The Creature from the Black Lagoon Premium Format Figure from Sideshow Collectibles
  1. GaryGerani says:

The greatest Creature collectible ever, not counting masks and props made from original molds. Third time’s the charm for Sideshow’s take on the Gill Man. And while the “awkwardness” of the pose bothered me slightly at first, all concerns went poof! once I saw the finished piece — astonishing work here! I put the Code 3 dimensional CFTBL one-sheet “block” right beside it to the left, “filling the space” below the Creech’s extended arm and providing a dramatic logo. And sure, okay, it’s Ben’s (more detailed) land suit we see swimming in this presentation, not Ricou’s more functional (but still compelling) eyeless rig. All things considered, and for the sake of the salivating, detail-craving collector, I think the right choice was made. And please tell me the Metaluna Mutant, Mole People and Creature Walks are in development (even some “Tarantula” and “A&C Meet Jekyll and Hyde” premiums would be cool…!) Gary G., 2008

  2. Mark Clark says:

Classic, A must have for Horror collectors

  3. Doug says:

The “Creature” has long been my favorite. He is definitely at the top of the amphibian food chain. The detailing of the new release is fantastic. The eyes look lifelike, as if the creature is just waiting for humans to leave the room so he can resume his quest for the open sea.

  4. Allen Coughran says:

Another big hit with fans. Will be one of if not the best in the series. Anxious to see.

  5. albodean says:

Wow that is cool, What the??? I never click on banner ads but I coundn’t resist for this.

  6. Juhani says:

Indeed this figure is a true DREAM come true! It looks like Sideshow has (again) captured what is ESSENTIAL about this legendary screen monster :-) This is a MUST — and a future collector’s item already!

  7. Sci Fi Bob says:

Finally! The Gilman swiming right towards me and I don’t have to wear 3D GLASSES! Great product Sideshow! I’ll take one!

  8. Nick says:

He looks terrific to me.I have waited for a 1/4 scale Gillman for years and from the pics he was worth the wait.I myself own quite a few of the 1/4 scale figures, and for those who’ve never seen them in person…they are BREATHTAKING.Sideshow takes no shortcuts in reproducing these figures;every vein, every crease in the face and that eerie look to the painted eyes which make them seem virtually alive. The eyes of the 1/4 scale Phantom especially appear to follow you around the room…creeepy!

  9. Ric says:

To Monster Bob: The suit in the vintage color photos was painted just for those photos. The actual suits worn for the movie did not have the red painted in those areas.

  10. Ric says:

The sculpture is great but because it’s an underwater pose, the sculpture should have been of the underwater suit worn by Ricou Browning. This sculpture is the land suit worn by Ben Chapman. The two suits have noticable differences and it was Ricou Browning who was the swimmer.

  11. Gareee says:

Wonder if there’s be some way to rotate him where he’s attached to his base so he could be swimming sideways instead of up?

I’m just npot fond on not really being able to see the creech’s face easily…

  12. Monster Bob says:

Looks to be a great figure sculpt, but please make the lips and suit details (palm pads in hands, etc.) more red/dark red, like the actual color the movie Creature suit was painted. There are vintage color reference photos around…

  13. Lendalf says:

ORDERED! Thanks for the early Christmas present Sideshow (even though we won’t see him until next year!) Can’t wait to see him- the sculpting looks exquisite!

  14. Malachy says:

Simple amazing…I am going broke on this one but I cannot pass up this one….One word to decribe it: Amazing

  15. PPK says:

I have to agree about this being the best PF you’ve ever made but the pose is so impractical.Look at the pictures again. The only way you can see his face properly is to put him on the ground and look DOWN at him. At eye level,on your shelf or mantle you will only see his CHIN. Check out the pictures again you’ll see what I mean. Does anybody have any ideas about how to display this thing so you can actually get a look at his face? Don’t get me wrong…I’m definately buying this but I’m really let down by the impracticallity of the pose.

  16. andy says:

    WHOOPEE!! I have ordered one
cant wait to show him off he looks absolutely great
    The detail is incredible
order now or miss out on the best Vintage monster yet
well done sideshow and all the team who worked so hard to make our dream come true

  17. Mike H. says:

I was really pleased to see that it was a polystone figure, I ordered it as soon as I saw pre-orders were accepted.

  18. Doug says:

About time, I have been saving for this. Now I can have it
    yeah!

  19. Jim Stacy says:

It’s time to announce the Pre-Orders, come on, come on ,come on.

  20. jorel says:

just like the movies its great

  21. EE from Denver says:

“Creature from the back of the gagoon.” Was one of my first ever movie memories.

Loved it 25 years ago and still do, only now I am able to keep both eyes open while watching.

  22. BRANDON says:

WOW! simply breathtaking. I am so happy we are finally getting this beautiful creature in premium format. This will look great next to Frankenstein,Dracula,Mummy and the Wolfman. thank you,Sideshow. if you make any others, please let it be a premium format ARDETH BEY.

  23. Doe says:

I really wasn’t into the universal monsters, but I couldn’t resist buying the Bride last year on Black & White Friday and I bought Frankenstein this year. Now you have the Creature from the Black Lagoon……I just might have to ante up and grab this one. It looks awesome!! I am sold on this line.

  24. Mark Payne says:

I have been waiting for this PF for some time, it will look great with all my other color Universal Monster PF’s…Way to go Sideshow

  25. fred says:

wow the cftbl is here almost. been waiting for this one looks cool

  26. Gumby says:

I don’t know if this will be more impressive than Horizon’s 1/6 scale creature [the best kit out there] but it will certainly compliment it very well. This wil be my first Universal monster PF !

  27. Ryan Campbell` says:

With that said, If sideshow creates a more impressive figure than that of the HORIZON Vinyl kit… Then I will be happy… I mean I’m only 16 but I know what I want and what the true fans want, and I hope Sideshow shows the skill and intelligence to present the most screen accurate creature statue… And I know sideshow can do it…

  28. Ryan Campbell` says:

So far, So good… BUT as much as I trust the Artist’s of Sideshow’s skill to be that of perfection with majority of their products, I still worry that one flaw could destroy the magic of this piece… If we take a good look at some of the past model kits/statues that have tried to capture the essence and likeness of The Creature from the Black Lagoon we can clearly see that only a few live up the the true fans expectations… I think that the customers of sideshow will either be very impressed or very disappointed… SURE if you just want an interpretation of the character, FINE, But the Creature is such an iconic figure with such anticipation from the fans for this figure that those who want a screen accurate piece of art will be very hard to please… I wonder if the Artist’s at sideshow could tell me why so many artist’s in the past who have tried to replicate this figure, get it so wrong. (But that’s not to say there all wrong)… Looking forward to seeing the final product… THANKYOU…

  29. Robert says:

OMG! OMG! OMG! Did I say OMG?

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!

    DROOL. DROOL.

  30. John says:

All I can say is …this is an amazing piece and it is long overdue

  31. steezie wk says:

How can that be wrong, if it feels so right?

  32. Barry says:

Is it bad to get aroused by a statue of a monster? Come to me, my fine scaled friend.

  33. andy says:

I want this creature so bad, looks great from this teaser.
Got to buy a display cabinet with mirrors to show off all the vintage monsters glory and excellence. Please update soon I want more pics

  34. Jim Stacy says:

I’d Like to get one PLEASE. I can’t wait.
It’ll be great in my office at the Drive-In.

  35. Mark says:

The CFTBL is the last Universal Iconic Monster whose actor is still alive. You should partner with Ben Chapman for a limited edtion!!

  36. Anonymous says:

  38. Freakenstein says:

The PF Creature shall be a landmark in Sideshow’s Monsterdomination! After Frankenstein’s Monster of course, but I’m biased. Excellent work!

  39. John A says:

Wow! I’ve been asking for this figure to be made for so long, I can hardly believe it’s really going to happen! Can’t wait!!!

  40. PPK says:

As usual, the silver screen version will be the exclusive,I assume.

  41. Zabrak Nut says:

  46. Lendalf says:

SSC, All I can say is thank you!! I missed out on the 1/6 scale Creature, but this was lovely news indeed! My love of the Premium format figs is really growing, and I can’t wait to have the Creature join such other movie monsters as Freddy and Lord of Darkness here!! Please make it a decent edition size (and what’s going to be the exclusive?) Happy Christmas to all!!!

You’ve really done it this time. What a way to finish off the Universal 1/4 scale line.My collection is complete! I’m one of your original customers who started with the first 8″ line back in January of 1999 and I haven’t missed a piece since.I think I’m qualified to declare this the best of the best, your ultimate masterpiece!!!Have you noticed that there hasn’t been a single complaint posted? You will definately have to go back to old production runs of over 1,000 pieces on this one.Trust me,The Creature is even more saught after than Dracula or Frankenstein! Thank you for the beautiful sculpt, the intricate paint job,and the amazing pose.I hope you do a life-size bust to go with it.This is the best Christmas gift a classic monster fan could ask for.

  49. steve says:

WOW!! SIDESHOW PINCH ME. ITS TRUE ! ITS TRUE! WAY TO GO KEEP MAKING THE UNIVERSAL MONSTERS THIS ONE IS THE BEST
THANKS MISTRESS FOR MAKING PART OF MY CHRISTMAS WISH LIST COME TRUE

  50. Bagels says:

Amazing!! I’ll definitely have to score this PF. The paint apps look better than perfect in the photo. Nice job Sideshow!

  51. astro666 says:

Wow, great job SS. If I could buy only one PF ever, then this would be the one. I have always been a huge “Creature” fan. I used to play with the rubbery one that they made many years ago(2 decades ago I think) when I was a kid, it was my favorite bathtub toy. Unfortunately I didnt know SS existed when they made the “Creature” figs and I never got them, bummer for me.

  52. FlyAndFight says:

    SIMPLY BRILLIANT!

  53. Phantom11 says:

Well, Sideshow was the first company to EVER get an action figure of the Creature done right, so I’ve no doubt this will be THE penultimate representation of one of my favorite movie monsters of all time. You guys are the BEST!!!

  54. Larry says:

This Creature looks amazing! I can’t wait to order one. Now, can Sideshow make a life-size Creature for us Gill-man fans?

  55. wax murderer says:

Most impressive. If there’s one PF that I would buy, this would be it. Yet another great likeness of Ben’s suit( though it might have been interesting if it had been Ricoh’s). Now all you have to do is make enough for everyone!…PS

  56. Alan says:

Wowwwwwwwwwwwww, totally amazing. How many will be made?

  57. jason says:

fantastic, sideshow did it again. I am a big fan of universal monsters and cant wait for the creature.
    make more!!!

  61. Monkeypants says:

    Very cool- I’m impressed!!!!

  62. Malachy says:

Incredible, please side show can you make a larger number of them.. The reason is look at the response.. If you make let say 100, most people who want it will not be able to get it or they, pay twice the amount.. a limit edition let say 500 would be nice.. Let all the collectors have a chance to get one..

  63. mudshark says:

I ll take this as an early Christmas present Sideshow.I was like a child so excited i could nt sleep.Logged onto your site at 03.00(i live in England)to see it.It looks beautiful to these eyes. How well that design has aged.

I first got into the monsters when an Uncle bought me “glows in the dark” Aurora Frankenstein when i was 5 and my love has never gone away. And you ve been fanning the flames of monsterdom for many years now with your great figures, which drew me to you in the first place. It s certainly been a bumper year for us fans.Merry Christmas to you all and thanks again : 0 )

  69. Universal Monsters Rule says:

    Looking good so far…
Is it Ricou Browning or Ben Chapman ?, looks like the creature is in a swimming pose, so it must be Ricou.
Did you know that The film has been immortalized in paleontology circles. When Jenny Clack of the University of Cambridge discovered a fossil amphibian in what was once a fetid swamp, she named it Eucritta melanolimnetes, which is Greek for “the creature from the black lagoon.”
Looking forward to seeing the Gill-Man in is full glory but it may of been great to have captured the scene where the Gill-Man is holding Kay (julie lawrence)in her swimsuit. What intension’s did he have I wounder??.
Ciao for now and Happy Christmas Fellow Collectors….
