'Dark Counsel' Theoden and Grima Polystone Diorama - Coming Soon to Sideshow Collectibles.com
  1. FLAMES says:

    I LIKE IT

  2. SDJ says:

It’s not conventional but it’s growing on me. Nice detail work in the throne. Now, how about GROND breaking the gates of Minas Tirith or Boromir at the door of Balin’s tomb.

  3. Matt says:

Next 12 inch- MERRY AND PIPPIN!

  4. davemac says:

Secondlook at the full diorama has convinced me to order! Think it will look better in a darkened display setting though. And as for suggested pieces: How about a shocked Elrond pointing out to Sam, Merry and Pippin that Frodo was summoned to a secret meeting and not them?

  5. Bill (Irish Guy) says:

Just had a look at the Sideshow 360. Wow! very nice. Super detail. Base works very well. I think it might be worth have a rethink on Theoden’s eyes though. P.S. Like Phil Green’s idea of doing Faramir’s funeral pyre (may be worth having a look at).

  6. Bert says:

This is a great piece but may we see Haldir in his red armor at helms deep? come on no love for Haldir?

  7. Fernando says:

I have all the statues , dioramas and premium format figures from lord of the rings, but, where is threebeard?

  8. Mathom says:

Sideshow has done an excellent job depicting this scene. But I won’t be buying it because it’s not a scene I want to look at again and again.

  9. Henry says:

love it but still waiting for an ENTS ATTACKING ISENGARD DIORAMA! HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE? I also wish you would make a better Mumak than the Weta one. A diroama of when Legolas brought the one down and include the warrior that is driving the thing! PS and hurry up too…what takes SOOOOO long??? OMG!

  10. Kright23 says:

LUV IT!!!! The feeling and mood of the scene has been captured perfectly

  11. roguebaron says:

Well, i like theoden, and while this is not my first choice of scenes, it is unique it it’s presentation. I’ll wait to see more picture of grima, something there just doesn’t do it for me yet, but that may just be this picture. Wish gandalf was in the scene as well…

  12. jodo says:

Well not too bad…the busts had a better likeness BUT I’m still waiting for Treebeard or you could have the riders of rohan .

  13. Susan says:

This is magnificent detail. Wow! Another winner from Sideshow!

  14. Kit-Kat says:

Great detail but i gotta agree with everyone else. Why this scene? And yes more hobbits are always good! SS hasn’t done Frodo in a long time it seems… oh and gotta agree with silvablu on the “far green country speech”. That would be an AWESOME piece!

  15. Shae Leonard says:

Sorry guys…this one is not for me, either! I wouold also like to see dioramas of “The Council of Elrond”, of Merry, Pippin, and Treebeard, of the “Three Hunters”,
of Merry, Pippin, Boromir, and the Uruk-Hai, of King Aragorn and Queen Arwen, etc., etc. There are so many great scenes to choose from…but this is not what I’d call great.

  16. Ommatidia says:

Usual Sideshow exceptional attention to detail with these LOTR dioramas. Can’t wait to see more! Yep, gotta have it too.

  17. ScottyG says:

Man this one looks pretty gnarrley
cant wait to see the rest fo this beauty

  18. Ruben says:

Theoden looks good… not quite sure ’bout Grima. Don’t think this one is for me… out of all the amazing book/movie moments, I would never have thought about displaying this moment. Sorry, i’ll wait for more battle/fight poses that show some action.

  19. ColinS says:

Great idea. Grima, however, pales (no pun intended) to the quality of the weta staute and bust. Hope there is some improvement in his facial features before this comes out. Otherwise this is awesome addition to the diorama line.

  20. batjac says:

Can’t wait to see it in real time

  21. davemac says:

Hmmm? Tricky one. Initial impression on close up is that paint job very basic on costume, not much blending of shade and texture to give it a more ‘authentic’ look. Great sculpts, poor paint job making it look mass produced in a colour-by-numbers way!

  22. Phil Green says:

From this pic, Grimas’ face looks too crude, though the hands and atire of Theoden look very good. The one character you have never done in any form and would look fantastic as a diorama, would be Denethor arma aloft standing on Faramirs’ funeral Pyre - now tell me people you wouldn’t like to own that!

  23. AR says:

Where are Merry and Pippin!!??? Loved the previous diorama!! Need more Hobbits or even Ents…WHERE IS TREEBEARD????

  24. Gerri says:

WHAT, very harsh words from a lot of you! The diorama looks AWESOME, faces are right on. Sideshow is doing another GREAT statue, Thank You! Keep on bringing us more Lord of the Rings! :-)

  25. silvablu says:

Wonderful likenesses, but not to my taste, alas. Hobbits, please! Frodo and Sam on Mount Doom during the “strawberries” speech; Merry and Pippin during the “There won’t be a Shire” speech; Pippin and Gandalf during the “far green country” speech. Any of those. All of those. I’ll buy them. Especially the last one.

  26. SDJ says:

If you were so keen on doing “council’s”, I believe Elrond had one that would make a far more impressive diorama.

  27. DoubleD says:

Sorry guys, both facial sculpts are off. Theoden’s hands and overall appearance are very well done and the throne looks cool, but I won’t be buying it. Weta’s Grima and Théoden busts are in a totally different league.

    Please: something R-I-V-E-N-D-E-L-L !!

  28. Bill says:

Love it! I’d like to see a diorama of Frodo and Gandalf before the Elven Gate of Moria,,,, or the fellowship on the staircase of Moria AS Frodo and Strider fall toward the others

  29. Jeff Davis says:

No Sorry, an avid fan and active collector! but i would not buy this one. detail looks good but you have a wealth of great moments from the books and i am not sure this is going to be a great seller for you? would suggest you set a very very low amount.
    regards

    jeff

  30. Aaron Hee says:

Cannot imagine this is from sideshow…speechless.

  31. Ulrike Touzinsky says:

Very Creepy! Welcome to the dark age!
    It’s on my shopping list.

  32. Iluvatar says:

Another Diorama for me… I was waiting for Theoden on his trone since the begining of my LOTR collection… That’s a good news… Thanks Sideshow…

  33. GroundskeeperWillie says:

The Sideshow copy editing department better step it up–this should be ‘Dark Counsel’ not ‘Dark Council’. Get it right, guys! ;)

  34. Doe says:

Not too sure I like it. I will have to think about this one, especially since you got me with the PFs. I don’t think my wallet can handle another one.

  35. andre says:

Well, at least it’s not another ‘fight’ diorama.

  36. Jason Perino says:

Not too keen on this one! Best thing about this Diorama will probably be the detail on Theodens’ Throne!

  37. Aidy says:

Got REAL excited at the Vader teaser… saw the link to this and near wet my pants. Saw the faces and panic over. No sir, I don’t like it. :/

  38. eowen says:

Nice! I must say you said it Henry! Wasn’t expecting this, looks pretty awesome. It will be mine!

  39. Eric says:

A well executed piece. Although not my first choice for the next diorama subject, this is well done and evokes an exceptional scene from the Two Towers. Thanks Sideshow for another great piece for my collection!

  40. Kat Spahr says:

    Looks absolutely awesome!!

  41. Robb B. says:

Whoa! Creepy! (Their eyes look a bit off, but that’s probably just the angle.) What an evocative composition, though! Sideshow does it again!

  42. MesaScott says:

    This will be mine

  43. Henry says:

holy sh*tballs! wow! great! Sideshow never stops surprising me!
