Product BackstoryThe horrifying villain Ultron created Vision using the remains of the original android, Human Torch, and brain patterns of the costumed champion Wonder Man. Built as a vehicle to wreak vengeance against the Avengers, Ultron implanted a control crystal into the living machine to keep him in check. Despite these precautions, Vision rebelled against his creator and helped the Avengers. He went on to serve the team for many years, faithfully joining them in battle against the most formidable adversaries. His connection with the sorceress Scarlett Witch, proved to be the most significant, eventually leading to a romantic relationship that evolved into a lasting love and even marriage. They left the team with the hope of retiring to a quiet family life.
Unfortunately, the control crystal implanted in Vision during his creation malfunctioned over time. The subsequent series of events led to an eventual meltdown, the worlds nations regarding him as a high level security threat. Vision was dismantled, his memory wiped clean. Although Scarlet Witch and the Avengers were able to recover his components and reprogram him, a resentful Wonder Man obstructed the project. Vision returned to existence but without human emotion or recollection of his deep love for his wife.
