and Harry in the SW universe to gain a faithful fan following. This line will not last forever and SW is way too big to cover everybody. And even if you were to build such a large product base, what collector would be able to keep up with it all? Quality, not quantity, Sideshow.

  58. Wayne in England says:

Please, please, please reconsider Sideshow. I think you will see the lowest pre-order numbers yet, and ask yourseleves is it worth losing so many completists so the sake of very low numbers on these 3 ‘characters’.
Where do they fit in? What is the point of them? I know you listen to your collectors, so please listen to us. After Maul, you now have 9 items annoucned and only one of them is a main stream character. While the Leia is a must, Bib Fortuna is an okay choice, Jabba is an expensive one, Crumb, Throne, Plo Koon and three soldiers are hardly going to attract new collectors to the line. Next next couple of releases announced are now important to this line! Please PLease Please don’t mess it up! Please!

  59. Sompeetalay says:

Please give them all a name like Nik Sant. If you don’t use any established names, please give them new names :)

  60. Eddie says:

Another thing worth mentioning, like it has been discussed before but need to be reiterated, these Sideshow figures are going up in price. There will be a point in which collectors will stop buying these since it is starting to seem that we are not getting our money’s worth considering that the bodies are pretty much standard.

Sideshow, please, be careful. It is starting to look as if you are going over your heads.

  61. darthsnook says:

I want all three. Does the bundle include all of the exclusives?? Could this be clarified?

  62. DarthNeil says:

I think I’ll be holding off on this one— you have to choose your battles, and being reminded of how wookies became teddy bears to satisfy marketing goofs, makes the Endor Battle not one that I particularly want to relive. Bring on a Padawan Obi-Wan… Chewbacca… C-3PO & R2D2… Bespin Luke… Colt 45 smooth Lando… slave Leia (just in time for Jabba’s arrival)… There’s only so much money in my Star Wars pot… Not all of us are millionaires.

  63. OOT chick says:

I’m even more negative to this character choice after a few days…now it seems it will be a month minimum before we get a recognisable character that all the fans actually want (padawan Obi-Wan!!!). Seriously how many products generate this many negative comments?

  64. lantern lad says:

Yeah, these are cool, but I think I’m going to hold off on them… maybe.

I can’t wait for Stormtroopers, Clonetroopers and Biker Scouts (imagine the flip top helmet!)! I can’t even imagine how cool a snowtrooper (galactic marine) will look for this line!

  65. anthony says:

hahaha Nik Sant = Saint Nick

  66. Chris says:

These will go great with my Military Barbie !

  67. He says:

Sideshow, I have an important question about the Endor Strike Force Bundle offer. Just how “short” is “short” in “available for only a short time”? Hours? Days? Will oversees collectors have to set their alarm clocks to 3 AM, to make sure we don’t miss out when the newsletter goes up? Or can we relax and order the bundle the next morning?

  68. Captain Tazer says:

    Endor rebel Commandos?
Although I’m certain they look great in build-up and clothing, what’s the point with these as they are not main characters? Not going to bother with this line – I’ll get back to you when there’s a release of imperial troopers.

  69. Tony says:

Not bad at all, but i’ve no interest in the 12″ figures, Can we please!!!!! have another premium format figure soon my credit card is getting dusty.

  70. Wayne in England says:

These figure are a weird choice. Releasing a huge Jabba the Hut was a surprise, and a welcome one. Releasing so many Jedi, as I’m sure you are aware, was being to wear thin with some collectors. But do we really need background soliders, when there are so many characters that need doing first. These should have been released in a couple of years time, not as the line is in its early stages. I think Sideshow are taking a huge risk here, and I pray it doesn’t backfire. Many people will want to collect one of everything, and as soon as they start seeing figures like this, they will deceide its time to stop collecting, and maybe only pick the very best characters, instead of one of everything. Had you released one Endor Solider, it may have been okay, but to do three, casuals collectors may stop collecting. I really hope these don’t do to much damage to this line, but think they may.

  71. Skullsplitter says:

Not so interested in these particular figures, but Sideshow’s got the right idea. Especially with the bundle, this will save me a fortune on shipping for, hopefully future armie sets. Dollar for dollar you just can’t get any better quality, sculpts, accessories & price point. Thanks & way to go Sideshow. Keep up the good work!

  72. Kodi says:

Every line has it’s fluff figures. These are absolutely boring and put the ‘Exclusive’ collector in a pickle. Drop the cash for a three piece set of ‘Who Cares’ figures, or collect an incomplete Sideshow Star Wars 12″ line. Are these figures exclusive versions? If SS wants to sell any of these, they should be. NOW more than ever, more information will be needed before a purchase is even considered.

  73. magnus6899 says:

Hey Gus if you’ve ever watched Return of the Jedi you would see that Rebel Commando Nik Sant is in the movie.

  74. Gus says:

I’m not dropping sixty clams for a doll of some Sideshow employee. What happened to making STAR WARS figures? Wake me up when you get back to that…

  75. JGordon24 says:

I wonder if these will sell out quickly. I will be at the race in Talladega when they go on sale this Friday, so I won’t be able to order them myself. I’m having a friend order them for me, but he’s got dial up internet. Hopefully he’s able to get through and order the 3-pack.

I think they look great even if they aren’t a real popular character from the Star Wars Universe.

  76. Strummer says:

    Would Wedge be appropriate here?

  77. Joe says:

I’ll have to pass on these, don’t get me wrong they look good, but why these 3 guys?
Why not a 3 pack of Bounty Hunters…Dengar,4Lom,Zuckuss.
Why not Imperial Officers? Admiral Piet, General Veers and Admiral Ozzel.

  78. Gary says:

I happen to like the Endor Rebel Commandos. Not sure if I am going to get the bundle until I see more information about it. While I think everyone is entitled to their opinion about their like or dislike of these figures, I would suggest that SSC might be taking this approach with choosing these figures to launch their Militaries of Star Wars line to keep the anticipation up for what’s comimg next in the line. Think about it. If they made all the figures that have been mentioned in these posts first, then people would loose interest in the line fairly quickly because they have the figures that they want. To mix lesser known characters into the line prolongs the anticipation and is a good marketing strategy for keeping the interest in the line going. I beleive that SSC will release all the chracters asked for in this line eventually but they will spread them out for the reasons I stated above.

  79. arnold says:

Great work Sideshow…I would love to get these on pre-order day…a 12 inch Rebel Hoth trooper would have been freakin’ brilliant though!

  80. magnus6899 says:

If you don’t like what SS is doing don’t complain about it, chances are someone out there wanted these figures. So if you don’t like it don’t even worry about ordering them, cause that it will make it that much more easy for the rest of us who WILL order them.

  81. Mike says:

If it wasn’t for there being three of them I would have bought one. I bought all of the Star Wars 12″ figures so far, but I really don’t want to spring for three minor characters at once, so I guess Endor won’t be in my Star Wars Sideshow display! Bummer, but that’s the way it has to be.

  82. S.Martin says:

WAH WAH WAH, THESE ENDOR COMMANDOS LOOK GREAT

  83. sam says:

SS please I beg you. Please make a 12″ Death star gunner! Please!

  84. KatyaR says:

I understand that a lot of people are disappointed that Stormtroopers or clones didn’t come first, but I don’t really see all the negative reaction. We’ve been warned that armor would be a while yet, and do you really want SSC’s list just to be a carbon copy of Hasbro’s? I like that there are going to be some background figures as well as the main characters.
Financially, I can’t justify all three (too bad, they’d look great in an Endor dio), especially at the raised prices, but will be picking one to add to the collection. Choosing which one will be the hard part, there’s something about each to recommend him-at first I was sure it would be Nik Sant, now after the closeups I’m back to deciding again. :\

  85. voncougar says:

    section-z, and others:
Not everyone only wants to display main characters. I love the EU and background/secondary characters in the SW universe. I am more than pleased to see not one but THREE Rebel troopers, which I’ve been rooting for since the first announcement.
I’m getting all three, because they’re all well done and unique. I’m going to get Hoth troopers, Rebel pilots, fleet troopers, etc.
I LOVE what Sideshow has been doing, and I hope/know they will keep it up for a long time to come.
Price-pointwise I’m a little saddened, but I won’t not get them just because it’ll be hard to afford them. If they were cheaper, even sweeter, but I won’t complain.

And dude, if you say these are G.I. Joes in Star Wars gear, you must not know what G.I. Joes are :)

  86. section-z says:

I understand SS wanting to try something new, but why would anyone want to display one, let alone three GI Joes in Star Wars gear, that aren’t even main characters? Plus $60 bucks or whatever a piece, for some clothes, nope!

  87. Mark says:

    To:Gary Butler,
I Happen to agree with you 1000%

  88. barryo says:

i like the idea of army builders no doubt but i think they should come later, after more core chartacters are made or announced.ex: boba fett, darth, chewbacca(with fur, tricky i know but ssc could do it) sandperson, stormtrooper(interchangeable armor….made into sandtrooper, 501st, etc.) just to name a few. and i have to say if you are making military figures such as these the price should be lower than reg 12″ line or ssc will miss out on a market other than completist collectors or dyed in the wool ssc collectors. drop the price to 40 or even lower and bring in more collectors into the market, otherwise keep production numbers low and get these into the hands who really appreciate the effort. i for one will pass on these because quite frankly they just dont do it for me at the same cost of the core characters. but to others who dig them, go for it. i really like that side show tries to fit every niche but at the rate from when announced to delivery i will be pushing 100 y.o. before i see what i think is the potential of this line.

  89. Steven S. says:

Another thought, the prices on these 12″ figures are climbing with each release. I wish they had a lot more gear and accessories for the asking price. If I may invoke another companies name, I don’t consider them a direct competitor of sideshow. Both companies put out great product but in different catagories. Dragon ltd. includes a lot of gear and if they do have a pricey figure it is in correlation to the inclusion of a big accessory, like a cannon or a horse, or extra gear.
This new Star Wars militaries is the perfect line to really step up the extra gear for the troops.

Feel free to moderate this comment right off the board becuase of the mention of another comany i just wanted to request more accessories please!

  90. Steven S. says:

    Now that’s funny…

    “jak Says:
    September 28th, 2006 at 10:21 pm
What’s next, figures of the people who went to see the movie opening day? “

    —–

I like that SS does try to do figures other than endless costume changes for the main 3 characters. That being said, Endor troops would not have been my debut choice for this line. (gotee guy looks like he is going to fall asleep).
I would have gone with a Snowtrooper to open the line then the following week offer a snow enviorment base with the blaster cannon on tripod.
Follow that up with a Rebel Hoth trooper.
Then hit us with both blaster barrels and announce 3 different stormtrooper figures at once, like the endor dude deal above.
Or two storm troopers and a variety of gear…

  91. S.Martin says:

THESE FIGURES ARE GREAT AS USUAL SIDESHOW HAS MADE THE RIGHT DECISION IN WHAT FIGURES TO PRODUCE STAR WARS RULES AND IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT CHARECTER THEY PRODUCE SIDESHOW BRINGS JUSTICE TO ANY STAR WARS FIGURE FROM THE NOT SO POPULER TO THE POPULER SO KEEP GOING SIDESHOW MAKE ANY PERSON,CREATURE, JEDI,SITH,ETC.ILL BE THERE PROUD WITH MY HEAD HELD HIGH.KEEP UP THE MOST EXCELENT WORK SIDESHOW YOU GUYS ROCK

  92. vader1700 says:

come on, aren’t we all tired of the same old hasbro 12inch figures. give us something new. these endor figures are boring. i love the workmanship in sideshow’s figures and statues , but how many vaders, or han’s do we need. please use some imagination and sculpt something new. thanks for reading.

  93. Steve says:

What is WITH Sideshow and all the figures from ROTJ, arguably the WORST film in the series? So far that film has yielded the most figures: Jedi Luke, Leia as Boushh, Bib Fortuna, Jabba, TWO Jabba accessory packs, and now THREE Endor soldiers? What’s next, Lando as Skiff Guard? Moff Jerjerrod? The Rancor Keeper? An Ewok three-pack? Come ON, Sideshow! You have yet to put put a SINGLE figure from ANH, the film that started it all!

Wake me up when you put out a Stormtrooper, a Rebel Fleet Trooper, or any recognizable character from ANH or TESB…

  94. Mikel says:

Sideshow has done it again! I cannot wait for the Bundle pre-order! Thanks fro making the best Star Wars figures ever!

  95. Mike says:

What a disappointing way to kick off a new line.

  96. Eddie says:

Unfortunately, I think that I might get only one of these since the Rebel Soliers are BORING. The Clonetroopers had a certain cool factor due to their calculating methods and the Stormtroopers are the quintesential canon fodder for the good guys therefore deserving cool Sideshow figures.

Sideshow might be having problems conceptualizing Stormtrooper and Clonetrooper armors. That is why after almost a year of having the line we haven’t seen these characters.

  97. EE from Denver says:

I want to add that although I think these figures are bit overpriced, the idea behind them is great.

There are a lot of people who all they want is Jedi, Sith or clones…but there are a lot of us who really do enjoy these types of figures. I really want to see Naboo soldiers, Fleet troopers, and hoth soldiers one day! The military of SW is not boring at all!

  98. nick says:

Amazing work SS. I can’t wait for these I just hope I’ll have a good window on the 5th to get the budle. How about doing sometime in the evening so people can be out of work and ready to spend on their credit card.

  99. rogue_one says:

I think these ROCK! Wonderful to see something different beyond clone trooper #4,565 –not to mention seeing something in the 12″ scale that’s never been done before. I’m going for the bundle!

  100. EE from Denver says:

    Lots of mixed feelings here.

At $60 each you’ll still get the relative small amount of dedicated completists buying all three, but many of the pick and choosers will scoff at the price and pass.

$45-$50 would have intrigued MANY MANY more people.

  101. Falleensith says:

Look it’s larry the Cable Guy as a Republic Commando Sergeant Git “R” Done Sideshow…

  102. Adam says:

Some people haven’t been that excited for Endor Soldiers, but I personally think they are more representive of an Infantry/Marine all-purpose type Rebel. Sure I’d dig a Tantive Trooper but do you really think they go to battle wearing those funny trojan helmets. Those were probably more for cermonial use. And who fights wearing a shirt with a collar like that? Its no wonder they got beat!

Hoth Troopers are cool but there’re only good when its cold outside.

I like the Endor Soldiers. Anyone that ever played Battlefront know they show up everywhere. They fight on Bespin, Yavin, Coruscant, Tatoinne, ect, ect. Thier all purpose berets. They look rugged. Like a bunch of bikers you wouldn’t want to #*&% with. I even recognize the bearded one, but I’m not sure “goatees” were in vogue in ’83.

Only thing I would’ve like is an African American added. Thanks to affirmative action, he was part of the Strike Team that punked the Imperials into running out of thier crib.

    Endor Soldiers Rock!!!!

  103. Adam says:

I can only afford 1 Medicom trooper, but with the way SSC prices I can’t afford “not” to pick up all 3. Having this kind of quality with an American toy company makes it easier to army build. All 3 look distinctly different different I don’t feel like I’m paying out 3X for the same figure! Now I’m wishing I bought more than one Bespin Han. Hopefully, I’ll live to see an General Han Solo of Endor with his own trenchcoat/ROTJ headsculpt. I’m with Trevor on this one…it would look cool to have Han backed up with his “guerrilla/jungle posse”.

  104. Suzanne says:

I might have purchased these if they were 4″ figures, but to me the 12″ line has a place of more prestige — and these just don’t do it. How about some figures that were actually in the movies?

  105. Javier says:

Good, I can save some money on these. Thanks for the break :yep:

  106. Sunscout says:

The “bundle” makes this aquisition prospect very attractive. It doesn’t seem like they’ll be a lot of competition getting these figure as I can guage from reading the posts. The idea of Sideshow exploring the militaries of Star Wars seems a good way to go for a company that already has a military line history . What’s next? Hopefully Biker Scouts? Just as long as we don’t see General Jar Jar pop up, then I ‘m for giving the line a chance.

  107. Falleensith says:

    One word Sideshow BORING!

  108. Kozin says:

Man, I’m excited to see these! I army build, and I plan on getting at least 6 of each. It’s a figure that hasn’t been done before, and having 3 different ones allow for mix-n-match of parts. I’m sure we’ll see all types of stuff coming out for army builders, tho I can’t see a Jawa army. God help me when they release the stormtroopers.

  109. Gary Butler says:

SS> With great dissapointment I have to acknowledge some of the negative feedback posted. To the Fans of Star Wars the role players of the military were of no concern outside the main characters of the rebel alliance. MAny of us were hoping for the clone troopers special forces bundle pack or the evolution of clone trooper to storm trooper. The dark side is much richer in military bravado. The only intrest in the Rebel military is prior to Episode 3 when the clone troopers special forces were fighting for the republic(Commander Cody). So whats next an x-wing piolot? Plus none of these figures are recognizable. They look like G.I. Joes dressed in Star Wars gear. Please SS don’t milk the fans for $$ give us the essential pieces to form the true collection of the movies. the true essence of Star Wars. Not the hidden images or flybys of characters that are insignificant to the overall skeem.
Fellow bloggers if your in agreement how about a clone trooper 501st Hoo Rah!

  110. darren douglas says:

    Love ‘em, gonna get ‘em.
Still can’t understand why folk go out of their way to point out that they WONT be getting them, do you post on every forum for every toy you wont be getting? Must be exhausting!
Gotta say though, I’d rather they went with some dude with a little more character in his face than that goatee guy, he don’t look so tough, bet he gets picked on by ewoks!
    (errr, no offence!)

  111. ejb says:

So, no exclusive item? Grabbing the bundle.

  112. CoolHandHan says:

I’m glad there is a bundle option. At least we will get a little something for ordering all three. And Nik Sant…white beard…Saint Nick, anyone? Ugh. Do character names always have to be a reference to SOMETHING?

  113. POTAfan says:

That beard is ridiculously thick. And why would anyone want a figure with a Sideshow employee’s head lying atop it?

  114. Mark says:

Wow…Sideshow. I’m a big fan and my hat’s off to you guys for doing these figures. I can see some people are really excited about them. I (personally) couldn’t be less interested in them but I sincerely admire you for offering them up to the fans.

  115. andre says:

I was really getting ready to tear you guys a new one, wondering why, if you’re were going to go in this direction, you couldn’t at least do more iconic Rebel soldiers, like a Tantive IV Rebel fleet trooper, or even a trio of Hoth Rebel soldiers from “Empire”, instead. So, that said, I’m still not sure what I’m going to order, I just don’t have the room for 12″ army builders, then again, I didn’t technically have room for “the Order of the Jedi” figs., either!

  116. Derek says:

Im not really clear – are these limited? Is the bundle filled with exclusives? Are they inclusive? Do we need to stay at our computers hitting refresh all day next thursday not to miss out?

  117. spugg says:

Figures look realy kool, lets just hope the 60 dollar trend isnt continuing with a bunch of people that arent even main characters.

  118. Astro666 says:

So, since it is only a standard pre-order for the Rebel Commando Infantry Soldier, I take it that means there will not be an exclusive available for him?

  119. SebCanada-CEO says:

Very nice but I will pass on these…

There are just too many other characters I want to get.

    Regards

    -Seb

  120. jak says:

What are they smoking when they decide who to do as a figure? What’s next, figures of the people who went to see the movie opening day?

  121. Batman says:

THANKS SS. I need a huge break on SW items. With just about everything else due out in March, Im gonna need it.
Now, to everyone who said I cant just say “No!”, here’s proof I can.
Good luck to everyone who wants these.

  122. rjd4short says:

I am in for the bundle, without hesitation. Great start on the military line and can’t wait for the next.

  123. Gruff Old Bear says:

    Hey! That’s BRANT! Where’s Dusty?

  124. S.Martin says:

Oh yea does the bundle pack come with the exclusive pieces sure hope so cause that wouldnt be cool if they didnt

  125. S.Martin says:

Looks great cant wait for the bundle pack

  126. Myrick says:

Wow. Not what I expected. I have to see more of the figures…Oh what am I saying, I’m gonna get them!

  127. Trevor S says:

They all look awsome I guess I will have to buy all three to put behind Han but i will give Han the trech coat. Another awsome piece SS. THANKS!!!

  128. Neil says:

Anybody changed their minds on these with that announcement?
