Thank you for this! Lorne Peterson is great. CGI is wrong because it’s too clean. The human hand is capable of making things that are perfect in their imperfection and that’s what’s called “art”. There is something sterille about CG. I instantly fall in to the world of Star Wars when watchin the original trilogy and at no point am I able to suspend my disbelief when trying to watch the prequels. Everyone knows this to be true, except for the diehards and George Lucas.
I really wanted to go to C4 but from what I heard on podcasts most of the time spent there consisted of standing in lines to buy stuff and occasionally be greeted by lackluster guests. I’ve met Peter Mayhew and Jeremy Bulloch by accident multiple times. If I ran a Star Wars convention the merchandise portion would be played down and we would do things like reshoot the movies scene for scene, never ending trivia contests, and deep sociological and philosophical panel discussions about what Star Wars did to America and film and trying to understand whether it’s ultimately had a good or bad effect on the film industry.
