If you guys think this figure is expensive, spare a thought for us European collectors – the Stormtrooper and Vader are usually priced at well over £100 ($200 to you)in the UK!! I have the Stormtrooper and Vader and think that they are superb figures but could definitely do with being slightly larger. Although they don’t have as many accessories as the SS figures, the costumes are probably of a better quality than the SS figures (especially Vader’s cape compared to the rather shabby cloaks thet the Jedi figures have arrived with)and the figures do seem to be more poseable.
I will order a clone trooper anyway but I really hope SS get on with producing an Imperial trooper soon as I was really disappointed to see the first of the military series was load of non-descript rebel troopers.
well, I did it. I ordered one of these lil’ guys. and I have ZERO buyers remorse. None. Don’t you see I had to do it?
I def agree that medicom’s price is too steep, though if you compare their deluxe RAH nude figure vs. the sideshow nudes, you will see why. Still too pricey though.
As for the scale, I disagree that medicom produces out of the norm. If you own a Dragon figure, vintage GI Joe, a Jun Co figure, Action Man, etc., you will notice that the Sideshow is taller than all other figures. Most “12 inch” figures are actually based on an average male height of 5′-6″ or 5′-8″. Sideshow is one of the few companies that did theirs based on a 6ft man.
I will have to pass on this guy, although he looks awesome. I am a huge Medicom RAH fan but I haven’t picked up any of their Star Wars figures yet. I think I am going to wait it out for Sideshow’s version.
There is just so much stuff being made available through the web-site, that I am going to have to start watching how much swag that I pre-order.
too rich for my blood for a 12″ figure…….but those willing to fork it out…enjoy. i only hope that the cost of ss troopers will be more in line with what the other 12″ are selling for. 50-60 bucks is manageable yet still a little high but 150…..no way. im already having to squirell away for the jabba set. why why why wasnt i born rich instead of good looking………LOL……just kidding folks…..i have to sneak up on mirrors. well to all that order these i hope they are all that and you have many years of geat battles when you play with them. you do play with your toys right? come on, open em’, play with em’, have fun, peace out.
I am EXTREMELY disappointed in Sideshow for not making their own Clone Troopers at this time. I have ZERO interest in the Endor Rebels, especially when they could have spent the time making a Clone Trooper of some kind. I’m passing on this Medicom figure, because I know for a fact that it’s expensive. There are some big mistakes being made in the line for certain.
Usually the RAH have a good mix of hands, so hopefully this one will also come with the large heavy blaster rifle. I know I was very impressed with the RAH Stormtrooper that I gat a few months ago.
JoesGotFlow, and everyone else who is asking. This is a priority pre-order– what this means is, SideShow does not tell us the price (expect it to be a hefty price, probably $175-225). It also means that everyone who wants one has to fight for one beginning Friday morning at 10am PST Noon CST and 1pm EST. I’ll look, and see, but, I doubt I’d even pay $60 for this one. We’ll see.
Good luck to all who want one.
I really liked medicom figures for their quality product. And being an owner of of their 12′ Storm Trooper, ROTS Darth, and Jedi Luke I would say that I really do not care about the scale and even displayed them side by side with my Sideshows stuff. My only concerns here is the price. I just hope that SS will offer this at a more discounted price. Pricing this over $120 will be very difficult to swallow specially if you want to buy multiples. Also, I’m hoping that this clone trooper comes with the heavy rifle blaster with extra hand grips and not just with pistol blaster. If I’ll be paying for the price that I think it is, then these extra accessories is a must. If it does, then I’ll buy multiple of this for my custom versions of 501st, Shocktrooper, Utapau Trooper, and Shadow Clone Trooper!!!!!
Maybe SS is carrying the Medicom SW stuff not to replace anything they are doing themselves, but because it’s a case of ‘keep your friends close, and your enemies closer’. Maybe since Medicom is doing these figures, SS feels that if they get in on the distribution, they share in the $$$ and Medicom isn’t competing for the same market. And if you think that SS won;t be doing clones because of this, bear in mind that Medicom’s first SW figure was Jedi Luke, and so was Sideshow’s. Give SS some time, they’ve only been selling SW figs less than a year.
Not sure if i’ll get one these, i’m holding on hoping medicom release a special ops version with the blue markings, I already own two RAH stormtroopers and the ROTJ vader they blow sideshow 12″ figuers out the water worth every penny.
As much as I want this and others from Medicom, I will patiently wait for Sideshow to deliver thier magic.
It looks nice, but I think I will pass. I’m still smarting over the fact that Medicom made a second version of The Rocketeer that outshines the original in some aspects (comes with a gun and hands that will hold it, as opposed to the closed fisted gloved hands of the original). Bah.
Now if they release Boba Fett through Sideshow, I will snap it up in a second (or Bossk, or IG-88, or Dengar).

Please Sideshow Collectibles, tighten up the bodies on all the 12″ Lines, especially Star Wars. Just too loose form the time they arrive and worse as times goes by. If the body joints used for Sideshow’s 12″ lines stayed tight this would add huge value to me. On the flip side my 12″ Mace Windu had such a stiff elbow joint I thought it would break when I tried to give it more than a 30 degree angle. Time for everyone who agrees to chime in! And now yet another vote for some female Jedi like Aayla Secura because we all know Sideshow loves millitary figures they will do all the Clones and all the Troopers Rebellion or Imperial we want but I have serious doubts we will get the quantity of each we need. Overall I am impressed with the Sideshow 12″ line. Good job Sideshow Collectibles! Too bad we can’t buy stock in the company.
well i am going to get this, got me some medicom stuff and there really cool. picture the trooper bowing befor aniken or on a knee taking aim to protect his lutenents. as 4 the size, it matters not if he is on a knee. later bros.
weres boba
Hmmm… This guy no doubt will be expensive; if for no other reason as to “show” us how good of a deal a 12″ character is for 50.00-60.00…GROAN…
I wouldn’t call these 1/6 scale. I own the RAH Darth Vader, and compared to say a Sideshow figure he is considerably shorter. So this clone trooper will no douubt look good, but won’t be strictly to scale. So i think i’ll pass.
This is one of the coolest figures I’ve ever seen!!!!!
Way to go!!!!!!!
the figure will definately be way overpriced. id definately wait for a sideshow. plus, although medicom is a great company, they never have exclusive accesories, so just wait until sideshow makes one
Keep in mind, the edition sizes of all the Medicom lines are extremely limited, often to the number of the year made. If they follow this rule for the Clone Trooper, Medicom will produce 2006 or 2007 of them. At the very most, the Clones will be 12″ total with helmet on and there will be no face under it. Now if the Sideshow Anakin is just over 12″ the Clone Trooper from Medicom will be shorter than Anakin at worst and at best, the same height. This difference in scale is too obvious when you put an armoured character with a helmet on next to a non helmeted character. If you want to see real scale SNAFU-isms put a Medicom Helmeted figure next to that of Hasblo figure. The outcome is a Biker Scout towers over and out bulks a Clone Trooper, Stormtrooper, Darth Vader etc.
Now, to be fair, especially because Sideshow offers Hot Toys products, I will include the following about those products. the Movie Masterpiece line is very nice even when they are called models or model kits. The ONLY thing “model” about them is some assembly is required.
More on the scale and other attributes of the Medicom RAH (Real Action Heroes) line. The only reason I would be getting any Medicom figure would be if it had armour like the Stormtrooper, Clonetrooper etc. to use them for a custom female figure as they are obviously smaller than Sideshow’s 12″ line (Star Wars) or otherwise. When you spend in access of $150.00 (that’s ONE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS)there is no room for the aggravation the difference in scale of these two lines cause. To be fair, the Medicom RAH figures have great articulation and hold their poses well. The joints start off stiff and remain that way for a long time unlike my favorite 12″ Star Wars line manufaturer. I still wonder if it is the very small edition sizes of the Medicom RAH lines that commands such a steep price. About $30 per figure accounts for shipping for each figure and if you buy them through a united States company you pay double for it. I have tens of thousands of dollars tied up in my collections and I look for accuracy, detail, articulation, and durability and then last, price. But $150-200? NoWAY.
Typically the Medicom RAH (Real Action Heroes) line of figures are very nice. They are pricey to say the least and ARE NOT in scale with Sideshow 12″ figures, Star Wars or otherwise. The Medicom Darth Vader rules but is too small. Major bummer there. Major. I wonder what the mentality is behind Sideshow peddling Medicom characters that we all know Sideshow will eventually produce. If you were to stand Sideshow’s 12″ Anakin next to Medicom’s Vader you would immediately realize the scales are different and that is why my Vader is displayed on the other side of the room away from all my Sideshow 12″ Star Wars figs. It’s sickening. Medicom’s sculpts are very nice and clean but for scale I’d go with Sideshow and Hot Toys, especially their (Hot Toys) Movie Masterpiece line. I have the Robocop and and Predator figures and they are just awesome. You can really appreciate the clean lines and precision in the sculpt on the RoboCop which adds to his mechanical appearance. I hope Sideshow uses some of Hot Toy’s ideas on articulation of the RoboCop knees and elbows when they do a C-Threepio.
Awesome, I’m sold!! Medicom figures are very detailed, although pricy but I’d rather have this one than those blah! Endor troopers anyday. The Endor troopers will be the first SS Star wars figures I’m passing on. SS don’t disappoint!
I hope this picture is just a prototype. I need to see a better picture before I decide to buy. However, I can preorder and cancel if I do not like the final picture.
The price is way off on this one I bet. I think I’ll wait for SSC to do it (and they wil). Yoda in 50 dollar vinal doesn’t do it for me either.
Why would SSC announce the new “militaries of Star Wars” line AND show a picture of Palpatine IF they were only going to do Rebel Troops????
Your assumption that SSC won’t make clones or stormtroopers I think is flawed. Otherwise, they’d call it “Militaries of the Republic/Rebellion” and not use Palpatine with such a dark tone. They won’t make nearly as much $$ of reselling imports as they will making their own, superior versions.
I have faith…
I disagree with you Trevor, Medicom did a 12″ Jedi Luke figure. It looked nice, I didn’t buy it cause of the price, but it also didn’t look too much like Mark Hamill. SS, I think did the figure more justice, especially with the head sculpt. I preordered the OT Stormtrooper and might do it with the Clone, mostly because to date there hasn’t been a decent version of them in 12″. Don’t get me wrong, the minute SS puts out their first one I’ll be ordering it, but sometimes it gets hard to wait. Sideshow should definately do the Galactic Marine and the 501st.
I’m really tepted. I wait and see what the price is. Really want one of these so hopefully I can swing it. I’ll be saving money by not getting Endor troops so here’s hoping!
Hmm, I’m tempted to get this guy, since I am a fan of Medicom’s RAH line, but will have to wait to see the price. There is all of the already pre-ordered stuff and the upcoming trio of Endor troopers but there is just so much stuff one can get at a time.
All the Sideshow version has on it’s side is the price. Medicom Clone looks great hope they will do other types
All the Sideshow version has on it’s side is the price. Medicom Clone looks great hope they will do other types
If you want a ROTS clone trooper in 1/6 scale, this will be it folks. Why would SS want to invest in tooling one when they can just sell you the Medicom? Same logic applies to all the characters we want in 1/6 scale – Boba Fett, Vader, OT Stormtrooper…all done by Medicom and someday available here.
It’s not a coincidence that Medicom is doing them and SS is not.
Looks good, but I’ll pass and wait for SSC’s version. Too expensive.
Medicom’s RAH is too shorty, than Sideshow’s people.
I will wait for Sideshow’s Troopers.
Lookin’ good
Medicom 1/6th scale figures are actually smaller than Sideshow’s own 1/6th line. If you put the RAH Darth Vader up next to SSC Jedi Luke, you will see the two are not in proper scale, Vader is too short to be compatible with Luke. I have not seen the RAH Stormtrooper in person, which I’m guessing is going to be the same size figure to this new clone trooper, but my guess is the RAH line as a whole is a little shorter than the SSC figures in general, and that means (even though they are already too pricey!) I will wait for SSC to step up with their own Clones, Stormtroopers, etc.
Finally someone has offered a “basic white” version of the Ep 3 Clone Trooper. I hope SideShow does the same when they offer thier version of the Clone Troopers from Ep 2 and Ep 3. With few exceptions, SideShow being one of them, everyone knows that the Orient gets all the coolest toys. Most American toy companies produce crap marketed to the lowest common denominator, preserving only the “bottom line” and “profit margin”!
Oh yeah, for those who are really obsessive; the actual figure looks “exactly” like what you see in the pictured prototype!
I’ve pointed out some flaws with Medicom figures when compared to SideShow, but don’t misunderstand, Medicom produces incredibly detailed, well crafted Star Wars 12″ figures. The classic Stormtrooper is one of “the finest” interpretations offered to date. The only other is the Marmit, which good luck trying to find one for under $200-250. For those who can afford it, buy both-the SideShow version (Military Line just announced)and Medicom. You won’t be disappointed!
WHY!? WHY!? Can’t Sideshow make their own Clonetrooper!? This is going to be a pocket breaker for me if I decide to buy it! I am sorry, but I will draw the line at $70 for a 12″ figure. If it is more than $70 I am NOT getting it.
This announcement really takes the wind out of the sails of SSC’s Endor Trooper set for their Military line. What a weak start to a potentially incredible line. Just what we need, more good guys. The Japanese have it right, they are very bad guy heavy in their lines.
No Thanks! I’ll wait for Sideshow to make one. Medicom Toys are overpriced.
1/6 scale is 12″. Normally the Storm Trooper would be 6 feet tall…eh? I have the same question. Does this mean Sideshow won’t be producing one in their line?
I meant to say they will probably cost around $130. That is what the RAH stormtrooper costs.
i’m getting one!
They will probably be $175 or more. The stormtrooper is available at Star Wars shop. I would imagine this is the same, but clone instead. Cool but not worth the imported price.
AN amazing figure, can’t wait till the 27th
I also would like to know how much they are before I buy…
If it’s to scale with your 12″ SW line, which I don’t think it is, I’ll buy one. If not, I’ll wait for the real one.
I will only buy if it’s to scale with your current 12″ SW line. If not, I’ll wait for the ‘real’ one.
I’ll guess about $130 to $150. THIS AIN’T YOUR GRAMMA’S REAL ACTION HERO!
Would like to see more images. This one is just blah.
Looks nice but I think I’ll wait for Sideshow’s own version.
SICK! i want 12…
Does this mean Sideshow will probably not be doing a clone trooper anytime soon then? I really would liek this figure but Im sure it is twice as much as sideshow would cost.
awesome
somewhere around 300 probably
Most definitely over 100 bucs…I’ll wait for Sideshow’s
1st how much are they going to be???
awesome sold!
