Just one suggestion on shipping…put more protection in the box to protect the box the figure comes in!!!!!!!
Ron – Yep black and white is her colors.
He – I can even live with it if they do a new subset for EU…but yep…putting her in a “Lords of the Sith” Box is bad.
Sideshow – I will be checking in the cloak/robe issue mentioned by many above. We gots ta get it right! I’ll get back with you on that one.
The robe discrepancy was one of the first things I noticed and is my only gripe with the figure. The “hooded cloak” is listed in the accessories. Give us a sleeveless cloak Sideshow and she will be perfect.
Is he really black and white? How come no color, except for what she is swinging around? Seriously, I don’t know anything about this person. Did the cartoon/comic/book she was written about in have her as black and white color?
The exclusive will have an extra head with tattoos and different eyes like the comic.
I’m very excited about this figure (especially because the PPO’s start in an hour or so!).
However, I do have one concern about the figure. Sideshow’s usual attention to detail always shines in all of their products. The exclusive head design really gives the collector the option of their favorite incarnation of the expanded universe character. The one problem is that throughout most of the visualizations of this character I have ever seen, she simply has a black hooded cape, rather than a robe with sleeves.
Has anyone else noticed this discrepancy? (I didn’t take the time to look through all 100 comments)
Anyway…LOVE YA SIDESHOW. Hopefully, this is something you guys can look into!
(I’m still ordering the hell out of this figure, by the way…no matter what robe she ends up with.)
Any confirmation on what the exclusive is yet?

@ Dollface- agreed. Only Sideshow offers the exclusives, unless you want to pay huge mark-up. Look what happened with the Web-Exclusive Balrog. You need another mortgage to get one of those. Incidentally, enjoy the new Bond- looks good.
Jason, I believe that only the SS site has the Exclusives (except for the EBay scalpers)and all other online stores get a regular version. The Exclusive has an extra prop/ gadget that does not come w/ the regular version. Add all that in w/ what “He” says and you get a buying frenzy notorious for bringing entire servers down.
Damn, I was going to catch the new Bond movie tomorrow! Matinee. The Pacific time thing threw me but I was planning to be chowing on Nachos & melted movie cheese at around 1:00pm- but Asajj’s PPO is the same time! Maybe I can re-arrange a few things… see what I mean Jason, it’s important enough to upset one’s very routine….
Jason, what makes the exclusive versions so sexy, is not their monetary value you know. It’s more about the sensation to own something very limited and cool. There is also the hunting factor: it’s exciting to try and get your edition, and satisfying when you succeed. And if you don’t, you have to settle with the ‘fun’ to track down you item of interest elsewhere… it’s called collecting I suppose!
DarthCruel, I was wondering about the same thing: since Asajj never was a Sith, under which category would she fall? ‘Dark Jedi’ would be most suitable, but since there is no such category in the SSC SW line, ‘Scum and Villainy’ is the next best choice. I think SSC would make an unforgivable mistake if they would put her in a ‘Lords of the Sith’ box!!!
Bottom line is ; if they dont keep the edition size within reason , then it wont matter what ” sive ” you call it . I bought my Solo exclusive off Ebay for below what Sideshow would have cost because the run was 2000 . Keep the edition runs low and we will keep coming back . Some people will find something to complain about , go buy some mass produced Hasbro item that everyone has in their collection if you dont like the way Sideshow is doing it !

Dave, do you have access to a telephone? If you are not around the internet at the time of the pre-order, you can always call-in. You may be put on hold for a couple of minutes, but they always get to me when I call in. Just make sure to do it as close to 10am (pacific time of course) on the dot in case they sell out really fast on site.
I am not understanding the big deal about the exclusives. Are the worth more? The Anakin exclusive isn’t that much on Ebay. It’s more expensive them the original, but it’s not astronomical. Someone please tell me what the big deal is.
My solution is this: For figures that by gauging the discussions and whatnot appear to be very popular (more so than say background characters or generic troopers) offer a short-term Inclusive ordering window say 6,12, or even 24 hours instead of several days like they did for Darth Maul and Jabba the Hutt. By doing this, these figures understandably would be in higher demand and Sideshow could obviously sell more of them while still keeping the edition sizes pretty low and allowing serious collectors to still have a window of opportunity to get the figure without risking their jobs or lively hoods just to score an exclusive figure. What does everyone else think? What do you think Sideshow?
I’ve been reading the various posts for quite some time and have felt the need to comment periodically. I have heard that Sideshow often times pays attention and listens to legitimate concerns of it customers (not the gripes and complaints). There has been a fierce debate concerning PPO and Inclusive order. I personally love the thrill of being able to snag and exclusive. I mean, who can’t deny the pulse-pounding, palm sweating anticipation of seeing it you can get in through in time to place an order. But on the other hand, there have been times that I could not place an order when I wanted to. I missed the very first Luke and have been kicking myself ever since. So what do you do? Try to offer Sideshow a compromise. We all realize that they want to produce a product that people will want and in numbers that will hopefully sell out and make a profit (Can you blame them?) I have always purchased my sideshow 12 inch figures at my local store. Can someone explain to me the difference between exclusive and inclusive? Why Pre-order if you can get it at any online store when they are shipped out for the same price? When do you get the exclusives?
Great–another timeframe I won’t be home and won’t have access to the internet from work….another chance to miss an exclusive edition! This is fantastic! You guys and gals create fantastic toys, but you can’t seem to please the public when it comes to buying!

I’d really be interested in an answer to that! I think Grievous would be neat as a 12″, Hasbros wasn’t that good…

3 words…WE WANT VADER!!!! Please make a Vader worthy of my collection. The Hasbro versions either have a tiny head or a head big enough to have it’s own eco system (the ones w/ removeable helmets, that is…) I will be ordering Asajj, but I want to see Vader come down the pipeline.
Good. Another figure I can skip. I don’t care for Asajj Ventress for the same reason I didn’t care for Kit fisto: The charachter(s) is in my opinion too overrated. The only EU characher I will ever care to buy is Mara Jade. But for now, the figure I really want next is Count Dooku.
Hmm, tough choice. Am I going to be in line for a PS3 or am I going to be in front of my computer for the pre-order?

As commander of the SS Legion I order all you to stop crying for a Padme figure. SS is not in the business of making Barbie’s. Besides, how are you going to display her? smooching with Anakin? Mabey Anakin giving her the back of his hand but thats it!!!!!!!!!!
Trevor & Darth Cruel made some great points on 11/11/06. i’m hoping the above preview is a pre-production look & that those corrections (as mentioned previously) can be made. i really like the idea of a diorama style base, you could even take it a step further & have the bases stand alone or interlocking for figures that’d go together i.e. Anakin vs. Asajj. Anyway if you guys @ SS are listening there’s alot of great feed-back here for the taking, hope you do take it.
Along with the pre-order…I am really looking forward to the picture gallery. I can’t wait to get a really good look at Asajj! And at what the exclusive item is. I am hoping for her original lightsabers…both ignited and non-ignited versions.

thanks for the idea. You really got me debating on that one. If I could pull that one off, well I am in the wrong profession….lol. My younger brother offered to pre-order Asajj for me. So it looks like I still have other options. We shall see on 11-17-06….:)
Personally, I am quite content with the choices Sideshow has made in releasing figures. The mainstream characters they have not done like armored Vader and Princess Leia have already been done half to death. But by the same token…when they do release an already over-done character like Maul (who is never really over-done to me as he is one of my two favorite characters) they do such a good job that it makes me forget about previously done junk. Even the characters I just don’t care about such as Bib Fortuna command respect because of the job Sideshow has been doing.
Brent, are you forgetting that we already have a Leia on the way?
I will purchase this figure, but I’m a bit concerned at the direction and figure choices SSC is making. Their last two pre-orders have been for random Endor Commandos followed by Asajj Ventress, a figure most diehard Star Wars movie buffs (not Star Wars book buffs) are familiar with.
I completely agree with some of the earlier posters. SSC needs to mix in some ‘familiar faces’ or even the completists may fall by the wayside. SSC’s first 9 or 10 pre-orders were all mainstream characters, then all of the sudden they go a different direction.
Let me say this again, I WILL buy this figure this coming Friday, but SSC needs to get back to making the known characters.
Asajj Ventress is certainly worthy of being made, but not before a 12″ Princess Leia figure or a regular 12″ Padme figure..
Don’t lose momentum now, SSC.

I agree with the above poster about bases. I would love to see more diorama bases like the Tatooine & Mustafar bases that SS made. Those kinds of bases really make a heck of a differance when you display your figs & we all know these figs are only being bought by collectors for display & not by parents for the kids to play with$$$$$

More than any other 12″ figure in the series, Asaj has the potential to be the flagship, the very star of the Star Wars line. I’ve been won over by these teasers. Go team!
Although I love seeing th EU get treatment, I would prefer to see the mainstream characters receive figures first. And this should definitely not belong in the Sith line. That line is for Sith Lords, thus actual Sith Lords should be focused on. We have Maul and pre-suit Vader, but what about Dooku? And Palpatine, who is the ultimate villain? Those characters should have priority over Asajj.
sideshow keep doing your thing. don’t follow hasbro. do the characters you want to do .i am sorry i won’t be able to get the exclusive. i will just have to wait for regular. but great job sideshow.
Awesome…but a few details I would like to see that may or may not have been mentioned.
1) She wears gloves
2) Her lightsabers connect into one
3) She has tattoos on her head
4) Just a note: Unless you have a 6th EU line that was not mentioned during the inteviews that named the subsets for the Star Wars line…she belongs in the Scum and Villainy subset. She was never a Sith Lord. In fact she was never a Sith…never even trained by one. Only tested by Dooku.

Gotta agree with the poster that was wondering where her skull tattoos are. They really are a definitive part of the character. Having said that however, this may be the first SS 12″ figure I actually buy! I was sorely disappointed by how little the releases to date resemble their movie counterparts, but I suppose the fact that Assaj was never portrayed by an actress makes this one palatable. Hopefully the snow bunny Padme (which looks awesome in pre-production) is the beginning of a new trend in accurate likenesses…
If you were looking for a femaile character to choose for your next Star Wars figure, there are a lot in the ATOC such as Aalya. If this is to fill out the Sith then why not Dooko? It’s a Bizzare choice.
I am extremely happy this is an Exclusive edition, because I am a collector and not a seller.
The whimpy inclusive editions take all the thrill and fun out of the Sideshow Experience. Between the PPO and weekly newsletters, Sideshow has taken over a significant part of my life!
I have never experienced anything like this is my entire life of collecting.
Keep up the unique thrill of the hunt Sideshow.
SSC when will we get to see anything from ANH? How about Greedo or Tusken Raiders?
Great figure, though some minor mistakes:
1) Lightsabers aren’t straight but bent like Dooku’s
2) she has a cloak like Luke (but black), not like Sidious

Man, isn’t about time for some recognizable figures…A rebel hoth trooper, a stormtrooper, a tantive 4 trooper, a luke indagaobah fatigues…how about an ARC trooper…?
Wow! What a great looking figure i think i might have to go into hiding for X-mas cause i spent all my money on figures for myself. It would be nice if i stood a snowball’s chance on Mustafar of getting the exclusive but like the majority of us core collectors i more than likely won’t be lucky enough to snag one. Why can’t you make this an inclusive? Anyway as long as you’re in the EU what about a Mara Jade or Grand Admiral Thrawn? Another fantastic job but it’d be even better as an inclusive.
Looks good. While the flash presentation is cool, I hope you’ll be offering the standard photography preview as well (maybe with some hot black background ala Maul?)
Any chance or more custom-like stands like the one offered with Maul’s expansion set or the SDCC Vader? Seems like a small thing but they just make the figure POP when on display!

Looks great, I am very excited to get this figure, Asajj always felt like a very cinematic entry to the saga, I wish she had made it past production stage into the prequels. However, this preview has a couple issues:
- the aforementioned missing head tattoos;
- and the lightsaber hilts don’t appear to be curved.
Hopefully these will be correct by the time we get to preorder.

(continued)… SSC has been good to me since I was one of the first to get a news letter on Jedi Luke back in November 06. So Im not too mad. Actually the 17th is going to be a good day for me. An awesome seminar and then going on a mini-vacation with my wife. Im sorry, Assajj is a HOT item but shes not as HOT as my wife.

CRAP!!! It is finally going to happen to me. I always heard the complaints from fellow collectors and I ALWAYS sympathized with them for not being able to make it to the “Exclusive” pre-orders whether it be confliciting work schedules, class or for whatever reason. Trust me, I felt bad for the collectors who missed out on these awesome Star Wars figures. I was one of the lucky ones who works in an office environment where I have easey access to the Web. But on 11-17-06, I am going to fall into the group that I strongly sympathized with. I will be out of town for a seminar that starts EXACTLY when pre-order begins. Then soon after, I will spend the rest of the day with my wife for our 6th year wedding anniversary. Needles to say, I will have no access to a PC or my MAC. Am I mad at SSC?? No, not really. All I have to is look around in my home office and see 7 kick ass figures that SSC supplied me with since they began the 12inch SW line and it makes grateful that a co. like SSC exists.

SOLD! This will be my second 12″ Sideshow Star Wars figure. The first being Sith Anakin. She’ll make a really nice addition to my dark side / Imperial shelf here at work!

I really love this 12″ but I have to ask, where are Asajj’s head tattoos? It seems like they forget them on all the toys and it makes me sad. The head tattoos add so much to her overall look. If these haven’t already gone into production maybe they can still be added? Come on Sideshow you guys try so hard for authenticity so please if it’s not too late PLEASE add the head tattoos!

I’m not a fan of the EU. Looks pretty good, but since I don’t consider the far-fetched EU (like the story of Ventress) canon, I’m passing on this one. Maybe they will retool the head a bit and make a Sly Moore…yeah, wishful thinking on my part.
The preview of Asajj looks great. Since she is becoming more and more popular, the Priority Pre-Order will be nerve-wracking again. I too wonder what the exclusive accessory will be. I just hope I can nab one on the 17th, and her price doesn’t reflect any continuing upward climb. Don’t think we haven’t noticed! I still wish we could see pics of her with her accessories before the Pre-Order. So far, I say a job well-done! I’ll be here, and good luck to everyone!

I have to concur with Andre. SS, you do up this big whoopdeedoo article about how you’ve found a compromise for making everyone happy: you introduce Inclusion. Yet, after the second time, it gets excluded, for exclusion?
I want to reiterate past complaints regarding the exclusive versions.
1. They ignore the widest spectrum of collectors: The working members. Its bad enough the poloiticians screw the working class, but, does SS have to also?
2. It’s a major aggrevation HOPING one can get in on the exclusive.
3. Here’s one for the SS bottom-line: Limiting items to exclusive limits SS’s take. Inclusion brings in more money.
4. Collectors dont care about value. Scalpers do. I am both. But, Im a collector first. Sure, if I can sell something for several hundred when i pay very little, I’ll give it up in a heartbeat. But, collecting does come first.
I’ll try for this, regardless– unless you raise the price again. $60 is a bit high; after tax and s/h that $60 is over $70.
This does look great. All I am asking is keep the collector in mind– not scalpers who dont care.

Awsome detail sideshow. I’m setting my calender and clock to make sure this beauty does’nt slip through my hands. Please keep the price low. Curious thought though, did the color of the Padme head sculpt have anything to do with Assajj being chosen first? If so, I believe this figure will breath new life into Assajj’s character. It gives her a beautiful, yet dangerous quality. To dance with her is to ” beautifully ” dance with death.

AWESOME!! She comes with a cloak – a standard for all Sith Lords, at least up until Dooku and Vader (but they were “converts”, as I like to call them). I can’t think of any before them who didn’t. It just adds so much to her darkness – the hidden visage behind a dark veil. Now….all we need to know is what the exclusive will entail…
