  1. Zabrak Nut says:

This page may be ancient now, but SW fans have nothing to complain about – LOTR’s fans are getting nothing, and will be lucky if they get a Ringwraith. That’s ONE villain, and SW fans are getting characters in 1/6 scale that appeared for less than 30 seconds on-screen. Appreciate what you’re getting…

  2. Myrick says:

this fig is off the chain, it is mine!

  3. JOKERMAN says:

OH,SIDESHOW…WHY DO YOU DO THAT TO US LOYAL FANS????!!!WHERE THE ¨%$¨%#$¨%$ IS YOUR OWN 1:6 SCALE (FOR REAL,NOT THE TINY MEDICOM SCALE)DARTH VADER????AND THE FETTS??????AND THE TROOPERS???? FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!

  4. Vice says:

Get the medicom one if you want the best one^

  5. Darth Mauler says:

The detail on the face is amazing !!!! It’s like looking in the mirror!! (lol)

  6. lebron james says:

some advice guys? I cant decide which one to get, sideshows or this one.Im a newbie to the 1:6th scale. Which is more definitive? One problem i have with sideshow is the toooo big head. Is that the deal breaker?

  7. Joda says:

Already sold my SSC Maul and will be adding this one.Plain and simple-its a better fig and the price doesnt really bother me cause I know Im getting the best 1/6th they make.I know scale is off but this can be displayed by itself and look great. The look is incredible and clothes cant be touched.Quit whining people about whats coming out, they cant make everyone happy. Be happy we have so much to choose from!!! I want Vader too but it will come.I collect both Medi and SSC and both serve there purpose IMO

  8. Ed B says:

Just wanted to say that I agree completely with VADA-LUVA above about Sideshow needing to step it up and get a 12″ Vader made. And a Fett, and ANY Trooper, etc.

(I also agree with V-L because he/she agreed with my earlier comments/post.)

  9. shockwave says:

I already purchased SSC Maul. And I am happy w/their version. Sorry Medicom. Thanks but no thanks.

  10. Mo says:

The SS MAulfans sound like haters. But I don’t blame them, if I had the SS MAul(Great figure BTW), I’d say anything to convince myself that I don’t need this one. C’mon though, admit it, this figure looks Awesome. Share the love SS Fans.

  11. ks says:

I should have been more clear. What I meant was that recent medicom figures are taller than older medicom figures.

  12. Luanne says:

sure he small, who cares I can carry him in my purse when food shopping ha!

  13. Zabrak Nut says:

ONE other thing about Maul here… I honestly wished that we had received more hands w/ SSC’s Maul (I know it’s a lot to ask w/ all those great accessories, but… hand expressions are AT LEAST as important as the facial ones in my opinion… you can tell I’m an artist, I guess.)

  14. Zabrak Nut says:

I’m not a big fan of staring at my collectibles, especially if that’s the coolest thing you can do with them. They never change their facial expressions, and they act like they’re SO much cooler than action figures. I hate those statue jocks (not really, but still…)

  15. VADER-LUVA says:

I agree with the majority of these reviews, MediCom sells their stuff for over a hundred $.It’s stupid when you can just buy a SSC one for $45.But I also agree with Anonymous(another reviewer), the cloaks for the Jedi of SSC suck arangatan nuts(those are big nuts!).But, again, as I said, we don’t need another Darth Maul, we got a perfectly awesome one !I mean, the MediCom one does look wicked with the eyes, the gloves, and the hood and everything, but it’s just a waste of money to buy a $150 Darth Maul, when there’s a perfectly sweet, awesome, wicked one you could buy on SSC. And I also agree with Ed B because there’s no Darth Vader 12″ figure. The only thing we have that’s Vader-related is that bronze statue that you can’t do anything with accept stare.

  16. Ikecon says:

If we’re talking likeness and sculpt, by far, hands down, the Sideshow 18′ darth Maul statue is the best out there. If you have the means, I highly suggest getting it.

As far as the 1/6th scale figures go; I’ve seen many pictures of the Maul from medicon on their website and it didn’t look that much better than Sideshows, so I can’t justify the price difference and actually find their sculpt to be less accurite than sideshows but agree sometimes their clothing is better.

  17. Darklord Dave says:

It’s about time someone made a menacing maul.
thx for bring it in Sideshow.

  18. Zabrak Nut says:

    Seriously, yo…

  19. Zabrak Nut says:

Yah know – I wasn’t interested in Medicom’s SW line at ALL until the announcement of Fett…and now we’ve got MAUL!! I seriously considered Vader briefly, but the thing is…his scale was (to be GENTLE) HORRIBLE!! VADER is supposed to be TOWERRING, not….well, you get the picture. I hope that the Fett Family will be CLOSE to sixth-scale… I’ve become (to be honest) a bit too impatient waiting for SS’s Fett figures, so I really wanna try the Medicom ones (and as far as Maul goes…well, being an “acrobat” of sorts, I have a good feeling the Medicom body will do WONDERS for his deadly grace…). SS, BRING VADER ON! WE NEED AN IN-SCALE VADER!! AND LARGER BODIES (please keep them under $100.00 – Hellboy, LOTR’s, Star Wars, X-Files (if that line’s still living), etc. – are ALL going to need “giant-guy” bodies for bigger characters than “big-boys”…). I know you guys are having trouble w/ that ARMOR stuff, but…aren’t you guys geniouses or something? Christopher Walken says so…

  20. bob says:

i perfer sideshows maul over this one medicom is way too exspensive for me all i could afford was the ROTs vader on ebay if they really lowered their prices i’d buy their luke troopers boba ect

  21. Buffybot says:

No, the more recent medicom figures are NOT taller than before. The Medicom Sandtrooper is still about a half inch too short to really look right with most sixth scale action figures.

  22. jack bauer147 says:

HEY SS,WHAT’S UP WITH (COMMANDER CODY,NEYO,GREE)SCORCH,THE WHOLE REPLUBLIC COMMANDO TEAM,ARC TROOPER,CLONE TROOPER,SCOUT TROOPER,TIE PILOT.YOU NEED TO HIT US WITH THESE.

  23. stonedchewy says:

I wonder if it would be a totally different sculpt and size from Sideshow’s? Hmmm…

  24. Andy says:

What the hell is going on, we have already just had a Maul 12″, a Maul 18″ and now a medicom maul something “. Where the hell are all the other characters. We now have another Luke on the way too, and they dont even look alike, which makes me doubt Sideshows Sculpts. Where’s Lando, Palpatine,Han Solo, Imperial guards. It started so well but seems to have lost focus.

On another note, getting a bit sick of the glossy sideshow paint job, starting to look a bit Hasbro, compared against the quality of Hot toys.

  25. Reaper says:

Greeeeeeeat. Another figure that will sell out in 18 minutes flat because of the “2 per person” limit. I’ll attempt to get one because I’m a fan of all things Maul but I won’t hold my breath. Unfortunately, I’m also not looking forward to the $150 headache of hands popping off. Medicom’s Episode V Vader had the issue with the paddle hands, Episode III Vader just seemed cheap and his hands wouldn’t even stay on! Don’t get me wrong. The medicom sculpts are simply awesome (except the Street Fighter Ryu aka Jedi Luke) even though they’re on the smaller side. I just wish the quality of the items matched the “donut pillow” inducing price tag.

  26. Adam says:

Not completely convinced I’ll be needing this. I really enjoy what Medicom does but this seems too similar to what SideShow has already done. It’s the same expression in the face/headsculpt and the price tag may be too high for what SS has pretty much nailed. It’s not different enough to make me belive I can’t live without it. The other thing that I’ve noticed is, like Marmit, Medicom only focuses on villians. The Medi peices I own are cool, but they don’t have the variety SideShow does. I’m looking at my collection over the long term. Now if Medi planned to make thier version of Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan, I might be more interested, but as of now, Luke is the only “Hero” they’ve produced. At least with SS, I know I’m going to get a decent mix of Heros, Villians, and many shades of Grey.

  27. ks says:

At last medicom will have their revenge.
This figure will be awesome.I’m also tired of people talking about how much smaller medicom figures are compared to ss.the more recent medicom figures are taller than before.

  28. David says:

Best likeness of any character so far!!! That looks like Ray Park in makeup!!!! It screams Darth Maul!!!! I only hope the costume parts add up to the likeness. I wasn’t that thrilled with the ESB RAH Vader figure. Quality just doesn’t match my other 1/6th sideshow figs. Still, if sideshow and RAH would combine forces, the figures would stand out in a huge way.

  29. Luanne says:

anything of that honey is worth it,be cool full tattoo body maul in his sexy traing gear.I never got to own any medicom.Hope to be able to order maul.

  30. ML says:

yup, i totally agree. medicom has better articulation compared with ss, but that’s about it. Accessories and sculpt (which i think is the best in the market today) belong to ss. I’ll rather have a $50-60 ss figure with a slightly less articulated body with lots of accessories and good sculpt than a $150 medicom with a smaller body. I passed on the opportunity to get a nice vader from medicom knowing that (hopefully) ss will be making a better vader with the correct size. I know there are already two Leias, but im keeping my fingers crossed that ss would be making a slave leia figure, and a yoda too.

  31. Buffybot says:

Medicom figures are too small and really overpriced. Sure, their bodies are very posable, but their sculpts are horrible. Someone mentioned the RAH Jedi Luke. Worst sculpt EVER! There are $5 Hasbro figures that resemble Mark Hamill better than that $150 thing.

  32. Zabrak Nut says:

I have to admit – I figured Medicom would be making a Maul sometime soon, and I have to give you guys at SS credit for being such good sports about it. I am already sold, but that doesn’t mean I would not have bought the SS one if it had been made AFTER this one – I just really REALLY wanna see what Medicom does w/ the character (heard he’s gonna have like…a LOT of interchangeable hands…also, Medicom deserves credit for their rediculously functioning neck joints…) – oh, yeah…I REALLY want them to do MAUL’s Sith tattoos under his robe, & w/ Medicom’s (usual) attention to detail, it wouldn’t be surprising. Plus the crazy price-point, but some are worth it, while others aren’t (cough, cough! ACCESSORIES, ANYONE?!!!)

  33. Anonymous says:

LOL! This Darth Maul will be even smaller than Sideshow’s
I am contemplating swapping the sideshow Maul body with that of another size, unless of course Sideshow wants to send me an Art S Buck (if those are not the same size as their Maul bodies).

  34. astro666 says:

It will be interesting to see if this Medicom version will be as bereft of accessories as the other Medicom SW offering have been. Although that didn’t stop me from getting the Sandtrooper, Clonetrooper or any of the other ones that I have bought from them. Accessories is one of the areas where SS outshines Medicom. Although I would still rather get an alternate head even if it meant not getting as many other accessories. Also, SS please make a 12″ Han in Carbonite and Sora Bulq, thank you.

  35. HitokiriShadow says:

*faints from glare coming from figure*

THAT is one AWESOME figure!! :D Wow.. well deserving of the name Darth Maul. Excellent work-I’m certainly ordering this one, hands down. He looks just like the Dark Lord of the Sith.

  36. Brendan says:

Are you guys kidding me? I’ve read mostly people whining, when you should be rejoicing that we are getting perhaps the best Darth maul 12-inch figure thus far. I mean the proportion, facial expression(especially the menacing eyes – the SSC one looks like he is blankly staring into space), and the superior poseability blows the sideshow version out of the water. Common folks!

  37. vice says:

    Awesome the perfect maul

  38. Anonymous says:

I agree that SSC always top RAH figures. But RAH cloaks/caps are so much better than SSC who usually make their figures look like cone heads. Or the wire breaks through the fabric. That is usually the only thing I find wrong with SSC Jedi/Sith. The cloaks are sooooooo cheap.

Im only comparing RAH’s Jedi Luke to SSC Jedi Luke. I would have guess that RAH will follow the same template with Darth Maul and any other Jedi/Sith.

    What do you guys think??

  39. Skullsplitter says:

I’m pretty happy with my SS version. Thanks but no thanks.

  40. shockwave says:

I will have to pass too since it will cost over $100! And I have my SSC Maul.

  41. arnax nimrod says:

Except for the bodies, SIdeshow rules over Medicom…I and I think many of Sideshow’s fans want to start seeing some armored figures soon. I am happy for the Bespin Luke, but Sideshow has the best talent in the business, please bring us some armored figures!

  42. Ed B says:

$150 is too much for any of these Medicom imports. $100 would be fair. Now Sideshow, about your own 12″ Star Wars figures . . . repeat after me, “Daaaaarrrttthhh Va-der”, “Bota Fett”, “Stoooooorrrrrrrmtrooooopeeeerrrrrr”.

  43. Andre Felipe says:

I really dont understand this, Sideshow is an amazing company that makes really amazing 1/6th scle figures. When sideshow started the Star Wars Series it was awsome becouse you knew you would have really nice Star Wars figures. I dont know why Sideshow sells medicom star wars figures wich are smaller, much more expensive and come in really limited editions…
Does that mean that Sideshow will never release a Darth Vader, or Stormtroopers, or clonetroopers, or bounty hunters????
I also don’t understand why are you going to release your third Luke Skywalker???? There are already two Leias, and an holographic Palpatine that is beautifoul but is nothing compared to a real one…. The last Star Wars Sideshow releases were not even close to the Medicom ones. I’m a real Sideshow Fan and I hope that this Sideshow/Medicom partnership ends soon, so we can have great Star Wars figures again…..

  44. abake says:

I’ll be getting this, just ’cause I’m a sucker for all things Maul.
Just like I’m a sucker for all things Vader, which means I will be getting SST’s version when they release it, even though I already own Medi Vader.

  45. Darth Cruel says:

This is very interesting. The figure looks great and despite the fact that I have Sideshow’s I will be in line for 2 of these. They can not possibly take the place of Sideshow’s as I do not mix manufacturers. But I am looking forward to seeing how Medicom does him. And if Sideshow is distributing the figure, then it is all good! I am curious to see if Medicom’s higher price will allow this figure to sell well, though.

  46. 9mm Ed says:

So… SideShow sculprts and releases their own Darth Maul. Now Medicom has created their own, and SSC is selling it. I have to ask where the droids, clones, and Vaders are! It seems to go in the face of what I thought I understood about licensing.

  47. michael says:

From just that pose, it looks great, but at the usual $150 price point, it’s not better than the SS version.

  48. Ugg Not says:

Hopefully this will be smaller, Darth Maul was shorter thatn MacGregor and Neeson towered over him. Also I won’t even consider this if it has Sideshows bulky immobile boots. You could multiply the poses possible with Zizzle-style boots.

  49. Kevin says:

So sideshow is now importing characters that they make? What happend to “Exclusive” U.S rights?

  50. Kevin C says:

    No Thanks

  51. Don says:

Maul needs a lint brush. LOL. Looks cool.

  52. Rik Biel says:

Looks nasty – but will it truly be 1:6 or the usual RAH smalelr size?
