I can’t wait to get mine Sideshow. From everything seen, it looks terrific. Keep up the great work and pay no attention to the, “why didn’t you get Chewbacca, R2D2 C3PO ect ect ect” whiners out there-if they din’t have something minor to bitch about, they’s have to invent something out of need. Remember that there’re lot of us think your work and decisions are great!
She’s gorgeous. Whatever can be said about your choice of character, what you did with her is worth $250 for the execution alone. Your interpretation is ideal. If Lucasfilm knows what’s good for them, this prototype will be approved. As high-end representations of Asajj Ventress go, you guys have hit an unequivocal grand slam.

Finally, a figure that my daughter’s been wanting to be put on top of her desk. I can’t wait to get it for her soon. Hopefully before her B-day. Great job Sideshow.
Uh….is it just me or does it look like she’s got a beer gut?
Oh, and DON’T STOP W/ THE EU!!! I’m a big fan of characters only hardcore fans can appreciate, and EVERYONE knows who Chewbacca, Yoda, and Luke are… EU make for better conversation pieces. Also, I find myself more attracted to the characters that Lucas didn’t care for (Maul, Grievous, Durge, Asajj, Droidekas, Greedo, Zam Wessell, the Rancor…Dewbacks… i.e. generally the less popular characters).
Hmmm… I’m definitely biased, since I don’t collect the Premium Formats (though I won’t lie, they ARE some of the best work you guys do), but - the 12″ figure was a must, and while this PF makes the PF collectors happy, I’m definitely hoping that we’ll be able to look forward to future EU characters that played a major roll somewhere in the saga (i.e. DARTH BANE, DARTH REVAN/MALAK, DARTH NIHILUS, DURGE, what about VADER’s SECRET APPRENTICE?)

I would have rather seen you make a Durge instead of Asajj. You just came out with the 12″ format less than a year ago. I understand that you can’t make everyone happy but a new character would have been better. Not saying this looks like crap or anything because it does look cool. I do love the work SS that you make but I’m going to pass on this one. My loss someone elses gain. Hope you can get the licence for the up coming Dark Knight movie. That would be kick a$$!
Can somebody sent Sideshow a DVD of the first three moives ?? I would bet that they will see not once that character ?? So why do you produce it ?? SW = Luke, Han, Darth Vader, Storm Trooper, R2D2, C3PO, Leia, Chewie, Snow Trooper, Rebell Soldier, Joda, Royal Guard, Jawa and and and…. come on - stick to the path & make collectors happy - even if you have to add some characters to your licence and pay some fees for it…

The only reason I see for you guys to do this figure before a PF Padme is because you’re really sweating the details on the Padme, and wanna make sure it’s your best PF yet. At least, that’s what I’m telling myself.

Is it just me or does her neck just look way too long? I am glad SS is using characters from the Eu. Since I am not getting the PFF line it doesn’t matter to me which characters they make. But I still ooh & aah at each and every one when I see them. I came this close to getting the Boba Fett PFF, this close!!! You almost got me with that one SS. I WISH I had enough cash to get all the 1/6th figs as well as the PFF too, but I gotta pay rent so I have someplace to keep all my SS 12inch figs, and I’m already running out of room for them!!! Blast you SS, why must you make such cool stuff? Speaking of, are you gonna make figs for the new Hellboy movie?

About time too! Ventress wasn’t designed to be an EU character but was opted over Dooku. Otherwise, she would be on screen. Anyway, I think she is uber cool to be in PF! Definitely getting this.
All these Chewie posts are hilarious. Yes, count me as one of those who wants the O.T. first, but have ANY of you raving on about a Chewbacca P/F/ figure stopped for even half a second to consider WHY they haven’t done one yet?
Tell me, in terms of manufacture and accuracy, is there another figure that even comes CLOSE to Chewie in terms of difficulty? When he’s been done in the past, he’s either been sculpted in plastic/polystone, or… well does anyone remember the ridiculous pieces of fluff when he was attempted with hair? What about materials like this breaking down over time. And the fact that if they somehow managed to wrangle some sort of fur and it didn’t look ‘perfect’ how you’d all whinge and moan and how absolutely none of you would buy it making it a SS financial disaster the moment the first pic hit! HOW exactly do you all propose they achieve a figure like this? What manufacturing technique? The only way I can see it being feasible is completely sculpted in polystone. And you’d all cry blue murder. As for Ventress, no thanks. I have nearly all the others save the ESB Luke because of the terrible paintjob on the eyes (sorry guys), so I’ve invested thousands and I love them, they’re amazing. I’d even buy Fett again if SS put out an ESB version (my fave).
But my next purchase is PF Indy, sorry Asajj. I’d buy a couple of Jawas first (hey, if 3PO was a single fig, what about R2 & Jawa/restraining bolt or R2 & Yoda/gimer stick?).

Ah, the future is cloudy, but apparent it is… Many whiners I see, as with Commander Praji, the case was. Preorder now you should, before left crying you are. Basically, I remember all the negative press surrounding the Commander Praji 12″ action figure. However, the bitter irony here is that I was offered $200 for mine shortly after receiving it from someone who’d been whining about him during all the time he was available and refused to preorder. Now I deal with constant nagging because he’s a completest and I still refuse to sell Commander Praji to him. In him, great suffering I feel! HEHEHEHEHE
Glad to see there are plenty of us “Old-School” Star Wars fans voicing their opinions here in these posts! Nothing against the Expanded Universe enthusiasts - as others have said, I’m sure Asajj will be just as Phenom as the other PFF - but there are just so many PFF collectors interested in collecting the ORIGINAL characters 1st, and then maybe consider the EU characters later. I guess my real concern is that Sideshow will not complete the collection with the original, main characters such as Chewy, and the two droids. Heck!..I’d even be happy to see a queen Amidala PFF - as she is seen in her “Phantom Menace” regalia! I can understand Sideshow’s logic…milk the Star Wars license for all the possible characters avaiable to them! After all, this is a big part of their “bread and butter”, but it seems to me there is a huge demand for the core characters from the six films! Call me spoiled. Call me impatient! I’m just looking forward to the day when I can finally display all of the “New Hope” PFFs together in the intertainment room and remember when I was just knee-high to a grasshopper when first bitten by the Star Wars bug!
Just an idea why not an R2 and 3Po premium format combo put them together in one display maybe with 3Po’s hand atopt R2’s dome. That would make for an amazing Premium format piece. Also a premium format Chewbacca flocked with real fur. I for one love Asaji Ventress She was the highlight of the clone wars cartoons but I think you would make alot more sales going with the two mentioned earlier. That and many more people would buy into the droids and everyones favorite wookie. Just some ideas guys and gals.

I agree with the other collectors, while Asaj might be a fairly cool EU character, with only a couple of Star Wars PF’s being released every year, i would much rather see the characters we grew up with and love the most. CHEWBACCA from A New Hope (Not Revenge of the Sith, his mouth just looks really weird in that movie :S) Ill say it again…CHEWBACCA, CHEWBACCA, CHEWBACCA, CHEWBACCA, CHEWBACCA. I believe he is the only main character from A New Hope that has not been made as yet. We need to have Hans sidekick to pose next to him. I Gues it would be a hard item to make though, would sideshow go with real hair? or moulded plastic or something? I guess that would make a difference to the production timing, but im sure the geniuses at sideshow would figure it out!!
I am totally with DarthVerbo about what characters are done. It’s about quality, and who cares if Hasbro did it, or whoever else…we want it done by Sideshow! Asajj…what’s her name? Who cares? I grew up with the original trilogy, and somewhat enjoyed the prequels…I want those characters. I don’t care about some cartoon that I have never seen or even wanted to see. She never made an appearance or was even mentioned in the movies..so why bother? Yoda, Chewie, Lando, C-3PO, R2, Stormtroopers, Jango Fett, Qui-Gonn, Royal guards, Gamorrean guards, Ep.1 Obi-Wan, slave Leia, Tarkin, Emperor Palpatine…hello? There is a ton to choose from, and we get this disappointment who has no bearing in any of the 6 movies. I will gladly pass on this one, and let someone else lay out the cash for this booooooring figure. Let’s get back to the movie characters Sideshow, and not the characters that were made for the Kiddie cartoons! By the way, the Biker Scout Pf is frickin’ amazing..and can’t wait to get the Pf Indy too!
Dear Sideshow - Still wait’n for that AMAZING 1:4 scale PF Wookie named Chewbacca! And let’s not forget about those two droids - c-3po & R2D2! (gotta finish out the main characters!)…and any other armoured PF Figs would be great! I know we’ve seen these figures in other additions before but, as Darthverbo stated, we have’nt seen them done by Sideshow in the Premium Format Line, and that’s what I’m saving for!
I love it am in here like every day to see if theres a picture of the complete statue i like see the pose and if theres a powerup light in her 2 lightsabers anyway i think shes the greatest of the animated characters and i do whant something from the clonewars universe in my collection so if you guys dont whant her shes mine…
Chris, I know every Star Wars character has been done a number of times, BUT NOT BY SIDESHOW! I don’t have 15 Darth Vaders! I have one! The Premium Format Darth Vader from Sideshow Collectibles! I know there has been a lot of crap made before. I don’t want it. I’m collecting Sideshow’s figures. SO, I want them to do major characters from the 6 movies. I’m not a big EU fan. I think it is great but I enjoy the movies. I think the Asajj PF will be great. I will buy it. Sideshow could do any character and I would buy it. I’m just saying if I’m only getting a couple PF’s a year, I want to see the characters I want most. I’m sure a lot of people would be happy with the next 10 figures being EU characters. I am not one of those people. It is just my opinion. I would much rather see a Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Mace, Clonetrooper, Stormtrooper, or Jango Fett. Yes, we have seen these before, BUT NOT BY SIDESHOW! A BMW is not a Yugo! They are both cars but that is it. Sideshow’s figures and Hasbro’s figures are not the same. That is my biggest complaint with people! They think that because we have seen it before, why do it again. QUALITY!!!I hope Sideshow does more PF’s this year. I understand doing a PF Asajj. I was just hoping for something else. I have been spoiled. The PF Biker Scout is amazing! I guess I shouldn’t whine about an EU character getting the PF treatment. Throw us a couple more Star Wars PF’s this year Sideshow!
Love the idea of Ventress PF. With so many great Star Wars Characters as Premium Formats, my question is…… When are you going to do Chewbacca???
He is one of most beloved SW characters and we already have a couple of Lukes, Leia, Obi,Solo, Vader, Boba, Grevious and Maul. Where’s Chewie???
This looks great, I think there is so much more to the star wars universe than whats in the movies. She is more than an EU character, she was a key player in books, comics and cartoons. I was dissapointed she didnt make the movies and was such a superior character to Dooku. I say price her high and keep the numbers low. Leave the droids and furballs to toy stores.
I don’t care what character they choose. we would ALL be happy if you would just choose them FASTER and get them out FASTER. At this rate I am going to be 113 years old before I have them all. What takes SOOOOO LONG? I mean come on, I have stuff on preorder from a year ago that is still not out yet? How hard is it to manufacture 1000 toys and send them over from China? I agree though, I love the Asajj but am dissappointed that there are no wookies or droids yet. I would not be AS disappointed if they were all out together. seriously, can anyone say why it takes so lone? for instance, i just oredered Indiana Jones PF exclusive. There will only be 1000 of those and it won’t ship until 4th quarter, if it is not delayed. Does it really take 6 months for that? What happened to Frodo and Sam 12 inch line? I mean stick the heads and the feets on the model bodies and get them out so we can get Merry and Pippin before we DIE. ugh!

The movies? The movies, I mean come on. Movie characters have been done to death and back again and beaten like a dead horse. Good idea, Verbo, let’s make some MORE figures based on the movie characters. I’m sure most Star Wars collectors don’t already have a room full of figures of characters from the movies. Oh wait…they DO. You strike me as the type that only likes original flavored potato chips.
I’ll tell you who would make the absolute BEST EU figure. And it ain’t no Mara Jade, no Grand Admiral Thrawn, no reborn Palpatine from Dark Empire. No. Think more along the lines of a largely unknown, extremely obscure character from West End Games’ RPG series. Look him up on Wookieepedia and you’ll see a picture of him. He’s a stormtrooper called Brezzic Marr. Guy looks so awesome I’d be afraid to put a figure of him next to any of my other figures, he’d probably eat one of ‘em.
Biding my time for a Sith Premium Format Obi Wan to match Anakin. A Chewir with hair would be cool in PF or 12″. Would love an Aayla Secura in both formats as too!

I know some may find this shocking but there are actually Star Wars fans out there that enjoy more than just the original trilogy.
Why is it not okay for sideshow to make a product for THOSE fans just because others STRICTLY prefer the OT (or *just* the 6 movies)?

I’m not sure how I feel about this one. Asajj is an interesting character, but I agree with Verbo. Why not an OT character? The PT and EU are already getting lots of love. I myself prefer the OT but the Asajj looks good so far. Please don’t forget the movies that started it all.

Why? I have collected nearly all of the Star Wars PF’s and collected loads of the LOTR lines old and new, but there comes a time for me when I will only buy the essentials now. Too me, this just isn’t essential any way I look at it like a Lando or Chewie, a clone trooper or more of Jabbas crew would be. Fair play these may come in the future but some of the choices lately have surprised me to say the least!! I could have seen this release coming so please, please, please don’t get boring….

i dont understand the randomness of the statue selection asajj is a character from recent cartoon when the last statue was biker on speeder then surely the next should be ewok or leia luke in endor gear etc

Sideshow is a great “thinker” company. It seems as though people think that they will actually start making the main characters or the characters that people want the most! Ha! In time, they will come but one never knows. People are just going to keep buying and buying these less important characters such as those never seen in the films and that’s why there are still no “well anticipated” characters out there. And the extra head on the Indy figure is AWESOME!! I guess people just aren’t creative enough to think of anything new to say so they keep refering back to the Indy head.
I can’t BELIEVE they are making a Star Wars PF based on a cartoon. When there are literally hundreds of better characters from the original source material. I didn’t get the 12″ because it didn’t have that lifelike quality Sideshow is famous for.
Sure are a lot of whiners out there! I don’t care for every character done either but at least they aren’t just blindly putting out the same figures Hasbro has done to death. And I’m sure the main characters will be put out at some point. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it, and wait for the next one you like.
I love this figure, but PLEASE don,t make her exclusive interchangeable head. Bring back the accsessories like the mouse droid with Darth Vader
I actually think this Asajj will look amazing. Sideshow does an amazing job. When you wait months for a figure to come out and you spend a lot of money to get every one, it is easy to be disappointed when you don’t get one you really want. It’s not like Sideshow is cranking these PF’s out. They can’t. They care too much about the quality. BUT, you can see how when you only get a couple a year, you want those to be the figures you love the most.
If we only get 2 Star Wars PFs this year, then I’m bummed because one is an EU character. I have the PF Biker Scout. Now that is a nice PF!!!! We need to see a PF Stormtrooper, Lando, Episode 3 OBI-WAN, Qui-Gon, Count Dooku, ESB HAN, ESB LUKE…… I could go on and on!!!! When I think of those figures done by Sideshow, Asajj just doesn’t blow my hair back.

The OT has not been done to death!!! Show me a Sideshow quality 1/4 scale figure of any OT character!!!!!!! I understand why Sideshow has made a PF Asajj. The new Clone Wars animated movie, they have already made a 12 inch figure and all the bugs are out, and they have had requests by fans to see EU characters. OK I GET IT! I just feel that the PF line should really focus on OT characters. I would offer the Asajj as a exclusive. We haven’t seen a lot of Star Wars PF figures the last 2 years. If we are only getting 2 to 3 PFs a year, then I don’t want one of those to be wasted on a EU character. I think EU characters are great, but Sideshow needs to put out 4 SW PFs a year. Then one could be a EU character and I wouldn’t feel neglected because the other 3 would be from the 6 SW films.

Asaj looks good, and I may purchase… MAY…. but come on, how about a CHEWBACCA!!!! PLEASE!?!?!? or how about a PF ARTOO and THREEPIO? Rebel Pilot? or some Imperials (Stormies, AT-AT driver, Tie Pilot, etc.)
Ignore all those moaning this isn’t an OT figure! OT has been done to death! The 12″ Asaaj was outstanding and this looks like it will be even better. This looks like it will be my first PF figure
I agree with both sides: There are still many characters from the star wars cannon that ought to be developed. However, sideshow has been known for risking on other side-characters. Yet there are very fundamental characters that HAVE to be done: Yoda, Chewie, Stormtrooper, Obi EP3. The luke and yoda that was released is insufficient as a proper Yoda for the premium format line. I DEMAND A PREMIUM FORMAT YODA!!!!!! It would have to be about 8″ max, so dont charge more than $200 for it!
Looking Awesome Sideshow! I love all these crazy people who ‘demand’ things from Sideshow. Hey - if you want something so bad, start your own business, get your own Lucas license, and do it ‘your way.’ I, for one, am going to default to the professionalism of Sideshow - they obviously don’t just randomly pick characters. They have to balance fan wants with smart business. Keep up the good work Sideshow!
Really nice sculpt. I haven’t invested in the PF line except for Fett due to cost, but may rethink this one.
As for why Ventress - Come on Guys, this will likely be out in time for the release of the new Clone Wars series, in which I am sure Ventress will play a role. This is just good marketing.
Sideshow. Here is a challenge for you: 1) Make characters that are not based on the regular human body. 2) Reduce the pricepoint of your 12″ figures.
As for this, I like it but I am saving my pennies for Hasbro’s AT-TE and Premium Millenium Falcon.
I really didn’t like the realistic look of the regular Asajj figure (I prefer the cartoon look), but this picture looks fantastic. I hope it ends up looking this good in reality.
That said, a few more main characters would be more appropriate before an extended universe character.

Chewbacca, kind of important. Stormtroopers, make an appearnce or two.
I mean make iconic characters, not ones popular with a certain segment of fans. Everyone likes the original trilogy, the recent stuff, not so much.
I like the idea of using the EU characters for PF but would like to have seen something new, like another Sith Lord from EU or KOTOR. Still anything produced by Sideshow is top shelf. This will be another great one!!!
The next senseless statue! Thinking on Anakin it was the same: first 12inch figure then Premium format- this is bad politics in the product line. What happened to building up Chewbacca, C3PO, R2D2, Stormtrooper Premium format???
Kinda with Darth Verbo on this one. WAY too many possibilities from the films you guys could’ve done first, and funds are just too dicey these days to be shelling out major cash on an EU PF character. I’m sure it’ll be kick a**, though!
Ventress is all well and good, but why not a more recognizable EU character, like Thrawn? (Speaking of which, when is the 1/6 scale Thrawn coming out? And will he have an Ysalamiri?)
Why Asajj Ventress? Why not Count Dooku PF or a EP3 Obi-Wan PF?
still no 12″ vader, stormtrooper, chewie, 3-po, r2-d2, etc. etc. i serously would have collected even this line, but SS has really turned me off on neglecting the most important characters of the entire saga.

Why not go for something like Han Solo in Carbonite, with lights and so on.
Going for a little known character from a cartoon isn’t a smart business move at all.
Asajj looks totally cool in a Kiss, rockstar kind of way. I hope the Clone Wars series for 2008 really develops this character. She was so much smarter than Anakin. She quit while she was ahead and left it all behind. Keep the hits coming Sideshow.
this must be coming out to support the clone wars animated movie. obi wan ep3 next please, i love this line. i am still excited about asajj though.

Normally, I would say why EU when theres original trilogy to do first, but first, but for Asajj…way cool!
What a waste of time. So many great character to pick from an a EU one is selected. Normally SSC is on top of things, but not this time. Very disappointing.
Looks good but, why her instead of of Bossok, a light up IG-88, 4-Lom or any of the other bounty hunters. I guess this will look good next to the 12″ version I already have…………

I’m glad you’re doing an EU character Sideshow! There are alot of really great characters out there not in the movies. I’d love to see a Voss PF or 12″ figure! Keep up the great work. And by the way, if you’re fealing really generous and can find it in your heart, you can give me one the Asajj PF figures. My budget’s about busted and I don’t know how I’m going to decide between this and the Indiana Jones PF tomorrow.

Sideshow is a thing unto itself, and when it comes to project selection, it has no peers, much less rivals.

No one loves you more than I Sideshow, BUT Asajj Ventress Premium Format????? NO WAY! With all the characters to be explored in George Lucas’s 6 films… we go with and EU figure!!!??? BOOOOOO!
I’m sure it will be amazing. I was really hoping for an Episode 3 Obi to go with Anakin. Asajj should have been your COMIC-CON Exclusive. I’m complaining, but you know I’m going to buy it!!!! I’m addicted. I have every single Star Wars PF and I’ll end up buying this one as well.
