Product Backstory

Awoken by a vision of his mother Shmi in unbearable pain, Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker and his bride, Senator Padme Amidala, travel to Skywalker's home world of Tatooine to uncover the truth of Shmi's whereabouts. Here they learn that Shmi has been taken by Tuskan Raiders and left for dead. Refusing to accept his mother's death without investigation, Anakin takes a speeder and sets out to find the ones who kidnapped her.

Once he locates the Tusken camp, Skywalker finds his mother tortured and near death. Shmi recognizes her now grown son, but she is too weak to hold on and takes her final breaths in his arms. Seized by an uncontrollable rage, Anakin murders the entire Tusken Raider tribe including its women and children. Returning with his mother's body, Anakin tearfully admits his crime to Padme, who comforts him through veiled shock at the atrocity her new husband has committed.

In this single act of revenge, Anakin Skywalker turns away from the Jedi Order, and his fall to the Dark Side begins. Anakin's emotions overtake him, and he chooses for the first time to allow his resentment to control him, slaughtering the innocent alongside the guilty. Ignoring his Jedi training, Anakin gives in to the Dark Side of the Force, a devastating choice that would haunt his every action until the final moments of his life.
