I got my Leia the other day and it’s awesome! I was also surprised it was shipped in a much bigger box, another surprise…I recieved a free SSC 2008 calendar! That’s why it was shipped in such a big box.
Yes, I saw that press release regarding the “cooperation between Sideshow and Hasbro”. However the sales for the sixth scale figures had been slipping considerably, and even now you can find the Hasbro stuff in Bargain bins. While Hasbro may still technically have the license to produce 12 inch fare, it’s not likely to happen, nor is it likely that their sixth scale line would have continued whether Sideshow took over that format or not. So maybe they didn’t “lose” the rights to make 1/6 scale stuff, but they aren’t using the license, so it’s really a moot point isn’t it? So aside from calling me out on a technicality what’s your point? Hasbro’s 12 inch stuff sucked, and they’re sticking to what they’re good at now. Sideshow basically took over a defunct line of figures and has restored them to the level of detail and quality we’ve been wanting all along. Whether they took the license or were given it is really immaterial.
I think the preview picture of Leia was great! The porduction blog pictures are another story. The face is good but the head makes her look like a tranny. She’s also waiting for quite a huge flood!! Lengthen that dress SS!! P.S. Kevin C. must be talking about a different shawdow trooper by medicom; either that or he really doesn’t own it and is jealous that others do ! This thing even has a leather or vynal jumpsuit under the armor. I own almost evry SS product for Star Wars , and this trooper is right up there as far as quality. Leather holster also; not to mention any pose you can think of!!
Awesome figure. The suckky thing is I will be out of town during pre order time. good news is I left detailed instruction with my co-worker to get this for me. So I have one thing to say. Help Me Gabby you are my only hope!! I cant wait to see Leia in all her Cinnabun glorry. You guys surpassed expectations Yet again thanks SSC Now please……….Bring on 12 in ROTJ Vader
“HASBRO lost the license”…. I think you need to get your facts straight. HASBRO hasn’t lost any license, I think; it has a deal with STAR WARS through 2013 (if I’m not mistaken). If you check Sideshow’s original press release, I believe they said they had entered into an agreement WITH HASBRO to do the 12″ STAR WARS figures. If you’ll notice, HASBRO doesn’t make ANY 12″ figures anymore. Has anyone seen any new GI JOEs at their local Toys’R'Us lately?
Loks kinda goofy to me? Witch is good since I own the PF-version of Leia ANH…MUUUAAAHH-HAAA!
I do have to say that Sideshow has yet to complete one group of characters from any of the Star Wars films. Luke doesn’t have anyone to do battle with and nor does Obi-Wan. I guess, technically he could battle Anakin Sith apprentice, but I’d rather see the real Darth Vader. A lot of main characters still missing. I only hope that with the introduction of Princess Leia that we will see all of the main characters from ANH.
I just received the StarWarsShop.com exclusive Shadow Trooper from Medicom and let me say, what a piece of junk. I think it cost about ten cents more to make than any Hasbro 12” figure ever made. I don’t know why Sideshow has partnered with them. Yes, over priced for the quality of workmanship put into this figure. I’m so glad I didn’t order the Medicom Clonetrooper or anything from them. Sideshow makes a better 1/6 scale figure, and my only complaint with them, is that they aren’t releasing their 1/6 scale figures fast enough. Poor Plo Koon where is he? Padme is she forever lost? I’ll be at C IV and I hope that Sideshow could let some of us fans in on the 411 for the future characters in development. Hey, Sideshow I won’t say a word, honest. I remember during the first or second Podcast, a discussion about Jawas and smaller body type 1/6 scale figures, what happened?
These figures seem to take a great deal of time for production and with limited quantities. How do you intend on keeping up with the general demand and interest of these figures without sacrificing quality?
A Count Dooku or Boba Fett or even Darth Vader (suited up) would motivate me a lot more than a Leia figure. However, If you start something, finish it. Stay with the various Jedi characters line.
I got to say SS has done it again, I currently own 7 figures and this Leia is going to be my 8th on my collection. I cant wait to preorder it since this has been the most detailed and nice looking leia ever. Resemblence to Carrie Fisher is awsome, even better than the first leia that SS did.

Truly a perfect choice for a figure.
I have to knit-pick about the hands for a moment, which I’ve been looking at all week. (You know, because I’ve checked back every day to look at this page) Are they a glossier finish/different color? Also, hands on past figures haven’t had noticeable seams at the fingers. Perhaps it’s just the close-up aspect of the photo or because this is the proto type, but they don’t seem to have detail Kit, Mace, or even Luke have had.
If anyone is interested. I just saw a sneek peek of the Yavin 4 exclusive Luke Skywalker for Celebration IV. It lives up to the Star Wars legacy. Check it out at the Rebelscum website.
I can’t wait to pre-order this piece. I have the PF of her and love it. Leia in her ANH iconic white is one of my favorite pieces from the entire Star Wars galaxy!
When I first read that SSC was creating Princess Leia 12″ statue, I thought to myself that this would be the defining moment for you guys!
I mean that because her eyes are so very distinct, it would take a MIRACLE to get those eyes perfect.

hasbro lost the license for a reason. Collectors wanted something a little more realistic than mass market kiddie toys. I still think Sideshow needs to step up to the plate when it comes to some of the more difficult figures. You had to know we’d want Vader, Fett, Stormtroopers and the droids before Bib Fortuna or Plo Koon. Asaaj looks great so I’ll be snatching her up, but do some Dark Empire figures and a Mara Jade if you’re gonna go EU. Darkside Luke would own.

I thought I read that Padme wasn’t turning out as well as Sideshow had hoped and that they were taking her back to the drawing board to try to make her as perfect as possible. My impression was that she was still going to be made. Can you clarify this Sideshow?? I’m one of the fans anxiously waiting for Snow Bunny Padme too!!!

Following all the great comments…I’ll be getting this one, amazing compared to the original Hasbro…and btw please do let us know about Snow Bunny Padmee…at least four figures came out since…and Assaj Ventress was in the list, though I far as I followed it was Padmee who won…what’s the point of voting for our fav EU character if you don’t follow the results?

The translation from prototype to production model is a scary one.

I have recently discovered the joy of your site and your collectibles I have managed to get 9 figures so far along with 1 throne. I can’t describe the feeling of seeing that Leia will be available next Friday for PPO (I personally love 10 am PST and enjoy the excitement of knowing that true fans are scambling to get one at the same time).
As far as what I would suggust for upcoming figures I really would love to see ALL the orginal Kenner 12 back in 2007 in the 1/6 Sideshow Collectible format.
The only obscure figure I would pay through the nose for is 1/6 scale Dark Side Luke. When he ripped apart the At-At in Dark Empire, WOW, true power.

Hey, Sideshow, given the universally enthusiastic response you’re getting on Leia, I *really* think it’d be wise of you guys to just offer her as an inclusive edition as you did with Darth Maul. I know what you’re thinking,”these decisions are made months in advance, we just can’t change it, yadda, yadda, yadda”. Obviously, the demand is here. If you do stick with the PPO as planned, better make sure your servers can handle it!
Not a good likeness of Ms. Fisher. And just as bad if not wosre than the Han Solo ESB. The 1/4 scale Han and Leia are much better and look more like the actors, “More lifelike”.

iconic character out as the line was pushing my patience. I can see a Chewie tying in the ANH Leia with Ceremonial Luke and Dejarik set. I know the Chewie can be done but will probably cost more. No problem there if done well enough. Let’s get all the core characters out of the way from each movie then move on to cool obscure and expanded. Visions of Leia stooping over Artoo alreay in hope of getting the deatstar Plans delivered. Wish list follows.

she looks great .. i really want to see sideshow pull a chewie out of the bag ,, i been collecting al lthe 12″ line for years from hasbro putting away the hasbro ones as the sideshow one come out to replace it and the bespin looks great next to my marmit boba fett but really out shines al lof the chewies from hasbro so Chewie is top of my list to see how good there are but leia looks great well done again bring it on
Nice Leia but what happened to the Snow Bunny Padme from the fan choice Sideshow promised last year? Or was that the year before? Either way, what will it take to get a decent 12″ version of Padme Skywalker — Bride of Darth Vader, mother of Luke and Leia. Seems to me, Padme can’t get any respect.
Looks like the eyes have it. I agree with everyone else, please don’t change the eyes they’re fantastic the way they are. You people at SS alway seem to have a finger on the pulse of what collectors want, way to go you deserve all the praise for a great job. “joe” you’re absolutely right this would’ve been sweet to take to SFX to get it signed.
this looks to be a great likeness, to bad she wasn’t out last year when fisher was in canada. I agree with dez that i wish this one came out first, as I ordered the bounty hunter version, but hey, if i like this one more, i can cancel bounty leia and let some other lucky person get my exclusive. I will probably order this one anyway, my cc isn’t maxed yet, close though.
I’m thrilled to see Leia Organa be the first ANH figure to see release! Once again, Bergholtz continues to capture Fisher’s likeness exquisitely! Now for Han, Ben, Vader, and Tarkin…a girl can dream, can’t she?

She looks great. I do have to echo some of the requests for some better consistency when it comes to the release schedule.
Sure “bounty hunter Leia” was cool, but this is the one we were waiting for. I don’t have limitless cash for these and since I’m collecting the LOTR stuff too, I have to prioritize. It would be great if we could get some of the major players released before we start getting the same characters we already have in new outfits, so please lets try to focus on some new stuff. I already have a Luke so Yavin Ceremony Luke doesn’t do much for me if I don’t have an ANH Han or Chewie to accompany him. Please, get us Vader, the Fetts, Mara Jade and Chewie! I want Stormtroopers, and R2, Threepio, and Yoda! The medicom offerings haven’t enticed me because as good as they look the scale is off, so I’m counting on you to make these happen. Same thing goes with the Lord of the Rings line. Who really would rather have Faramir than Gandalf? Save the tertiary characters for later get the Fellowship done first.
Wow, a dead on likeness, which means I finally get to buy my first Sideshow item! I agree about the eyes, please don’t make the mistake another high end collectible company -(cough)-GG-(cough)- recently made by deviating from the solicitation image and pulling a switcheroo with the final delivered product.

Just one thought: could we have the eyes just looking straight ahead? It is a bit limiting with the eyes painted looking sideways…

A New Hope indeed. Awesome news, I am so glad to see the beautiful Leia in a 12 inch figure. Hopefully we will get a slave Leia sometime too, but for now I will be happy to ogle her in that sweet looking white gown. PPO huh, well, hopefully I can get out of work for a few hours to get my claim in. I’m not about to mention the “L” word though, cause we seen the havoc that insued following that little experiment. Anyway, I can’t wait to see more pics of this little beauty, she is a looker for sure. Congrats on what I am sure will be another hit Sideshow, rock on!

Wow a rally hard outfit to do there huh guys? A white gown, and since you already did this figure once last year as a PF it shouldn’t be to hard to just re-do it. Listen to your fans, Vader, Stormtrooper. Give the people who buy your stuff what tehy want or you will find yourself out of work. It will take time any license like this gives you ten years minimum, but you need to step up and do what your fans want, not what is cheap to produce.

This one looks fantastic! Finally Sideshow is doing some main ANH characters in honor of the 30th anniversary year. I’m guessing her exclusive accessory will either be the Imperial stormtrooper blaster (in addition to her sporting blaster as a standard accessory) or better yet include the Death Star Interrogation Droid. Odd choice about releasing Yavin Ceremony Luke before the more iconic Tatooine Luke, though. Hopefully we’re eventually getting Tatooine Luke and ANH Han Solo to go with Leia this year though. It just wouldn’t complete without the entire trio of characters. And although ANH Leia is high on my wishlist, I still want to get Slave Leia too, both in the 1:6 scale and Premium Format. Make it happen, Sideshow. You know Slave Leia would sell big time.

Not being a collector of the PF line myself, I am extatic that I’ll finally have the one true and classic version of Leia!

All Nerd Review, they actually said they wouldn’t do them too close together. But they broke that rule with Maul.

Wonderful prototype…now what are the odds the production figure will be looking dead ahead, doll-like, instead of off to the side? Keep it like this and you’ve got a winner. Change it and I have another repaint.
I don’t normally collect the Star Wars line, but I will be getting this one. I would have loved a Bespin Leia to go with my Han, but this is the classic Leia.
my word………the preview looks absolutely fantastic. very nice likeness & probably will get better with production as well. heres hoping anyway. good job sideshow. i also hope the yakin luke is a new sculpt & without monkey arms.

Now, I’m not complaining, but I recall that Sideshow very specifically said that they wouldn’t be doing any 12″ stuff of costumes / appearances already presented in PF format. This gives me hope for a 12″ Vader, finally! Either way, this is all mine.

Excellent! Although I love most of your choices so far for this line, the selections have been getting a little obscure. It is nice to see another mainstream character in trademark clothing. This release revitalizes my interest in the line. Can we get her soon please?
