Padme Amidala - Ilum 12-inch Figure
Pre-Orders begin during Comic-Con 2007. Edition size will be announced post Comic-Con 2007.
  1. Mark says:

This figure looks great! I really hope that I’m fortunate to get my hands on one!

  2. Dave says:

This toy looks horrible. Its a huge drop in quality from the previous entries and beckons back to Hasbros sad days of reusing barbie dolls to make its female characters.

  3. Nicholas Gay-Zor (is my Star Wars handle) says:

This doll looks amazing and I will def buy it because it’s got a great costume and I love white clothing. Still, there is something lacking in the likeness. To get a recognizable likeness in portraiture they say that you usually just need to get the shape of the face right and put the features in the right location and people will see it as accurate. It might have something to do with the shape of the face being hidden by the hood. The guy that said it looked like Angelina Jolie isn’t totally off. I’m guessing that her lips are supposed to be chapped with the cold but I think that bit of realism is unneeded because it also detracts from the doll looking like Natalie Portman, whose lips are not quite so engorged looking.

  4. Reaper says:

Great job. Although she looks a touch constipated (or maybe she just went and that explains the “package” in the crotch ;P ), this is still a great representation of the character. Those of you who think she looks like Angelina Jolie need to google her and take a really good look. You DON’T know what the heck you’re talking about!

  5. Wilson says:

    That’s a huge noggin! And what’s up with with her… um… crotch?

  6. Mike C. says:

I think everyone needs to relax. Sideshow puts out the best 12 inch figures on the market and they aren’t going to release a figure that doesn’t meet their high quality standards. I’ve already pre-ordered mine and I know it’s going to be great. Remember this is just the prototype that they didn’t even have to show us. Keep up the great work SSC.

  7. stonedchewy says:

what a mix! now which episode was this one coming from again? hmmm…quite a trip.

  8. kaiseri12 says:

Overall Sideshow has done an excellent job with the “star Wars” line. If it were not for them I would not be back into collecting…they single handedly have renewed my interest in collecting star wars. I will add though, that seeing this figure here and pics on an alternate website, the figure needs work. The belt and blaster holster need alot of effort in re-design (add detail), and The face to me needs some minor resculpting. This is where I feel when doing transitional characters from the cartoons some added details should come from the design teams . Cartoon versions of the characters we know from the movies are toned down in detail for their cartoon counterparts, reverse the process sideshow. Take direction from the concept artwork or the original designers to get some ideas. This is the problem I had with ventress. Great you offered the two different cartoon/comic headed versions, but for me this doll sticks out like a sore thumb from the rest of the movie line. What about a head from Ian McCaig’s original design to give more depth to the facial sculpt.
Continue the great work…Bespin luke looks awesome.

  9. john says:

To say it doesn’t look like her “at all” just proves you need to wear glasses. It’s a good likeness, not perfect, but it’s only an inch tall. What I want to see is a good paint job, something we don’t see very often from Sideshow in 1/6th scale.

  10. lebron james says:

guys lets cut sideshow a break. If you feel the sculpt is off, just pick up any hasbro padme figure and appreciate thier padme face sculpts which look like plastic vomit.

  11. lebron james says:

Gotta be honest and give it up for sideshow. When they came out with BUBO last year, i just quit the line entirely with exasperation. But with this, plus luke bespin, and leia a new hope, looks like sideshow is finally getting the message. You guys rock!!! Grievous please!!

  12. JOE G. says:

The likeness is off it doesn’t look like Natalie Portman at all. The outfit looks cheesy. What’s under her hood? Is it sculpted hair or is she bald like in V for Vendetta? I know it’s from the animated series but she was in this costume for about 30 seconds of a 15 minute episode. Why not Padme in a costume from the movies and get a better head sculpt too? SS has a chance to put out some awesome figures and they are fumbling the ball.
I would rather see some figures like Mara Jade or Grand Admiral Thrawn, figures you haven’t seen in another line before in this size. Come on SS get on the ball!

  13. StarWarsCJ says:

I was hoping for a more animated look. The face looks creep to me. The outfit is good.

  14. OB/Gyn Kenobi says:

Thank you Admin……you’re my only hope.
Seriously, thx for the heads up. Snagged one!!

  15. Administrator says:

Pre-Order right now! :) It just opened up to the publc online

    http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?item=2140

    Enjoy!

  16. Jason says:

If I recall the Jabba pre-order started during SDCC last year. However I wasn’t paying attention then. For us non-attendees, will we be able to pre-order this today too or will we have to wait?

  17. OB/Gyn Kenobi says:

Um…Ok, So, I haven’t seen anything about us poor saps who won’t be attending. Is there a “leftover” Friday order for us non-attendees, or *gasp* will I be forced to Ebay this SOB? Have all the SS SW 12″ figs so far…why stop now.

  18. Bren says:

The Ventress head is a realistic interpretation of the cartoon-style head, not a straight cartoon head release. Both of her heads look great! I think this sculpt is really good (okay, her lips are pretty big, though). She isn’t quite what I was expecting, but overall, I think she’s good considering the cartoony costume and all.

  19. Bren says:

So when does she go up for preorder? I haven’t found this information anywhere yet.

  20. Anonymous says:

    Looks awesome!

  21. astro666 says:

    Thanks for the info Draven.

  22. HAPPYBOY says:

Well I think she looks good myself. Not one I will be getting, right now anyway. I have seen too many other great pieces I must concentrate on first, but still I think she is done quite nicely. I know she was probably a tricky little gal to convert this way, but I think you pulled it off well. I may have to wait a bit to acquire her, but in time I am sure she will grace the HAPPY display.

  23. DMSL says:

Doesn’t look like Natalie Portman at all, so i’ll pass.

  24. Randy says:

i’ve loved your products and own a lot of them, they are truly great

but after seeing her at SDCC, absolutely everything about this figure is wrong – please do not embarass yourself by releasing something this awful

  25. mike says:

Wow, It looks great. Why do people always complain. Your products are amazing. Thank you for rejuvenating my interest in collecting.

  26. HitokiriShadow says:

YAY! That really does look like Natalie. Wow. :)

    Great job SS!

  27. Draven says:

Astro: Go to the virtual booth podium 2 on the comic con page.

  28. rich says:

Somebody send sideshow some photos of natalie portman, especially her lips!!!! There’s a million modeling shots of her out there to reference! I really thought after all this wait for her it would be unbelievable, but as some others have said, is this by hasbro, and is it angelina jolie? Pleeeez sideshow, I can wait a little longer, re-tool this!!!

  29. Rob says:

Did Hasbro make this for them?

  30. astro666 says:

Alright, I must be an idiot because I can’t find the #60 view.

  31. Abel says:

    It’s a blaster or a Cook-Lighter?

  32. Skullslpitter says:

A hard transition for sure. I do agree though the lips look a little full. Great job so far.

  33. JuN says:

Erm….is it me only, I definately dont see any likeness of Natalie Portman……Im not convinced…..and the hands looks pretty small for a head so big….

  34. jack says:

sideshow keep up the good work. do what you want to do. don’t follow the norm of medicom. your alsome

  35. sideshowbob says:

    Man, I love you guys.

  36. joe says:

great likeness, this one is tempting thats for sure, ah, bankruptsy seems so tempting this time of year : )

  37. Red 5 says:

I’m cautiously optimistic about this fig. Where is the 360 view?

  38. Ed B says:

Now we’re getting cartoon versions with oversized lips prior to getting a Darth, a Fett, or a Trooper of SOME kind? Sideshow, you have the license of a lifetime. Invest some money and make what more buyers are asking for – ARMORED FIGURES! (Although Old Ben was a good one also.)

  39. Paul – ABC News says:

Found it. Sorry! Can’t wait for a “Fireside” Padme! ;)

  40. Paul – ABC News says:

Looks GREAT! Where can we find the 360 view that Randy mentions?

  41. Campbell Evans says:

I’m excited by it, but the miniature deformed Barbie-hands creep me out.

  42. buj says:

I’m hoping that we get an alternate animated-style sculpt like the one that was offered with the exclusive Assaj Ventresss.

  43. Dan says:

Nice to finally see it, can’t wait to see what else is at SDCC.

  44. DarkKnight2k4 says:

I think it looks good for what it is… A cartoon interpetation.

I am not sure if it captures what made snowbunny Padme special though…

Question I have is, does this go live for online orders as well during SDCC ? Or just attendees ?

  45. Ugg Not says:

Once again with the INTENSE exaggeratedly realistic face!!! You know you had perfect license here to tone that way down considering the CARTOON source. I’m pretty sure if Padme appeared like that in the cartoon children would have nightmares… and I’ll say it:

    ANGELINA JOLIE!!!!

  46. Keith NH says:

Please SIDESHOW before I die, Please Make A DARTH VADER with A FULL Reveal Helmet, I’m not getting any younger!!!!

  47. darren douglas says:

Awesome! Worth the wait (and the infuriatingly long wait from now until it’s finally released!)
Good to see the hood’s not sculpted in so we can have an unfettered head sculpt too.
All this and a bespin Luke too, very cool.

  48. Seretur says:

    This looks beautiful.

  49. Mike Buckley says:

Great facial sculpt from what I can see. Really looks like Natalie Portman to me! I’ll pre-order her for sure!

  50. Randy says:

after seeing the 360 view, this figure just does not look right
i realize it’s difficult to make a cartoon image into a realistic looking character, but the overall feel of clone wars padme has been completely lost in the transition
feel free to scrap the figure and do the next-biggest vote getter from the poll

  51. astro666 says:

Very nicely done SS, thank you.

  52. andre says:

So, is she supposed to be 1/6th scale scale, while her lips are 1/4 scale? PF Padme lips? :(

  53. xequae says:

Awesome!! Can’t wait to see more pics.

  54. sithlord151 says:

Bout time!! Please tell us the preorder is soon, now would be a good time.

  55. barryo says:

wow………..that is natile portman 4 sure…….here’s hopin between proto & production it doesnt go askew. awesome.

  56. darthGeek says:

Awesome! Been waiting a long time for this one.

  57. DarthNeil says:

Excellent—- Now is there going to be an exclusive version or is the one being put up for pre-order during the con the only one? When specifically will it go up for pre-order?
