Great. Sure, I’ll buy. But how about some emotion??? I wouldn’t even mind shelling out $10 more or so to get maybe alternate heads. All your sculpts are nice but some… plastic… how about an alternate ‘furious head’ or ‘sinister head’ I heard the argument from Hasbro about emotions locking a figure into a specific scene… but alternate heads would fix that, then people that want ‘poker face’ Darth Maul get poker face Darth Maul and the 90% that want a ‘crazed with anger’ Darth Maul get crazed with anger Darth Maul…. So c’mon, if you hate the idea of an emotional figure so much, at least give us 2 heads in a pack so we can decide for ourselves!!! Anyway, great ‘emotionless figure’ see you 9/6
Hey SSC what’s up? Pretty cool two pack to look forward to, though a throne room environment would be pretty sweet. A couple of suggestions, with the Militaries line let’s start to see clone troopers, storm troopers, royal guards, death star gunners, black hole troopers, Cody, Nero etc…Heroes of the Rebellion a Captain Solo in Carbonite two pack would be nice….NO WAIT…a whole Carbon Freeze environment!!! Including a Chewbaca and C-3PO in pieces two pack. That would be sick!! In addition an X-wing Luke, R2D2 C-3PO two pack. Sith line Episode III Vader, like I had to ask. Some Expanded Universe Sith would awesome, Bane, Revan, Nihilus, Malak, Sion. And a Dooku of course. Last but not least from the Scum line some bounty hunters from the search for the Falcon in ESB. If you want to be really cool an X-Files alien abduction Mulder would be sweet!! Rock on!

actually this is a great likeness. brilliant. I only wish the Sith figure’s face was more intense and evil looking, like maybe show his teeth or something. anyway, it’s good, another excellent sculpt.
Actually the sculp is even better than I thought. I took the picture and inverted the colors on paint, and it really brought out the details and showed it’s pretty spot on. guess it could still use a little work wrinkle wise, but I like it. I guess the only problem is the paint then.
Palpatine is awesome I just got the Master Replica’s cane and this piece will look awesome in my Emperor shrine.
Since this was first announced last week, several of you have been jumping SS’ case about how this figure is off. Well, based on images ive seen on google, it isn’t off that much. The biggest whoopdeedoo would be the wrinkles. The pictures I have seen go horizontally. Maybe SS could correct that. Otherwise, it looks pretty dead-on to me. The main thing here is, you look at it, you know immediately who it is.
Unlike when Hasbro did a figure, you would have to play a guessing game as to who it was supposed to be. Those looked nothing like the characters. Here, at least they come pretty dang close.
I hope these arent too expensive SS. I definitely want these. Should be much much better than the SDCC Sidious one.

Cant wait to get these guys does anyone know if there will be an exclusive? What would really be awesome is inbetween the two figures in the package a nice throne. Have the figures on either side and a throne in the middle. Come on Sideshow rock my eorld PLEASE
the over-confident Palpy looks great. I definitely plan on getting this great character as well. However, I wish we could see a Vader, or Commander Cody, etc. I agree with some others on here about droids. Hasbro did good, but Artoo was never the correct height. He was too small. How about a R2 & Jawa set? Since you now have smaller 12″ bodies to support Hobbits and other small characters, like Jawas. I really hope to see Saesee Tiin or Aalya Secura in your line at some point.

The point is Hasbro made a “good” C-3PO and R2-D2, while Sideshow would make a GREAT R2-D2 and C-3PO! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE make these two figures! Help us Sideshow! You’re our only hope!

Yes, C-3PO and R2-D2 would be nice, but as I recall at Celebration 4, a Sideshow panel member made the comment, that Hasbro makes a good R2 and 3PO. All I can say about that is quote Jar Jar Binks – How rude – !!

Palpatine was a great choice of a figure to make. I Hope that Sideshow’s next Star Wars figure is young Obi-Wan Kenobi from Episode 1 The Phantom Menace. Darth Tyranus should be the next Villain 12inch figure.

WOW! The announcement I’ve been waiting for almost a year or so for. Sideshow, you don’t know how happy you’ve just made me. Both figures look great, although I think the Chancellor sculpt might need a little work (altough I diagree about the eariler comment saying it was too thin) to make it look a little more like Ian McDiarmid, and that the zig-zag line design on the outer robe should look more like it did in the movie, but other than that its perfect. The Sidious one looks spot on. This is definately a keeper. God bless you Sideshow.

This is just amazing, Chancellor Palpatine’s face is a bit to thin than it actually shold be, also his eyebrows are very furry and white, but Sidiou’s!!! Good job , Sideshow.

Here’s hoping the Emperor is sculpted after the excellent and more realistic make-up job they did for Return of the Jedi, and not the lousy, fake-looking “I got make make-up done at a Halloween party store” job they did for Revenge of the Sith.

Oh WOW! I cannot wait. My only question is if this is a two figure set, and I AM hoping that it is, how much am I going to have to find stuck between the couch cushions? I love the work Sideshow does and I think every piece is worth the price, but I wish the cost was a little less.

The only other figure I have been this eager to obtain is Old Obiwan. You have out did yourselves with this one. The only way you could make it better would be with some great accesories, Not with the figures but in another package. Any one who bought these two would buy his Chair and some lightning,(for example).

Nice rendition of a very needed sith…all the sculpts are getting better. Now if you guys would only redo/ correct Mace and Han, the journey would be complete. Well, not exactly, we still need stormtroopers and VADER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Palpatine was definitely one of my favorite character in the prequels and I’m liking what I see. It will be nice to own a high quality Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine figure.

Hmmm…I think Hasbro has a better likeness of Ian with their Episode II Chancellor Palpatine–and I’m talking about the 3.75″ figure. There’s something off here because my first thought was “it’s the old guy from M.A.S.H.!”

For the Human faces I think this one is the best likeness of the 1/6 scale line next to Obi-Wan (ANH), and the worst are Luke and Leia (ANH). Thanks SSC!!! Still hope we get Vader?

I find the Emperor a little irritating in both carnations but will almost definitely end up buying these dolls. You guys make such great dolls that even though I have nightmares about the Star Wars prequels I still own four of your prequel inspired dolls. That is a testament to the quality of what you guys do that I’m able to appreciate the beauty of those individual objects without letting my hatred for the travesty that spawned them color my opinion.
I hate the Star Wars prequels but I have bought and will continute to buy your dolls based on the prequels because your dolls are better than those awful movies. Way to go with getting me to buy ancillary merchandise for three movies I don’t even like! That is a testament to the greatness of what you’re doing!
Holy smokes! I’ve wanted Palpatine in red for so long! This is my favorite SideShow offering since ROTS Obi-Wan! My journey to the Dark Side will be complete!
Here’s another bone I’ll throw if SideShow would be so inclined to listen… If you just roto-casted a Jabba figure and sold it well, why not make the politicans in the same manner. I mean, I don’t need them to have the most sophisticated articulation/bodies on the market! The sculpts just have to look good and they can just stand there, or sit. Maybe look side to side or wave thier arms. They’re politicans, they don’t need “action features”, they just need to look good and argue! Price them accordingly! I wouldn’t expect them to cost as much as a Jedi or main hero/villian figures, but I could use “fillers” in my collection. Pair them up with Palpatine and make them look cool as an incentive but keep the price at point where folks don’t feel like thier being taken. Maybe others feel the same way. The completist in me hopes so!
Orn Free Ta would go great with a Palpatine figure, not to mention a Bail Antilles figure. Everyone needs a Jimmy Smits figure and in addition to Lando, I think we need a little cultral diversity in the Star Wars line. Refering to the corrupt politicans, SideShow offers a “Scum and Villany” line. Who says that the Mos Eisley Cantina and Jabba’s Palace are the only place to pick from? The bowels of Coruscant to the Chamber’s of the Senate would make wonderful inspirations to draw from.

I just had an idea… If your’re going to to do Palpatine 2-packs, why not offer an Ep.1 Palpy with Mas Amedda and a Ep.2 Palpy with the “Blue Bald Chic” that are his advisors. Just an idea which I’m sure most would find lame but Senator/Chancellor Palpatine is a major figure of the 3 movies and this could give Sideshow an opportunity to do the different incarnations and fill out other Republic Politicians like “Nimoidians”, “Grans”, “Rodians”, and “Aqualise/Walrus-face” in the Senate Chamber Hall.
One more thing…everyone’s judging this likeness off of ONE DAMN PIC… it looks good to me, AND ANYONE CAN TELL WHO IT IS from just the head sculpt…seems pretty nice to me. I’m a “natural” artist if I may say so, and sculptures this accurate are SO difficult to pull off I have to give a lot of credit…the only one I still have trouble w/ in the SW line is Han…I just think it makes him look fat, or something. He also looks kind of baffled, like he just shot Greedo by accident.
Finally, another REAL Sith Lord, not some “Sith wanna-be” or “deprived, whiney kid turned evil”, but a monster with no redeemable qualities whatsoever!! YAY!! This guy was so evil he saw VADER as just another “tool” (in a cool suit of armor, I might add…and a CYBORG!)…until he threw Palps over his own balcony. Kinda killed their relationship…
Oh, btw – I agree that this probably should have been an Inclusive instead of Exclusive. Believe me, they would sell…. though I don’t think I have to say it. He’s going to look kick-ass next to MAUL, his original killing machine…also basically his only apprentice who knew what’s up AND enjoyed the Purity of the Dark Side… even if he did like playing games w/ some of his victims (ahem…Obi-wan?)
Thanks for adding this sorely missed character from the PT. Alot of people spend time debating the merits of the last 3 movies, but I’d like to think most would agree that Ian’s performance throughout both trilogy’s constitute a sure highlight in the overall story. Without being greedy, because I am happy for this version, I’d like to see at least 2 more version’s of this character one with the “greasy politician hair/smirk” from Ep.1 and the Ep.2 “authentic liver spots action feature”. Really, aside from the subtle differences in hair styles and facial sculpts, this Senator had as many wardrobe changes as Amidala had hair styles!

Come on, guys. You have only seen one partial picture of this thing, and that is with one type of lighting. I agree with the others. It actually doesn’t look that bad.
Please wait for more pictures before making your final decision. You may be surprised. I do give the posters here credit though. Even the negative comments have been very polite.

The biggest thing for me is this going to “cover all the bases?” Are there interchangeable portraits? Can we put “scarred” Sidious head on the Palpatine body? Will there be both a “ROTJ” robe and a “Sith” robe(i.e.-”Battle with Yoda” robe?—Must Have!!) Cane? Senate Chamber “red” robe? SITH LIGHTENING!!!! Not that I NEED all of this, but to make it Complete… This is a very complex figure(s). I will probably buy no matte what, however, attention to deatil will make or break this one!!!

Honestly, some of you wouldn’t be happy with a minaturized Ian McDiarmid. If the sculpt honestly bothers you so much stick with the Hasbro 12″, and don’t tie up the servers the day this goes on sale.

Great likeness! and great choice in outfit. This Palpatine makes the most sense with our current figure selection. PLEASE make sure the Exclsuive edition is HIGH. The demand for Palps is HUGE! Also don’t forget to get the bugs out of the system too or there will be fried servers. Really should have considered an INCLUSIVE, which we haven’t had sine Jabba!
