Sean Connery was born for the part of 007. thats probably why he made 7 movies for the franchise. You will never beat good ‘ole sean as 007, but Pierce Brosnan and MABY Daniel Craig will come close
is craig in the works? is ANY james bond figure in the works…. gosh guys make one! i get that fans would rather see spider man and stuff as figures but here us out! man start re-stocking! listen too your custmers, restock the james bond figures, and actually make real money!
brosnan, is one of the best bond actors, simply put, the world has too offer. not only was he suave, but he had that special “zing” that the bond franchise needed. goldeneye was trueley a great movie, so was twine, tnd, a dad was ok, i liked brosnan and think his movies were the most enjoyable. he also brought a lot of action too the series, the gunfight at the dock in twine was quite exsilarating. the villains he fought against were intresting, i liked zao and 006. and, lets just face it….. brosnan borought not only good gadgets, but humor also. lets take connery. style, womanizer, pure awesome basically, and morph him with timothy dalton, a angry tough as nails bond, and morph him with moore, a also tough funny bond. not only that brosnan brought his on piece too the role. i really liked pierce and was sad when i found out he wasn’t doing casino royale.
When will the Daniel Craig Bond come out? The new movie Quantum of Solace comes out in Nov.
Brosnan is my all time favorite, it will be my pleasure to see him back in “Mamma Mia” being directed by Phyllida Lloyd.
Okay, now do Daniel Craig! Best Bond ever!
…and would it kill you guys to do some more villains? There’re plenty more Bond Girls left as well. The Bond line has been fantastic so far, but it feels like we’ve barely scratched the surface here.
All of the Bonds are 2 hours plus of glorious cinematic popcorn fluff that are easy on the eye. Take them for what they are, pure entertainment. Whichever actor has played Bond has done well enough to allow the franchise to get away with this form of movie 20+ times!!!
Have your favourite, but in the end it does’nt really matter…
Long live James Bond. What an inspiration to all men, particularly when it comes to the ladies.
Please Sideshow tell me that you have a Daniel Craig Bond in the works. Holy crap was he an awesome Bond.
Because Pierce Brosnan WAS 007!!!
HI, WILL YOU BE MAKING A DANIEL CRAIG CASINO ROYAL JAMES BOND FIGURE? THANK YOU.
Funny, after seeing “Casino Royale”,I forgot that Brosnan ever played Bond.
Piece Brosnan is the quintessential embodiment of James Bond, encompassing the suave panache & debonair persona of the MI6 super spy. Brosnan’s acting talents and confidence mustered the qualities needed to accomplish many a heroic exploits of detection & seductive trysts inspired by the writings of Ian Fleming, and is what triggered my interest in the 007 legacy.
He embodied the irresistible nature of the character with daring feats, quirky lines, and the apprehension of dastardly villains bent on destroying the world. Without a doubt Brosnan’s stature & presence is the essence of how Bond was meant to be manifested in the physical form.
I will miss that devilish smile and the trust that this man can carry out the duties of saving the world from the wicked men that plan to gain power and wealth from the unsuspecting inhabitants of this world.
Brosnan departure of this glorious portrayal of a heroic covert operative leaves a void that no other can fill at this time.
Pierce Brosnan was destined to play this part, his abilities are so pronounced that even Roger Moore revered Brosnan and said “once the world sees Pierce as Bond they’ll forget about Sean and I.”
I will miss Brosnan because he brought back life to the franchise when it seemed it might have been lost forever!
Goldeneye was great! He was almost Bond then he wasn’t due to Remington Steele (great show as well), then finally he donned the tuxedo and the Bond that many had been waiting years to see had finally arrived!
he’s the bond i grew up on man! c’mon…you can forget that?
he made that suit look good!
He was the only irish bond!
you cant deny it…..he made that suit look goood! its even better that sideshow recreated it perfectly
Although I have heard good things about Daniel Craig as Bond, I believe Pierce Brosnan played the role with a good balance of resolve, determination, and seriousness. He did not play the role with a smirkiness that typified the Bond of the 70’s and early ’80’s. Pierce also had a presence with the ladies, while still connecting with male audiences; something that Sean Connery did well from the very first Bond film, Dr. No.
I believe Pierce’s rendition of Bond saved the series from falling farther and farther away from Connery’s portrayal of Bond and Fleming’s initial vision. Had Pierce’s Bond failed, I feel that the series would not have continued, and there would not have been an opportunity for Daniel Craig to bring Bond into the post 9-11 world.
Long live Pierce, and best of luck, shaken not stirred, to Daniel!
Simple… the teaser trailer for GOLDENEYE started up with the familiar theme and then a man in shadow makes a familiar move from the right of the screen to the left and shoots out the number 007. He simply tells us… “You expecting someone else?”
Daniel Craig is good… but I was expecting someone else.
Brosnan, Pierce Brosnan!
Going back to the 8th grade, I’d watch Remington Steel every Tuesday night and think, “Man this guy would be a great James Bond! It took a while but you finally got there!
As glad as I was to see you as Bond I was equaly sad to see you leave. Nobody did it better. Bond voyage Mr.Brosnan.
This is certainly the end of an era, and a time for reflection. As a lifelong Bond fan, it is a time for wistful reminscence as the series attempts to “re-set” itself, for want of a better term. To put it simply, Pierce Brosnan IS James Bond - with a qualification. Pierce Brosnan IS the CINEMATIC James Bond. With Goldfinger, the cinematic and literary Bonds went their separate ways. I find it amusing that Cubby Broccoli’s heirs and some purists fail to recognize that there is room for two separate entities. And there will quite simply never be someone who was always meant, and may have seemingly been predestined, to play Bond on screen. Mr. Brosnan is witty, suave, sophisticated, urbane, cosmopolitan, chic, sartorially splendid, charming - the superlatives are endless. It was kismet that he got the role, and even more timely that he got it after coming so close in the 80s. While his films may not be the best in the series (blame direction, casting and scripting), Mr. Brosnan was always smooth and in control, and is an underrated actor. It may be a long time before Bond’s cinematic suit is so wonderfully filled.
I will miss him for Kyle’s aunt also. He really has the image of James Bond…part Connery, part Moore, and a little Dalton. Not to sure about the other two though.
:)
:)
I shall miss Pierce Brosnan as Bond because he brought an heir of sophistication to the Bond role. I always thought that he was the perfect fit to play Bond and that he could pull off some of the cheesier gimmicks that were used and make them look like it was really possible for it o be true. He was in my honest opinion the best actor that has played Bond and it will be hard to accept somebody else playing the role. No offense to Daniel Craig but to paraphrase what someone once said “you sir, are no Pierce Brosnan.” I salute you for the great films you gave us as Bond and hope I can learn to tolerate someon else in what I truly consider to be YOUR role.
In 1996 Pierce Brosnan starred in his first Bond movie, “Tomorrow Never Dies.” I grew up with Brosnan, and he got me interested in James Bond. I’ll never forget going to the theater and seeing James Bond live out my fantasy in each of his movies. Brosnan was by far the best Bond ever. I was devastated when I heard Pierce Brosnan was retiring the Bond roll. No one will ever replace Brosnan. I hope he will not be forgoten.
I miss Pierce Brosnan because his bond movies were slightly goofy again–not goofy in the jamaican speed boat chase or going to the moon goofy–but goofy in the xenia onatopp crushes men with her thighs goofy. Making Bond more realistic takes away everything appealing about him.
I saw Casino royale a few days ago,and walked into the cinema a worried bond fan. When i came out 2 hours later i was left feeling the same way i did the first time i saw Goldfinger at the age of 6 totally blown away! I believe if Ian fleming saw this film he would pat the producers AND Mr Daniel Craig for making his work a realistic, believable, honest bond film that had all the emotions he tried to build into his books. If you want invisible cars, corney villians, dodgy story lines, and Clean cut Bond’s with not a hair out of place after a fight scene,DONT WATCH THIS FILM! If however you have read Ian Fleming’s books and get what 007 is all about, watch the film and enjoy as i did a Bond that is back to basics, with no fussy gadgets, silly lines and stories that dont go antwhere near the novel!ENJOY!!!!!!!!
What I’ll miss about Pierce Brosnan is that he brought a familiarity to the Bond series. Brosnan displays his sense of being prim and proper with a charm that reminded me a lot of Roger Moore. Another reason is that his films brought a fun, campy feeling that was missing from a lot of spy films but Brosnan could keep Bond respectable and someone still uber-cool that mixed with the cool gadgets made them unique Bond films that definitely rank right under the Connery Films, IMHO. While I’m excited about Craig taking on the mantle because he seems more rugged and Connery-esque, Brosnan’s sophisticated wit and charm will truly leave his own legacy in the Bond history and truly wiped the horrid memory of Timothy Dalton from fan’s minds.
Wow… I was gonna talk about how, if it couldn’t be Sean anymore, it had to be Pierce - Those eyes, that smile, the quiet voice that could be filled with either sex or menace. I was gonna say that no one could fill those shoes. Then I saw Casino Royale. Ladies and gentlemen, Daniel Craig IS Bond. He’s perfect! Of course, I’ll always miss Pierce, not just because he breathed new life into a dying franchise, but because he admirably filled Connery’s shoes and because he was perfectly believeable as our favorite spy. But Craig is just as good, and I believe that after you see Casino Royale, you’ll join me in applauding. Long Live 007!!
“Anonymous Says:

I grew up with Moore as bond and found it difficult to accept any of the new Bonds…..”
Uh, that was meeeeeee! Guess I was trying to play a secret service man and hide my name from the public.
That said, I went to check out Casino Royale on Friday. I was one of the people who wanted anyone but Daniel Craig for the role. I was prompted to be a tad more open-minded by the SS cast of bloggers- many cited past Craig movies which frankly, I never realized he’d racked up such a stash. I managed to see some of his work and bloody hell, he wasn’t half bad…very good actually.
He did it! He pulled it off..yes he’s a different Bond and as THIS Bond, he owns THAT. I laughed, I cried, it was comedy , drama, love story , action..he knocked me on me arse! Glad I saw it;reserve judgement until you do. The credits at the end included the “James Bond will be back” line- I hope he comes back. I’ll be the first one in line at the next Bond flick starring Daniel Craig. Daniel: My sincerest apologies. EON: Don’t make me wait too long and finally SS: When’s my Daniel Craig as James Bond 12″ figure coming??? eh?
Yup..loved Pierce Brosnan as Bond, classy, sophisticated and just plain yummy. All the pro-Brosnan writers said it all- he owned the role when he had it and I was crushed when he was Bond no more. I believe I aired my displeasure to anyone who cared when I heard that he was to be replaced by some blond upstart from Kingdom knows where. I enjoy Pierce Brosnan the actor, period. So, I still get to revel in his post-Bond projects, continued success to Pierce- Martinis all around.
After i heard that pierce brosnan wasnt going to be Bond any more i was shocked. he has been Bond for four bond movies and all of them were very good. i think pierce is the second most popular guy to play bond, the first being connery.Ever since Goldeneye he has been a hit. He is that type of guy who is always kicking some butt. Hopefully Brosnan will come back like Connery did since Lazenby couldnt step into “Bond’s shoes.”
I’ll miss pierce because he was the only bond to get his butt kicked by mrs doubtfire! cheers mate!
I loved Bronson in this role. He was smooth, tough, and great with the ladies. I have all his Bond DVDs and will miss him.
My aunt will miss him most. When I was a child she would have me watch Remington Steele with her. She said one day he would be James Bond. Then Dalton took over and I felt bad for her, but she kept saying he would be someday. She was so enamoured by him because he reminded her of my uncle when he was young. He passed on a few years ago and she’s in her seventies now. Doing this entry really makes me think how short a time-ago that was. I still think of her (and my uncle) whenever I see Brosnan in anything. If I won an item it would definetly go to her for the holidays.
I just watched “Casino Royale” and all I can say is…Pierce who? This is the most gritty, reaistic Bond film in over 37 years! This guy will never put his name to crap like “Moonraker”. Long live Craig!(second only to Sir Sean).
I personally will miss Pierce Brosnan as Bond because a few years ago in my hometown of Hawaii, I went out to dinner for my mother’s birthday at a really upscale restaurant called John Dominis. This place is one of the top seafood restaurants in Hawaii and is known to be a hot spot for tourists who want to live extravagantly or the occasional celebrity. Well I went to the Men’s room to take a leak and while I was doing my thing, Pierce Brosnan himself comes in and stands in the urinal next to me and does his thing as well. I didn’t know whether or not to say something but of course I didn’t want to seem like I was a little “too” interested in what he was doing at the time. So I left it at that and went back to my table and told my family all about it. Now I can brag that I took a leak next to Bond….James Bond himself in the restroom. You’ll be missed but never forgotten!

“Mr. Best Bond Man Eeeeeeeverr!!!”
Brosnan was the consummate Bond (well, after Connery), he was a lady killer, he was suave, and he was in good enough physical shape to pull off the stunts. Look at the fights with Moore in Moonraker, and you will see the most feeble fisticuffs that the series had ever had. It’s too bad that Brosnan couldn’t take on the mantle of Bond back in the Remmington Steele days, since he could have left the role with a much larger legacy and possibly could have eclipsed Connery.
Sometimes an actor comes along who was born to play a role. Pierce Brosnan was that man and 007 was that role. Having missed out on ‘The Living Daylights’ due to a contract callback on Remington Steel he took the disappointment in stride and bided his time to the role came to him. He would later go on to say that at that time he would have been too young to play the role correctly. That’s what makes Brosnan not only a great actor but a class act. From the first female M and classic settings of Goldeneye to the invisible cars and dodgy CGI of Die Another Day he made sure that he added just enough of himself to the character that you wouldn’t soon forget him in the role. He was, and always will be, one of Ian Fleming’s true gentleman spys.
In my opinion Brosnan was the last and the best Bond to date. He was the most convincing one as well. He pulled off the role that allowed him to play the killer and suave ladies man. Not to mention he is a great actor. Lets face it he has the hair , the looks , the accent, the height and the acting ability. James Bond is not only a role or a character he is an icon. Brosnan embodied the character and will always be THE Bond.
Brosnan,Pierce Brosnan, even that works. As fellow Irishmen we were proud that he displayed most of our natural talents. He was Debonair,Swauve,Charming, always got the job done and most importantly the women loved him. We will miss Pierce representing Ireland as one of the best characters ever put on film.Pierce was born to play this role and it will be hard to fill his shoes. From all in Ireland, you did us proud and we hope to see you visit home again soon.
Slan Leat Pierce(Goodbye in Irish)and best wishes. Now bring on Craig!!!!
When Brosnan finally became Bond in 1995, there was a feeling of poetic justice in the air. Pierce had lost out on the role earlier due to the “Remington Steele” contract but the extra years had produced a more experienced and mature actor. Pierce Brosnan blew the dust and cobwebs off the Bond franchise and rejuvenated it in the most dynamic and exciting way, introducing James Bond to a new generation of movie-goers. For me, Brosnan was Bond. His appearance, manner, presence…he encapsulated the soul of Fleming’s hero perfectly. Suave and sophisticated, tough and uncompromising, witty and charming - Brosnan was a hybrid of all the things that have made Bond so popular since his first appearance on the silver screen. Pierce Brosnan was a sheer pleasure to watch, comfortable with both action sequences and humourous one-liners. From the explosive opening of “GoldenEye” to the high-altitude finale of “Die Another Day”, Brosnan didn’t put a foot wrong. Nobody does it better than Brosnan.
To me Pierce Brosnan was the perfect Bond. Not only did he embody the core elements of what Agent 007 was about, but he was also a husband/father who was truly devoted to his family. Even in the midst of personal tragedy he somehow found the inner strength to go on. When Brosnan finally did make it to the screen as Bond most of us already felt an emotional connection to his character. The fact that he was born in Drogheda, County Louth Ireland, and also established roots in England (UK)gave Brosnan a true understanding of Bond’s language and personality. I loved watching old episodes of Remington Steele. Brosnan brought a nobility to the character of James Bond that will never be duplicated. I will sadly miss him as Bond. Beyond the ” Bond ” films Pierce Brosnan has become in my opinion something more. A real role model. In today’s world of political scandals and corporate greed we could definantly us more of them. Pierce you may be gone but never forgotten.
Urm. Toy curmudgeoness here; you know I rarely find something nice to say about a lotta topics (expecially Sideshow’s 12″ female faces), so it probably won’t surprise y’all that the main thing I’ll miss about Pierce Brosnan as Bond was seeing Brosnan actually come close to being able to act.
This patented Nonie-grump was brought to you by Rider’s Dolls and the Future Cranky Crone of the Great Midwest.
Out of all the Bonds Brosnan was the best man for the job. He just had that certain Bond thing going for him. He had the Charm, toughness, class, and defiently the ladies loved him. (#1 Bond Girl Halle Berry) All in all will remain in the heart of Bond Enthusiasts and lovers. He just always seemed that he knew what he was doing. Pierce we will miss you but nobdy could ever replace you.Bond James Bond!
the honest truth is,the nature and history of james bond and thebond franchise, every actor to play the role brings his own unique persona and his own additional touch to the films. It is in this sense that of course a connery film will feel different from a brosnan film.Pierce being the suave, sofisticated icon of female fascination. The eye-catcher:not too cool, not too calm, providing you with an exact character that has all the while only existed as the bond “stereotype”. For this reason,I understand exactly why EON productions chose him for the role in order to revive Bond through time. To bank on the real essence of bond and yet at the same time catapult him into a time…an era where he would seem out of touch. Pierce was thus responsible for creating james bond anew..and re-introducing him to the world. Thus pierce brosnan and james bond at one time…as with all other actors who have graced that famous tux have become synonymous. But it is important not to forget each actor in the role.thats why i’ll never forget pierce or any other bond actor. To Pierce!
Pierce was second only to Sean. I think that pretty much says it all but I’ll elaborate a bit.
Pierce had a certain air about him that made him go from intense to cocky in the blink of an eye. He had fun with all the toys and enjoyed being Bond on screen. You could identify with him as he made a narrow escape or engaged on witty banter.
I know this Pierce’s Bond was missing a true cause to fight for and perhaps that’s what made him less identifiable for some. There was no cold war for him to fight and therefore some of the stories revolved around killer satellites. Still, Mr Brosnan did very well with what he was given. I think this speaks volumes for the actor and what he was able to bring to the role. Gotta love it.
I grew up on Roger Moore but prefer Pierce Brosnan as 007. He will be missed as Bond but his charm, charisma and personality in the role will be hard to be without. Long live Bond!
The first Bond-movie I saw was GoldenEye with my cousin. I think I totally watched this movie around 30-35 times. I think we will all miss Brosnan, but Craig will be 80 % of Brosnan. He was the second best Bond by my opinion.
As a Bond fan since the first time I saw Sean Connery in the role on the big screen, my 9-year-old son has taken over the torch as ultimate Bond fan–but with Pierce Brosnan embodying all that is Bond. While I will miss Pierce for his debonaire portrayal of Bond, I will miss Mr. Brosnan more for the effect his departure will have on my son, as Mr. Brosnan’s Bond is the only true Bond in his eyes. Thank God for DVDs so as he ages he can share Mr. Brosnan’s Bond with his own sons–and for Sideshow Collectibles and the Brosnan Bond figure he has perched on his nightstand.
Are we seing a pattern here?
Well. How do I say how much I need a Pierce Brosnan as James Bond in 200 words or less. Given the fact that I have a limited vocabulary it should not be a problem. Some time ago I won a Michelle Yeoh as Wai Lin from a Freak board give away by Dusty. Since that day Wai Lin has lived a lonely Bond-less life. I haven’t the will power to let go of Wai Lin, or anything Sideshow for that matter. This is perfect time to end the Bond-less life of Wai Lin. Due to my less than stellar bank account I have not had the chance to pick a Pierce Brosnan as James Bond, until now. Please Sideshow for the sake of Wai Lin, bring Bond home. Give Wai Lin what she needs, 12″ wonderful inches of Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. Wai Lin misses Bond more than you can possibly know, and for that reason Sideshow I must have Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. Please Sideshow we miss Bond!
What can you say Brosnan, he is Bond for a lot of people. Nobody had the style and class he brought to the role and He is the Bond of the video game era seeing as how he was in almost every EA game and was in the Classic game Goldeneye. Brosnan will be missed deeply by millions because Nobody did it better then him.
I have a very specific reason for appreciating Pierce Brosnan in the role of “Bond, James Bond”—sure, he characterized Bond with a certain level of sophistication, he was charming and debonair. The real reason I’ll miss him is this: try to imagine Connery, Lazenby, Moore, or Dalton saying the name “Onatopp” the way he did. I rest my case and throw myself at the mercy of the court.
Pierce Brosnan was a good Bond, but was never my favorite, he’s too much of a pretty boy for Bond. Don’t know if people seen the new movie yet, but the new Bond is more human, with more emotion, and with flaws. So I guess the undefeatable image of Bond is departing along with Brosnan, and I think it’s something I will need time to adapt to.
Why? Because we were cheated out of at least two more Brosnan Bond movies. unfortunate as it is, Brosnan’s prime as Bond never happened, because the producers of Remington Steele refused to let him out of his contract, or to even work with him, to allow him the opportunity to pursue the role. Instead, he had to wait until Dalton ran his course.
I miss the Brosnan movies we didnt get to see. His 00- career started late; and ended early. He brings a believeability that has been missing for quite some time. But, at least we can still have the Brosnan Bond, and the entire hall of fame Bond figures.
Bronson was the best Bond after sean connerty, He was cool suave and tough. Bronson made the role his own.
As a child I would sit down to watch Brosnan on TV with my mom. We loved to see him as Remington Steele. I wanted to be him. As I got older my attention went tword action movie. Bond was one of my favorets. I always said that pierce would be the perfect Bond. As an adult when this became true my interest in action movies returned. So much that I now work for Blo…ter Video. I am sad to see Pierce leave however Bond must live to die another day. So with that I say goodby, you will be mist. Mr. Brosnan left very big shoes for Mr. Craig to fill, but I think a few years from now I will be sad to see Mr. Craig steping down from the role to make room for the next actor to fill the shoes. So in closing I would like to say thanks for the wonderfull movies and good luck in whom ever you become from here on out, but you will always be that super spy heroe in my eye as well as my mom’s. Thanks
I still remember the first time I saw Pierce Brosnan, on Remington Steele. I grew to love that show, and many times said to myself, “he’d make a great Bond!” When he was considered for Bond #4, I was ecstatic! I was so disappointed when the Steele producers wouldn’t let him do it. But he eventually got the chance, and I was absolutely wowed with Goldeneye! He helped bring excitement back to the franchise (which Dalton had killed with his 2 terrible movies). Although I’m sad to see Brosnan go, he had a great run! His films were very high-paced and entertaining, and he was an excellent Bond! Pierce, I salute you!!!
Sean Connery set the standard for being James Bond, but Pierce Brosnan perfected it. Pierce is Bond.
Started watching Bond in the late seventies when my Dad took me to my first Bond Movie “Moonraker”, I was hooked from there on out. Being only ten years of age I had no idea of Sean Connery or the earlier Bonds, but as I got older I became a Bond Afficinado, with Bond toys, books, movie posters, etc… After 20 movies, 4 different Bonds and a new one coming, I don’t think Bond will ever be out of the public eye.
Pierce did a fine job as Bond, I think with his first Goldeneye being the best of the four, here’s to hoping Daniel Craig can keep the Legacy alive!
I’ll miss the delicious irony of Pierce Brosnan, Irishman, portraying James Bond, fictional icon and defender of the British Empire…
I will miss Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. He combined the seriosness of Connery and the lightness of Moore. By adding his own to the character. He did great in the dramatic scenes and action scenes. He was a great Bond and will be missed.
Pierce Brosnan will be missed because he managed to balance the cold blooded killer of Ian Fleming’s books with the suave, sophisticated Bond of the movies. He fought for more depth in the Bond character and in the movies than previous Bonds - more of a psychological edge. While still maintaining the tongue-in-cheek humour. From his witty exchanges with Q to his tense fighting with diabolical villains, he was the great all-rounder of the Bond movies.
As a Bond fan since the first time I saw Sean Connery in the role on the big
screen, my 9-year-old son has taken over the torch as ultimate Bond fan–but

Brosnan was the Bond I grew up with so he will always have a special places as Bond to me. Goldeneye was my favoirte. Gotta love Sean Bean as 006 gone bad. I think the N64 game was also a reason I love this film. Brosnan was one of the smoothest Bonds in my opinon and his one liners were not nearly as cheesey as Moore’s. Brosnan at least deserved a better way of getting dumped than he did. BTW I think from the reboot with Craig on, when it comes time to change actors again, the current actor playing Bond (Craig) should die at the end of the last film. This would make “James Bond” a title like M and Q and not the guys real name. Afterall, how could he have been in his 40s in the 60s and still be about the same age? This would make the most sense to me.
I grew up with Moore as bond and found it difficult to accept any of the new Bonds. I am even having a difficult time accepting this “Blond Bond” but will give him a try. When I heard Brosnan was to be Bond I actually thought “huh he might actually work”, and he did quite well. I was disappointed to hear he did not want to play any more Bond roles as I worried Bond might be heading for another dead end. I am glad he took part in some films breathing life back into 007.
Pierce Brosnan is not my favorite James Bond. Having said that, he is this generation’s 007 and from 1995 through 2005 no one could have done it better. Love Dalton or hate him,it was clear the public did not want him as their Bond. The franchise was basically DEAD before 1995’s Goldeneye and in all honesty you have Brosnan to thank for its resurrection. If I’m not mistaken Brosnan’s were the most successful in Bond’s history. Brosnan’s portrayal of Bond was somewhere in between Connery and Moore and much more palatable to audience’s taste than Dalton. Smooth , suave , charming and deadly, is that not Bond? So everybody jump aboard the Craig bandwagon, do not forget Bond no. 5, he will be missed.
The greatest impact on Bond that thing Pierce had was something I never expected and that is that after years of Bond getting older and slowly falling out of peoples mindset he introduced Bond to a generation of young people who had not been interested in Bond before. He made us excited about wanting to be Bond. I didn’t think an over 40 year old British actor could reach that generation.
Only Connery had been able to do that. I personally don’t believe that Roger Moore truly amazed the youth of his generation with any of his films except for maybe The Spy Who Loved me.
Pierce did it straight out of the gate with Goldeneye and his audience and the Bond audience continued to grow with him.And that audience grew despite bad scripts, and questionable casting (Denise Richards, Teri Hatcher, Robert Carlyle).
To a majority of the world, Bond and Brosnan encompass positive qualities that the world has of Englishmen. A certain class, charm, intelligence and sophistication. He left Bond with more fans than when he walked into the role and he’s the first to leave it with fans wanting another Bond film from him.
I will miss Brosnan. He was my favorite Bond. He made the role more realistic, while still preforming my fantasy. He also managed to have 2 or 3 women in one movie! I just hope Brosnan will not be forgoten…
I will miss Brosnan as Bond because his leaving marks the end of the classic Bond era. The Bond who fought the cold war. Now we will have a Bond who has been re-loaded and fights for… err what? Our oil interests in the middle east? But I digress. At any rate Brosnan captured the suaveness of Bond whilst being tough. He also managed to capture the humanity of the Bond character in the Ian Fleming novels. So here’s to the last great Bond of of the “classic” era.
Well what can I say. Pierce Brosnan was born to be James Bond. I first saw him in Remington Steele and from that moment knew he would be the perfect James Bond. When he was not able to get out of his contract for Remington Steele his chances to play James Bond appeared to be over but then along came Goldeneye in 1995. Pierce embodiede the character of James Bond - he was suave, charasmatic, had the looks and was always able to deliver the lines (who can forget when he first spoke the words “Bond, James Bond”). In my opinion he resurrected the James Bond francise and given the opportunity to play the role one more time would have gone out on a high note.Although Daniel Craig may bring a new grittier, killer edge to the role without Pierce Brosnan there would be no James Bond for today.
Though I enjoyed the first two Brosnan films,I don’t think I’ll really miss him.His work in “The Matador” was better than anything he’s done in the Bond films.I’m really looking forward to Daniel Craig’s take on Bond. He’s a total badass who can take the character to a new level.I miss the hardness of the Connery and Dalton Bonds and am glad the series wont be going back to wimpy Roger Moore kiddie comedies of the past.By the way, when are we getting a Craig figure?
Brosnan was the perfect amalgam of the best of the Bonds that came before him. The wit and sly humor of Moore, the humanity of Dalton, the adventure and romance of Lazenby and the ruthless efficiency of Connery. While the films he was in may not have been the best of the Bonds, although they certainly tried, he was the epitome of Bond, the image we all had in our head of what the character was brought to life. And he just got better every time. Brosnan will be missed and, in time, I think he’ll be seen as the definitive Bond, no slight to Mr. Connery. He just brought it all together and made it work.
I will miss all the whiny comparissons to remmington steel, i really think sideshow should make this character as well just for all those drool laiden people who really thought he would make a good bond. Long live daniel craig, he may be the best since connery.
Excellent! Just waiting now for the David Niven, Peter Sellers, and Woody Allen Bond figures!
I’ll miss Bronsan as Bond because he had a certain charisma to him that I think was missing after Connery left. I don’t think he was the reason that the last couple movies have not great (I think it was because of the scripts). So in my opinion I would have let him stay as Bond however I am looking forward to the new movies and reports seem to be good.
Brosnan has real class. I will miss him as Bond and was sorry to see him go. Ever since his dapper days as Remington Steele I a thought Brosnan would be a great Bond–much better than Dalton and a good mix between Moore and Connery. Farewell Pierce, it was a nice run 007.
I miss Pierce Brosnan because he was just about as pretty as most of the Bond girls. He would be very popular in prison, that’s for sure!!! To quote the artard from Deliverance, ” He sure got a pretty mouth!” hehe. Actually I won’t miss him whatsoever. Bond has really been a dud for many years. Looking forward to the new Bond. He actually looks like a Bad MF and from what I’ve seen in the previews…he is.
What made Brosnan’s Bond such a special thing for me was how it was such a long time in coming. I remeber being a fan of Remington Steele and thinking what a good Bond he’d be, and then when the series was struggling to get renewed and he actually won the role, only to lose it because Steele actually got renewed (oddly enough due to his winning the Bond role) was heart breaking (but a good thing for Dalton), so for Pierce to actually get it years later was great satisfaction for me. My only regret is Pierce never getting to do the kind of Bond he had been fighting to do before he left.
Brosnan will be missed for more than his amazing good looks and ability to trow through ridiculous dialog. He’ll be missed for more than the fact that his image alone brought Bond to this generation. He’ll be missed for more than his luck in co-staring with Halle Berry. Yes, He will be missed. But most of all, we will miss him because without him Bond would have died years ago.
My wife and I saw CR at a free screening last night in Franklin, TN. Daniel Craig is the best James Bond since Sean Connery. I will not miss anything about Pierce Brosnan. Judging from the reaction of the crowd, neither will the general public.
See “Casino Royale” at your earliest opportunity!!This is the best Bond i ve seen in the cinema and i ve watched every one since ” man with the golden gun” at the age of eight.Daniel Craig owns this role ,just fantastic. All the fat has been trimmed from Bond and it looks so much better for it Sideshow get your finger out with these figures, loads still to do despite your having the licence 5 years now.If you re bored with it please pass it on to your good freinds at “Hot Toys” whose wares excite me more and more and whose muscular physique would suit a Craig figure very well indeed!
Why will I miss Pierce? What did he bring to the films? Why was he a perfect casting choice? In one word: Suave.
I am really looking forward to seeing the new Bond Movie and I think Daniel Craig will make a great new Bond and a superb sideshow figure. Can’t wait to add it to my collection. Any news on any new figures yet?? Having said that I am sure a lot of people would like to see possibly a Miss moneypenny, M etc. and some more villains like Blofeld (Donald Pleasance with the white cat), Grace Jones etc. Really pleased the new James Bond film is out and Daniel Craig will become another favourite Bond. Long may it reign!!!!!
I became a James Bond fan watch Roger Moore’s debut in Live And Let Die. It is still one of my favorite Bond films. I had seen Sean Connery in Thunderball and You Only Live Twice but was too young at the time to appreciate anything but the action. Roger brought me into the fold as a fan. From that time on I was on the look out for any Bond films being shown in the theaters either first run or return engagements. I am grateful for Pierce bringing the series into the 90’s with a bunch of new fans and for them; he will most likely be their favorite Bond. I have greatly enjoyed his movies and while I prefer the more serious, down to earth Bond films, I do get into the mood for the fantastic at times. My favorite Bond to date is Dalton, followed by Connery, Lazenby, Brosnan and Moore. They all have had their good films. I will miss Pierce’s great looks, good quips, and unequaled charm. Here’s to you Mr. Brosnan always shaken, never stirred. Now let’s get out and see Casino Royale!
I am a long time fan of the fictional character called James Bond created by Ian Fleming. All 5 actors who have portrayed the character have each contributed greatly to making the legend live on, each carrying the legend on with their own interpretation & individual style and I greatly enjoy watching all of the movies over & over again. Pierce was great as Bond & was sorry to see him go, but then again Timothy greatly contributed to a more realistic & believable action hero & I was sorry to see him go–but then again Roger was great at adding humour, great action scenes with a touch of menace to keep the balance & George played in one the best stories in the series, Sean got it all going being the original Bond we all primarily relate to in the early years. I greatly look forward to seeing Daniel Craig in action & after watching as many of his movies I could get my hands on I believe he will likely be our favourite spy for many years to come. I have about 85% of the James Bond sideshow figurines proudly on display & anxiously await the release of a Daniel Craig figurine.
Pierce Brosnan. Wow, what a perfect choice he was to play James Bond! I was familiar with his role on the Remington Steele as the mysterious British chap. I knew he was first approached while in that role to be Bond, but couldn’t until that show was over. Needless to say I was thrilled to hear that he was to become Bond in Goldeneye. I really enjoyed him in the role. He brought sophistication, class, humor and charm to name a few things to the role. Aside from Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan is one of my top two favorite actors to portray Bond. I was both shocked and saddened to hear that he’s no longer Bond. He fit the role so perfectly. I will always be a fan of the Bond movies he made, and continue to collect the figures your fine company has made of him in the role. Just as Christopher Reeve WAS Superman when he played the role, so did Pierce Brosnan make Bond his own. I truly believed Pierce Brosnan WAS James Bond from the very first time he said “Bond, James Bond”. I will miss him not being Bond anymore.
In 1995, Pierce Brosnan donned the traditional 007 tuxedo and wore it like he was born to play the role of suave superspy Bond, James Bond after having “auditioned” for the role during his tenure on Remington Steele during the 1980’s. Right from the start, audiences world-wide embraced him in the role. He brought his classy mixture of 007 wit and charismatic charm as well as a bold and daring ability to maintain his cool composure under excruciating circumstances. Pierce had the instinctual ability to charm the ladies with a vodka martini (shaken, not stirred)in one hand while holding his own with a Walther PPK in the other on Her Majesty’s Secret Service. At the the top of his game, Brosnan’s Licence to Kill was unexpectedly revoked and handed over to unlikely Bond candidate Daniel Craig. Even though Pierce still had a few good films left in him before resigning from the part, he will be be sorely missed and leaves behind not just big shoes to fill, but a tux that fit him like a second skin. In my book, Pierce will always be known as Bond, James Bond.
Brosan, what a man, embodied bond in my eyes. From the moment I saw Goldeneye i was hooked. He was sauve, and witty, and when I heard him say Bond, James bond i believed in the character, In my eyes bond was real, He was human, he could be hurt, but he still remained sophisticated all throughout. Bond was a great way to build a relationship with my father, the kind i hadnt had before. We agreed on Brosan as being the best, and we still watch the movies the classics through Die Another Day. I dont think I would be a Bond fan today if it wasnt for him, and that is what Connery did for the original audience. His performance was moving to say the least, and even though i will remain a bond fan, part of me will always know Pierce as being the one true Bond. Brosan you our Bond and you always will be, no matter how many more there are. Im forever shaken, not stirred.
Cool, but where’s the Craig figure??? I was hoping to see it announced…
