I know this is really boring and you are skipping to the next comment, but I just wanted to throw you a big thanks – you cleared up some things for me!

I just saw this Vader in person as part of my friends collection of SS 12 inch figures. It’s beautifully done but it looks too tall. It’s like Chewbacca tall. SS Leia’s face is at the same level as Vader’s breathing box. I mean I like my Vader to be tall but his is stretching things a bit.
Sideshow, what have you done to poor Vader helmet ! I feel so frustrated when I see the final product compare to the prototype. I can’t anderstand how you came to validate this dome wich is not screen accurate at all ! It is TO SMALL ! How could you miss this ?!
I got my Stormtrooper last week, and figured I’d try to get this word in before they finish the Stormtrooper Commander and Sandtrooper 12-inch figures. While the look of the Stormtrooper is amazing, the assembly needs some help. The armor fits very loosely on the underlying frame, so that when I first pulled it out of the package, I couldn’t bend the arms. I had to pull the armor pieces into position and turn them around the arms (and legs too) to get them to all be in the right position.
Also, the torso armor needs something to hold the front and back together, or at least hold those respective parts to the torso. It tends to open up a little (with the over-the-shoulder straps as hinges) and sit funny.
Sideshow, I love your work, have a number of pieces and expect to buy more, but please try to do something to fix this issue on the rest of the armored figures. I think just putting some pieces of foam inside the limb armor would help hold it snugly to the frame.
Finally you guys! I’ve been waiting forever for these two! Keep up the good work and try some Hoth figures, PLEASE?!
Vader looks menancing but storm trooper looks weird…Vader looks set to be my first SSC figure! Hope there will be a Dooku in the future!
Hmm. Fantastic detail, but I figured out what was bothering me about this figure: it’s a bit out of proportion. It looks like a little kid in the costume!
Otherwise, the usual great job. And, yes, with all the SW figures over the years, we are certainly overdue for a definitive 3-PO and R2.
The Stormtrooper was a wait list item 2 min. after it went to priority pre order??? I signed in and placed my order for a wait list stormtrooper at 2:02:45 central time and it was a wait list item. Did anyone else experience this ?
These prices are great if you normally collect 1/6 figures! Look at how much Medicom & Hot Toys figures cost. If you want Hasbro prices & quality get in a time machine. Keep ‘em coming Sideshow!
Having Vader and an ST is finally going to do it for me. The prices are getting WAAAAAAY to high for these figures. There’s only one more I’d consider purchasing at this point and it’s Boba Fett. Sorry SS, but that’s gonna do it.
Psyched! Got the DV Ex! It looks awesome. I am not even going to complain about the price like so many others who will buy it anyway.
WOW! Got Vader in under a minute and a half! Great ordering system SS. I think the price is a little high of a figure that does not have many accessories and no removable helmet to show Anakin underneath, but it is a good looking figure. On to the Stormtrooper!
Yep, another priority pre-order probably will be sold out in 10 seconds or less. Slim chance of getting it!
Excellent work Sideshow but it took you WAY too long, and the Vader is way too overpriced. You’ll start losing customers if you don’t calm down with your prices. Times are tough. Excellent job though, I will be ordering both Vader and the Stormtrooper. oh, and one more thing… Please extend the exlusive hours for ordering, I can’t order them at those hours!! NOT FAIR
I just bought a Bespin Skywalker (excellent) and Commander Praji (also very nice). Unfortunately this vader is way overpriced. The Trooper is greatly overpriced as well when you consider it only comes with one blaster. I think the Trooper should be $54, and Vader $75-$90. I hope the prices drop so I can finish my display case. I really do not want to display my Habro Vader with SSC figures.
Nice looking Vader, but a bit pricing espcialy when you add in the tax/shipping. I might take my chances and wait for eBay and get it cheaper…
According to the specs the Darth Vader figure is 14″ high but the box is 16″ high while Ki Adi Mundi, Stormtrooper and the Rebel Fleet Trooper are 12″ high but come in a 17″ high box. Why is Vader’s box shorter in height?

Thanks SO much SS! This is THE Vader as far as I’m concerned (saw Star Wars opening week when I was 7 and wanted to be a Dark Lord of the Sith ever since). I am a bit shocked by the price but at least you gave us a few months to get ready (betty not release any major LotR at the same time!!). Can’t wait to see final production shots.
Been waiting a long time for this to come out. And it being EPIV makes it really good with my Ben Kenobi. The force is still with you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He IS 14 inches, according to the specs on the order page. They developed a new body for the added height.
Just looked up Medicom’s Vader. Seriously if you think this figure falls under even the good category, then you don’t deserve a Sideshow piece. Please ship them back or sell them to me. To put the two even in the same category or even compare them is an insult of great magnitude. Maybe your better off buying stuff from Hasbro then. Sideshow makes items that appeal to the discerning collector. In layman’s terms that means taste. How much money you have or don’t have has nothing to do with taste. While i agree they did price the 1/4 scale endoskeleton replica too high, i feel their pricing overall while it stings a little is worth every penny as you get really well made movie art.
You pay for discerning quality but reading these comments, i wonder if i made a mistake by ordering and passing on the premium format that i was getting for $400. Are these action figures or is this something you can display say in a home theater? i noticed the suit in the premium format looks slightly different from the 12 inch. Are they from different movies?
So when are we getting Darth Maul? Medicom’s version is not bad but his face is too thin.
I also thought the cloak looked a little bulky i.e winter Vader and not sure about the inner outfit under the chest plate. But i hope that they make all these corrections before shipping it. They have tons of time.
Both figures look great, but $125 for a 12″ VADER?
They should have at LEAST made him 14″ like the Hasbro talking VADER from the late 90′s.
They both looks fantastic SSC. Vader does look a little stocky, maybe that’s just the photo. Prices are getting out of control- I know that the licenses are expensive, but I feel that it’s being passed directly to us. I’d also like to renew my request for a HAN IN CARBONITE!
now, dont laugh at my surname but now whats sideshow doing next? Queen Amidala?, Dooku?, Lando?, Chewy?, TPM Obi-Wan?, What about Zam Wessel or Grand Moff Tarkin? if you do make them figures sideshow’d be a worldwide house names, etc

I dig this New Hope version with the inner robe over the armor. The fabric looks a little stiff though. Hopefully the released version will use a more flowing fabric or have a wire sewn into it. Still looks sweet. Just nitpicking. He’s got a home with me either way.
People do realize that the Stormtrooper is slated for a 4th Quarter 2008 release and Darth Vader is 2nd Quarter 2009, right? We all know with delays, etc. that they could come out together, but they are not slated to at this point.
if they plan to do a ROTJ vader why not a bare chest,tattoo maul.the sculpts pretty good but those bodies are a nuisance.when will Mara arrive?
Weak; prices increase, yet is still the same $70 quality figure.
Every SW 12inch line, the most important is Vader… and I am not sold here. And the Stormtrooper, it seems to have a better helmet, but I can’t tell from the 4 pictures. I hope to see more pictures, a little more dynamic poses? Stormtrooper is like a freaken lamppost. Are the new figures with the new body for more poses? Can Vader’s helmet opens up like Medicom Vader?
Anyway, maybe this is the best you guys can do, but without Vader, I will probably drop the whole 12inch line from you guys.
Vader really seems well done. I wonder if this is a pre production or what we can expect when it ships. The price on this is just crazy. Not sure I can drop that coin on such a nice figure though!
The figure looks great and I’ve been saying for awhile if they made a Darth Vader, I’d get it immediately. Then I saw the price. $125, that’s like double what most 12-inches cost, and it’s just the Vader by himself. So, I was pretty much halted in my tracks. Sorry, Sideshow, I will not be buying.
You know, it looks like Darth Vader is a little thick. He just looks too wide. He looks like he has the build of a short and stocky person.

Awesome Stormtrooper and Darth Vader Sideshow! Can’t wait to add them to my personal collection. Now that you have a sculp for both – bring on the Episode III Vader and Orange Shoulder padded Sandtrooper with interchangeable White Shoulder pad – add some air-gun spray dirt to look more realistic. for all you people who think vader looks too much like a samurai. thats where lucas got the idea from. if you knew your history of star wars you would know. the anh vader is bets looking vader of all. even with his rob over his armor. why lucas went away from the anh vader and made slight changes ..is beyond me.
once again you people at side show for get the one crucial detail about the anh darth vader. it might be the photos. but i do not see a widows peek. just like your premium format figure. i was going to buy one of these just like the pff vader. but, i will not. no widows peek so sale!!!

Wow…they look fantastic. Honestly though, does everything really have to ship at the same time? Vader, the Stormtrooper, the Rebel Trooper, and a few others as well that I seem to recall all scheduled to ship during the height of the Christmas buying season?! It’s bad enough that I’ve just had to plunk down a bunch of many in the past several weeks alone for Frodo, Sam, Han, Luke, Sean and Ed, all of which shipped within weeks of each other – now if I want these two I’ve got to do it all again when I should be buying for others? These things aren’t getting any cheaper, and money is tight for most folks nowadays. Isn’t there any way releases could be staggered a little more? Oh, and is it too much too ask for a little heads up before the pre-orders go live? Not everyone can be sitting in front of the computers scanning your website all day – some of us do work nights.
Sorry to sound so down – I do love me some Sideshow Toys, but it’s starting to seem like you folks don’t really appreciate us fans so much anymore.

Finally a darth vader but i wish it was the ROTJ version because i dont like how his robe is over his chest plate it looks strange, i wonder if you will be able to remove his helmet? Couldnt believe the price though i wonder why its so expensive? thank you SSC but please make a ROTJ version that would be great.

The blaster pistol exclusive is a weapon that has been seen in publicity shots and costume test photos of stormtroopers circa 1977. I don’t recall them actually being used onscreen.
If I’m not mistaken, Hasbro has just issued the pistol with a figure in the Evolutions line.
Your killin me with your insane price increase. Won’t be buying much longer if they keep going up. On the lighter side of things these look great, keep up the good work.

If you look at the figure specs, he is 14 in.
He is definitely ANH Vader. However, I am used to seeing his robes tucked under the shoulder/breast plate. He looks sort of Samurai like with them on top. Still very cool!

I think Sideshow dropped the ball in letting others sites get pictures of their new products up on line before they did though I am still stoked about the new Sideshow Star Wars products the sites unveiled.
How much for the Stormtrooper? Since it would be impossible for me to collect all of the Sideshow figures, I’ve limited myself to the “Militaries of Star Wars” figures. Now all we need are Snowtroopers, Biker Scouts, Clone Troopers and I wouldn’t mind a figure of General Veers, too!

Great! The ep4 vader helmet is by far the best, with the most insect-like face and sharper helmet. I much prefer it from the ‘melted-down ep 5,6 and especially 3 helmet, Leia wannabe.

I would have much, much preferred an ESB or ROTJ Vader. The design tweeks really did make a difference. Still this figure can probably be altered so I will be preordering him.

Two of the most long-awaited Star Wars characters up for pre-order on the same day? Are you guys anticipating we’ll only be able to score one or the other? You guys are definitely makin’ me nervous.
Finally the most expected figure. PAPA VADER. I only noticed 1 thing. The shoulder pads, in ANH the top armor part was a single piece ( chest and shoulder pads) this figure looks more like EP3 but I still will buy it. This will be my 12 SSC Piece on my collection.
Awesome… so what will the exclusives include? Either way put me down for one Vader and two Stormies… just need to see the exclusive item to determine if it is worth the direct order, or I can buy at local retailer for a bit less…

These look great, but why are they not INCLUSIVE?! After the server meltdown with ANH Obi Wan, I hope both of these go well because you know everyone and their mother will be trying to get one.
While I think they both look awesome, am I the only person disappointed that these are EXCLUSIVE and not INCLUSIVE? If ever a figure begged for an Inclusive Edition, I would think it’s Darth Vader.
Glad to finally see Vader and troopers, nice to see that the armor has finally met the Sideshow standards and that we can now begin to get some more of the core characters…..saw some great pics of Vader in this months issue of AFD, and he does look pretty damn nice….I’m a little concerned that the price for Vader is $129.95 ???… hope that the Stormtrooper comes with a plethora of accessories, multiple guns, rifles and so on….also, the Rebel Fleet trooper looks good, hoping for a two-pack on him, though???…. so does this mean we will finally see some Sandtroopers, Biker Scouts, Boba Fett, Jango Fett, IG-88….. Clonetroopers, etc. etc. etc…???keep it up Sideshow, thanks.

This is really awesome. I agree with abake and dez on the helmet and cape. Hopefully they’ll look way better in person. Begs the question though, are they going to make other versions of Vader now?

Excellent and about time. I have all the exclusive figures to date. Since you’re making a premium format Tusken Raider I would love to see the 1/6 scale version. Also a jawa, yoda, biker scout, boba fett, leia bespin, chewbacca, c-3po and r2-d2, clone troopers, gamorrean guard for jabba’s palace, jabba’s dancers and band members, and of course more jedi and sith! Rebel Fleet Trooper, Storm Trooper & Darth Vader all at one time? I knew this was going to happen ever since the release of Commander Praji. Now that whole Tantive IV scene in the beginning of A New Hope can actually be done. You guys are truly pretty complete. Thanks Sideshow for finally bringing in Darth Vader.
I’m so glad that Vader is going to be the ANH version. I hope you folks did your research! I sold off all my SS stuff because of the price increases, but Vader will be worth it. I’m gonna pass on the others, as I know they will be too expensive. Sure, Vader will be too expensive too, but hey, he’s VADER! Can’t wait to see more pics, Sideshow!

Hmmm… Waited a long time for these, Vader looks good, but I hope they go with a different fabric choice. That fabric looks like the same stuff on Maul’s tunic and it’s tough to keep clean. It’ll be easier to tell with more photos.
