  1. Tango78 says:

I have only one thing to say,
    CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW PREMIUM FORMAT!!!!!!!

  2. Patrick Porter says:

Tron* lol..Just realalized I misspelled it earlier in my excitment of the new Lisence

  3. DarthDevil says:

PREMIUM FORMAT CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW! PREMIUM FORMAT CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW!

  4. erik says:

What about Disney PF or statues or any other stuff, from the forgotten movie: The Black Cauldron.
what about a diorama where the horned king is standing on the rock calling the dead army, and the magic cauldron releasing it’s magic true the green smoke.
    THAT WOULD BE AWSOME!!!

  5. JS in Rochester says:

Granted, a light up PF Tron would kick myriad butt.
    .
    (Yes, myriad is an adjective.)

  6. Patrick says:

Traon FTW..Also would like tons of Peter Pan Stuff (for my daughter…gotta suck her in somehow) and tons of Alice in Wonderland stuff.

  7. GODZION says:

Has everyone forgot the soon to be greatest PF ever, TRON! It also needs to light up.

  8. Tango78 says:

Would love to see Jack Sparrow, that would be so awesome. PLEEAASSEE SS, JACK SPARROW!!!

  9. Jason says:

Definitely thrilled to see Sideshow tackling Disney with their PF figures. Can’t wait to see what emerges from this new line. Much more interested in seeing animated characters done though than ones from Disney’s live-action canon. Reading all the comments was happy to see at least one shout-out for Treasure Planet with a figure of Silver. Been dying to get some collectibles from this film, and they’re just not out there. I’d kill for a PF of Captain Amelia, but Silver, Jim and Dr. Doppler would all be good too. Of course, as others have suggested, you can’t really go wrong with Jessica Rabbit. And Scrooge McDuck sounds like a fantastic idea! I know a lot of collectors who would be thrilled over Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove. Or how about Milo and Kida from Atlantis. There’s just so many possibilities with Disney.

  10. IJ says:

What of Davy Jones, Undead Barbossa, Jack Sparrow PFs

  11. kate says:

I’d love to see Maleficent, Tink/Peter Pan/Tigerlily, Mulan (hopefully in armor though), Chernabog (Fantasia) or the pegasus or centaurs from Fantasia. In any event, I think it should be something out of the ordinary. Disney has a lot of figures already, and yours (yes, even PF) will get lost in the shuffle if it’s run of the mill. Good for you, Sideshow! I’m excited for this line.

  12. roz says:

I meant to say I want to see the killer looking dragon from Cinderella as a PF!!!

  13. Adam says:

    I would like to see
    Peter pan
    Captain Hook
    Captain Barbossa
    Mad Hatter
Rabbit from alice in wonder land
    Hunchback
    Hunchback Villain
    Hunchback Dame (Exclusive a goat)
    Hunchback soldier
    Simba
    Grown Simba
    Pumba (Exclusive a small timone)
    Herculese
Sadees (Exclusive changable red flamed head)
    Soo many you could do!

  14. Susan says:

    Jareth, Jareth, Jareth! And Hoggle.

  15. Spazzy says:

Would love to see a Jessica Rabbit and maybe if there is time a Roger.
There are some out there, but none that I think captured the true character of the film.

    Beast and Belle
    Hercules and other characters.

Hope this line continues for ALONG time. I would rather get SS stuff then start trying to collect the WDCC.

  16. MHahn says:

A Premium format figure of Tinkerbell!!! Plz!!!

  17. JS in Rochester says:

    Labyrinth and Dark Crystal!
    Now we’re talking!
I doubt that would be the case somehow, but I officially drool over PF Garthim, Jareth or even Jen and Kira. (It’s funny, Sideshow did those really nice Jen and Kira dollies years back and they are still a pretty penny on eBay.)
Dark Crystal, Rocketeer, Captain Nemo, POTC’s Barbossa and company, maybe this will be something special beyond the standard overdone Disney fare.
(They just did a PF Blackbeard, right? Maybe that portents to a clue, says I.)
With all this Disney stuff lately, I think a lot of folks have some kind of Nautilus in mind somehow.

  18. Ginger says:

    Wait a minute…. Doesn’t Disney own the rights to……GARGOYLES!!!
Wait a minute…. Doesn’t Disney own the rights to…..THE MUPPETS!!!
Wait a minute….Doesn’t Disney own the rights to…..LABYRINTH AND DARK CRYSTAL!!!!!!
I think I just got excited about this. My premium Jareth and Sara figures in ball costumes please! Goliath, Brooklyn, Hudson, Lexington, Bronx, premium figures please!!!!

  19. Darth Snoopy says:

Some Disney villians PFs would be great! But I really want to see a PF of The Rocketeer!!

  20. DJ says:

This announcement is getting negative reaction because ppl are getting the wrong idea. People keep saying the reason they collect from SS is because what SS offers no one else makes and Disney collectibles are everywhere at the stoes, blah blah blah. First of all SS doesnt, and shouldn’t, want to limit itself to JUST Sci-Fi, as there are only so many Sci-Fi licenses out there to be able make a never-ending stream of collectibles… but C’mon! Do you think this means that SS would so hastily fall prey to offering meaningless trinkets and mass produced shelf fodder? This new line is going to be stuff you dont see at any Disney store, not Mickeys and Goofys. Thats why its a “Disney PF” announcement and not “Disney”. This means, as is said, Rocketeer, Maleficent, Jessica Rabbit, and POTC, 1/4 scale Premium Format figures. Dont know about anyone else, but I sure havent ever seen those in any Disney store. So relax and take a breath, SS still only offers “not available anywhere else” products, including these.

  21. Alex says:

CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW! CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW!

  22. Santajack says:

Mickey as Steamboat Willie, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Chernabog from Fantasia, Jack Skellington, Hitchhiking Ghosts, Jessica and Roger Rabbit, The Nautilus and Captain Nemo, or even Walt Disney himself. The possibilities are endless for this line.

  23. Mary says:

How about Merlin from The Sword in the Stone? It would be cool to have it next to the GTW Premium Format. Oh, and definitely Malificent!

  24. MonkeyButt says:

PLEASE…………A PREMIUM ROCKETEER with Removable Helmet !!!!

  25. Anthony says:

Well, you asked which characters we want in PF, so my top preference is for animated ones, in this order:

Belle (not sure which dress, so many great ones to choose)
Ariel (I think in full human form, tho with a tail could be interesting)
Beast (hardest to do well and just maybe too hard)
    Jessica Rabbit
    Fantasia Mickey
    Maleficent
That should keep you busy and me broke for a while.

  26. Chris says:

Pixar is now owned by disney so yes if the characters are part of the license then they could be produced.

  27. Mike says:

Just because it’s a Disney license does not imply they can do multi owned characters. Cars / Toy Story / Wall-E are all owned by Pixar and they partner with Disney to distribute and promote the films. I’m not sure if the agreement would allow inclusion in a license like this. Although I would like to see those characters done right, we’ll have to wait and see exactly what types of properties this agreement specifies. Hopefully it’s not just another Pirates of the Carribean line. That one can go away now. :)

  28. Masao says:

This will be great if it means products like the Navigator, Henson Farscape and other characters unusual Disney items.

Tired, previously overdone, characters will be a waste of Sideshow’s resources.

Do we really need Sideshow making more Mickeys?

  29. James says:

Awesome…………Disney villains, villains, villains, and more villains……..please. An electronic Buzz and Wall-E would not be so bad either.

  30. Brian says:

Wall-E and Eve. Those would b nice to see as premium format. The eyes that glow. Sweet.

  31. Lee Dickens says:

Premium Disney done with care equal to the way we care about our favorite Disney characters and memories would be Fantasmic!

  32. MICHAEL OROZCO says:

Wow so much negativity, .With this economy, Im glad its not another beloved sci fi franchise ,done in 12 inch format, I for one cant afford to collect another new line of figures, also I love disney ,especially the current classics, and a premium format woody from toy story with real pull string that plays phases from the film, would be a great collectors piece, and just as good a buzz lightyear with flip helmet and working lights would also be great, . People should relize by expanding their frnchise licenses, and ultimately their collector market, keeps your beloved SSC north americas premiere highend producer of the 12 inch collectors figure model kits, and would make it possible to garner licenses from the classic films like blade runner,, or passion pieces like 12 inch figure lines from the BBC, sherlock holmes, or Bram stokers Dracula (coppolas version). My point is Disneys license carrys a great deal of weight, and like Lucas Films, franchise license, should create a whole new stream of collectors ,so even if you are’nt into disney tell a friend, who may be and let them know how awesome SIDESHOW COLLECTABLES is.

  33. JS in Rochester says:

There’s a lot of folks who really enjoy the history, story and artistry of the whole Narnia thing. That’s something that could be pretty cool, though Weta already did a lot of figurine offerings for the first movie.

  34. John White says:

NOt what I was expecting but Hey I LOVE Disney and have every Hallmark Disney Ornament to date. If your doing Disney Please consider the Villians. How cool would a maleficent PF be say on her throne with the goons around her. Then we could do a Cruella Devil in her car looking Manical, Then an Urusla making her potion with Ariel looking on in fear, I second the Arthur pulling the sword from the stone, The Queen from Snow White on her peacock throne would be amazing, AS would the Dwarves chasing her up the mountainside. Then you could do Gaston Vs the Beast with Bell looking on from the castle window below, Cinderella with her Stepmother looking mean as ever, A London scene with the Darling children flying with Peter Pan and Wendy, The Presentation of Simba from Pride Rock. I guess all those would be polystone Dioramas but man wouldnt they look cool. As far as the PF by themselves Maleficent is about the ultimate villian. Well good luck to you on this line. Also please give us a Chewie, Lando, Yoda, and ewoks 12″ scale figures Thanks so much!!

  35. werdnafaz says:

    anything but narnia!

  36. ray says:

Disney sounds great, but how about a diorama of one of the greatest sci-fi classics “THEM”.

  37. Jim says:

What a set-up…sorry gang…was really hoping for more LOTR 1/6 stuff. Merry, Pip, and most obviously Gimli are much desired to at least complete the fellowship. PF is way out of my budget, and Disney PF is in my “couldn’t care less” column.

  38. JM Nackley says:

Like everything SS produces, I cannot wait to see what this line comes out with.

    Looking forward to 09.

  39. S2b says:

I think it would be the smartest move to start producing PF like Jack Sparrow.

  40. DP says:

Could we be getting Wall-E?? Cars?? UP??

  41. Joe says:

Intriguing! Hope to see properties like Haunted Mansion, Rocketeer, The Nightmare Before Christmas, a “Tink” and some PIXAR or Disney Villains!

  42. JS in Rochester says:

Yeah, the PF’s are really fantastic looking (the Aragorn and some of the Star Wars ones look outstanding), but most of us are regular responsible grown-ups and can’t really swing 250+ a pop regularly, so the 12″ lines are just right.
(Plus 12″ is such a universal scale for collectible figures, right?)
    .
It’s nice to know I’m not the only one wishing this was a Merry & Pippin set announcement, as nice as Disney is. (Or a Saruman with Palantir base or some other rockin’ 12″ LOTR. Gandalf and the Hobbits were so exceptionally done - the photos on this site don’t do them any justice, really up a notch in the likeness and quality department - that us LOTR fans are itchin’ for more, now!)
    .
I hope the Rocketeer folks are right. And it will be fun to see a PF James Mason “Nemo”, though most of us just can’t afford to collect much of the PF stuff as a rule, beautiful as it has all been.

  43. Migster says:

Whoop’d dee doo..We waited for this?? I think I will re-gift your gift to collectors Sideshow. After reading through most of the posts it’s very apparent that most collectors are into your Sci-Fi collectibles. As am I when I first began collecting in the first place. I keep reading “what happened to the Lord of the Rings line?” Did SSC license expire??? And for those that are interested in Disney…You can get tons of memorbilia from any Disneyland or Disney World store. The reason I buy from SSC is because of the fantastic Sci-Fi collectibles they have to offer! And I can’t find that anywhere else! SSC, you should stick to what you do best…Sci-Fi. Leave Mickey & Minnie at Disney.

  44. Skullsplitter says:

Oh,No!! It’s bad enough that I collect Sideshow Star Wars stuff. Now you guys are going to have my wife competing with me for shelf space and finances so she can collect Sideshow Disney items.
No seriously, our house will be in utter pandemonium.

  45. Rach says:

Meh. Disney already has plenty of collectable partners. And the premium formats are way out of my budget. I won’t be buying these items.

  46. Gabriel says:

When I first saw it was Disney, I didn’t care at all. Then someone brought up a good point. The Rocketeer! Yes, please make it happen! And make him flying, it’s gonna be great.

  47. Jennifer says:

I am a hugh haunted mansion fan.. I hope that the hitch hiking ghost will be done… I can wait to see what is offered… very exciting..

  48. dollface says:

This is Xmas not April Fool’s, SS.
You’re joking! You toy with my emotions. While Disney is near and dear to my ticker, I needed something more edgy. You sucked me into the Star Wars line, I started late and missed the first few figures but as you rolled out more, I snagged some faves. I now have quite a few and I’m glad I got ‘em. (Waiting for 12″ Lando!)
When you announced GI JOE- well, Ive been wearing Olive green cargo pants and carrying SWAT and army knives- even if I have to stick ‘em in my pantyhose. Even hoped that I’d get Cobra Commander in time for Xmas. (I’m in the process of planning a few bank robberies to cover the cost of the GI JOE line). I already harbour immense disappointment with the casting choices/costumes of the upcoming GI JOE movie and cannot take another disappointment particularly since the $$$ increases of your 12″ line has already forced me to cut back and be more selective.
Then you give me Disney?!!! I’ll be in the Major Disappointment Aisle if anyone’s looking for me.

  49. Roughneck says:

Well……since it’s disney….and Sideshow does also have a certain other liscense…..I’m really hoping for some Kingdom Hearts PF figures.

  50. Greg says:

Here is what I am hoping to see from SS for Disney Premium Format:

    1. The Incredibles

    2. Kim Possible series

  51. jason says:

I can’t say that I care much for this. Not really a big fan of Disney. I would like to see some other things befor I see Disney stuff. However for people with kids and wanting to get them into collecting it is great.

  52. David says:

Hopefully, The Rocketeer will be the first piece from this new line.

  53. Barry says:

Brilliant news, Premium format, best quality, I cannot wait to see these figures,
You have got to start with Mickey…surely?

  54. LW says:

    Definitely Scrooge McDuck.

  55. marie says:

I’m waiting for Merry and Pippin :o)

  56. Brad says:

I have been hoping for and suggesting a Selene from Underworld for years.

  57. Lily says:

Or, you know, Disney. Typing in near-dark here…

  58. Lily says:

Dismey? Feh. They’re overexposed. I’m still waiting for 12″ Merry and Pippin. And waiting. And waiting. Hobbits! *Four* Hobbits! Not just two.

  59. theropod says:

    Jack Sparrow
    Hector Barbosa
    Elizabeth Swann
    Davey Jones
    Will Turner
    Tia Dalma

    Gimme, gimme, gimme ;)

  60. GreyWolf says:

    Just waiting on the pics!

  61. Velkin says:

I would really enjoy collecting the underworld series…how bout it

  62. Lance Jacobson says:

As a collector of Disney Big Figures I certainly hope you guys do Gaston and more of the villains .more of the princes would be good as well it seems that Disney markets mostly the princess roles from the movies .

  63. pacman says:

How about doing the old time radio characters in the 12″ version, such as: The Shadow, The Spider, Doc Savage, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson and so on and so on…..

  64. Roguebaron says:

Well, I can’t say I’m exstatic, but there are a few disney pieces I wouldn’t mind seeing in the pf format. Unfortunately Disney is so overcommercialized( look at the parade today compared to 15 years ago - then average people went, now only well off or wannabee stars seemed to show up)that It would have to be an extremely unique piece for me to buy it. Pirates would not be on that list for me nor would caspian, robin hood might.we’ll see where tins goes and take it bit by bit and see how it goes.

  65. JimS says:

I’d love some more cowboys and soldiers.

  66. Josh says:

Here’s another call for Scrooge McDuck! I’d love to have him with cloth clothes and tophat, and maybe a cloth money bag. I’d buy him in an instant, and would be sorely tempted by a matching Huey, Dewey and Louie set.

  67. Chris says:

Disney! Wow! Personally, I’d LOVE to see a classic villain such as the Queen from Snow White or Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. Can’t WAIT to see more! Happy Holidays!

  68. Darcie Barnes says:

I’d never buy a Disney character. They seem awfully overdone to me. Plus they come complete with the Disney machine that alters the heart of the stories they tell for commercialism and cuteness.

  69. Louis says:

How about Maximillian, VINcent and BOB, from ‘The Black Hole’?

  70. Steven Margolin says:

Yes, thank goodness, yes! Please start with Narnia. Please, please, please! I’d pay goooooood money, like megabucks, for a PF Susan, especially from Caspian. Also, Wall-e would be awesome, and POTC. But, Narnia first, pleeeeeeeeeease.

  71. bren antrim says:

Disney. Er, I hope it’s profitable. I’m still hoping against hope for Methos in the Highlander line, but I fear that’s dead. With the possible exception of Jack Sparrow, I can’t think of anything from Disney I’d like to buy, and you already have him. Good luck with it!

  72. timrabone says:

    Narnia?

  73. Lori says:

I’m with EVERYONE who wants Merry and Pippin 12″ scale in an affordable format. My personal economy will not stretch to prices for them as exclusives like Professor Henry Jones. (I would have liked to have him.) They have certainly been the forgotten Hobbits and it’s time they were immortalized in plastic!

  74. Sandman says:

    ROCKETEER!

  75. Matt says:

Hey Sideshow. A little ambivalent about this announcement. Great that you’re reaching for new licences and therefore new fans, but I’d like to see you build on existing licences - 007 (will we ever see Daniel Craig’s Bond, Dench’s M, Rosa Krebb, Red Grant or Auric Goldfinger?) and the LOTR trilogy - warriors of man, elf and orc!(now you have the armoured body locked down). Look forward to your offerings during 2009! Happy New Year.

  76. JS in Rochester says:

Okay, that’s true, a PF Barbossa or James Mason as Nemo would be pretty darn dope.

  77. Barry Borras says:

Ah Ha, a mystery. Love it. Dr. Syn ( the Scarecrow ), and Jessica, where are you. Wonder if all of you realize how many movies Disney is behind?

  78. Bernadette Crumb says:

I’m very pleased to see a non-Star Wars based license after a year with an overload of it.

I like the idea of Disney stuff if it’s not the same-old, same-old. Things from the lesser seen movies would be great… a diorama of Wart pulling the Sword from the Stone or Merlin coming back from Bermuda, for instance; or a 12″ from The Black Cauldron would be something I’d be pleased to buy.

What I really want is to complete the 12″ collection of the Fellowship of the Ring. There’s only 3 more of them to go, after all! Please, please, please! Give us Merry, Pippin and Gimli to finish up the set. I’d love to see Arwen, Eowyn, Eomer, Theoden, Denethor, and Saruman would be cool as well, but I’m not going to hold my breath for them.

  79. Alan says:

Classic Mickey in color 1935-1938 Please. Add Donald and Goofy a plus.

  80. Marky Mark says:

OH man….I want DETAILS! We’ll see. This could be really good though, but bad for my checking account! LOL. Hurry up and post some more!

  81. Rosie says:

I would so buy some old school Disney collectibles - why not a Nautilus? Of a Wicked Witch?

  82. Celeste says:

CHEWBACCA Premium Format to go with Han and Leia - plleeeaaassseee!

  83. SEA says:

Always a Disney fan, this is good news to me, but I hope that u wont bother with any movie stuff, just the comics classic Duck family!

  84. Joe says:

Could be interesting. Have to see what the offer. Can’t see myself buying a PF Mickey Mouse.

How about a William Wallace from Braveheart.

  85. Mooncat says:

Not for me Im afraid Im into Sci Fi and TV characters. Hoping SSC gets Hot Toys to do there 1/6th line from now on in 2009

  86. George says:

    Ahem…

    SCROOGE McDUCK!!!!!!

  87. Anonymous says:

a Prince Nuada bust, pretty please…

  88. Keldroc says:

Not earth-shaking, but if SS does a really cool Maleficent (possibly with dragon elements/diorama?), I’ll probably spring for it. Really their best bet is to concentrate on villains, in my opinion.

  89. Cathy says:

Boring. I was hoping for a new 12″ line. Oh well.

  90. Luna says:

I’m *very* disappointed with how few releases LOTR has had. I would buy every one of the 12″ figures -
Please at least finish the Fellowship! Please, please - I need my Merry and Pip!

  91. darthskellington says:

Considering it is a premium format doll, and Disney is the theme, I’d say it is Snow White. Especially considering that is what the picture is of.

  92. Beefy says:

    PF Silver Surfer! Enuff said!

  93. Brian says:

I say runaway brain! I’m sold.

  94. eternal_d says:

I think I’d pick up a few cool ones…but there’s only very very few pieces I’d even consider…and I don’t think SS will pick those right away…

  95. Andy says:

I’m not interested at all. I used to watch all of the Disney animated movies as a kid but these days I prefer Pixar. I got into Sideshow because I like collecting sci fi movie and tv characters, so that’s what I’m here for. Though I can see why Sideshow would pick up this license. It’s a way to expand to a new market of buyers.

  96. Joseph S. Garcia says:

I just saw Tigger jumping around in the background…can you find him???

  97. andre says:

Yeah, just announcing Disney PFs is pretty vague, I mean, c’mon, there’s what, like EIGHTY years worth o’ films? I remember when they used to sell replica window display figures actually made at the Burbank studios at Disneyana, in the Disneyland Park. These were SO much cooler than the big figs from China they sell today.
    Here’s my partial wish list;
    James Mason as Captain Nemo
    Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa
the Wicked Witch from Snow White
…and, of course, Fred MacMurray from ‘Flubber’!

  98. JS in Rochester says:

I’m with Cheeky Kathie, this is nice and all but pretty bummed to have only ONE 12″ Lord of the Rings pre-order this year. (The in-person totally fantastic and worth-the-price Gandalf)
    .
I think the sparse releases all along, two a year, (and the sudden price jump for Hobbits, then Gandalf) have been detrimental to interest in this line to begin with, which is a shame in the end.
(I actually work in toy industry graphics and marketing and my colleagues agree that this is what kept sales down for 12″ LOTR for Sideshow)
    .
Here’s hoping we at least get our Fellowships filled out before the end. And an Arwen and a bad guy would be great.
If the line is over with, a lot of collectors might think twice before investing in a line with a set “complete” group expected.
    .
At the same time, perhaps the marketing folks decided 2008 was the year of the Star Wars because of the Clone Wars stuff, and that 2009 will be the year of the Lord of the Rings, because of impending Hobbitness in theaters. Man, I hope that’s the case.
    .
Disney is fun (I actually work on Disney toys myself through another licensed group), but I agree that there is a ton of Disney out there and for Sideshow’s core fans, this is not something to pee about.
    .
Hey, Merry Christmas anyway to anyone reading this today!

  99. SilentSurfer says:

the Chirstmas newsletter was supposed to be up at noon. Where is it?

  100. Breck Sullivan-Carpenter says:

wow, I can’t wait to see how Sideshow does Disney. Hope it’s a new look!
    Very intriguing…

  101. matt says:

    PUMPKINHEAD DIORAMA!!!!!

  102. FretMunky says:

Horned King (Black Cauldron) , Ratigan (Great Mouse Detective) , Gyro D. Gearloose (DuckTales) … and a 1/1 scale Cheshire Cat !! (Just to name a few)

  103. Vince says:

…oh and Lando from ep6 at Jabba’s crib

  104. Vince says:

    PF Request

    -Jack Sparrow
    -Davy Jones
    -Marty McFly
    -Doc Emmett Brown
    …that’s a start

  105. SilentSurfer says:

Didn’t see that coming. Wait, I meant, I DIDN’T WANT to see that coming. Still, it has potential for mild coolness, though I can’t think of anything I would feel the need to buy from Disney at $270. Maybe Jessica Rabbit. It’s not quite noon yet, so hopefully we’ll actually see who it is. Otherwise that was the greatest build up to the weakest announcement in the history of suspense. Actually it kinda still is no matter who you show. It better not be the Snow White you used to make Elvira (as I was told by an anonymous staff member). If Snow White shows up in the same pose as Elvira, I’m cancelling Elvira because I will always see Snow White in an Elvira costume holding a bat.

  106. ShawnD. says:

WOW! What a let down! No wait, this is good. I’ll save money! Maybe this is truly the best present you can give.

  107. swtrilogy says:

More info would have been nice. Otherwise not very exciting. I logged on to just see this?

  108. sylar says:

a jessica rabbit would be cool, hopefully it won’t be more of mickey mouse stuff.i had all i can take from the rodent.

  109. Rhino says:

So based on your background scene, your 1st statue is going to be Bambi’s dead mother, mid-shot?

    Whoa Sideshow…

  110. charlie says:

If you look at all the Disney movies then the line could have limitless possibillites

  111. brett says:

    two words - Buzz Lightyear!!!!

  112. The Ween says:

    If it’s not Jack Sparrow……not interested. :(

  113. Kathie Cheek says:

Not what I was expecting and really now what I was hoping for. I’m still waiting on Merry and Pippin and Gimli. Oh, well. You can’t win them all. I do hope you plan to finish the LOTR Fellowship but now with this news I feel it is far less likely that the LOTR set will continue. Since most Disney characters are already out there for purchase in some form I don’t see the point. I can only hope that at some point when The Hobbit is released that we might get Bilbo, not Ian Holm as Bilbo but at least Bilbo.
    Disappointed.

  114. DJ says:

Good point, however in the scheme of things there are VERY few PFs from SS that turn out to be a hard sell. Plus I think its a safe bet that Disney PFs will kick those “big” figures asses with ease anyway!

  115. Jose says:

surprising announcement. Correct me if I’m wrong but don’t Disney parks already sell “big” figures in their galleries for about 150-175$? If the PF price holds 250-350$ these might be a hard sell.

  116. sideshowfreak says:

Jack Skellington Premium Format PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Sideshow! :)

  117. Michael says:

This is Awesome! Jessica Rabbit, Rocketeer, Davy Jones, Silver(from Treasure Planet), Hades, and Sully(with real fur) Please!!!

  118. Anthony says:

O’ yeah baby, Disney PF’s where one of the things on the top of my list of wants. We are talking animated characters here, right? And in theory feature films, if so, Belle and Ariel are an instance purchase. With no doubt a few others, this is going to hurt my bank balance again.

  119. Rogue says:

Here’s hoping for a Tinker Bell!

  120. Patrick says:

    All guessed wrongly… it’s Disney! =D

  121. DP says:

    Jack Sparrow PF……hmmmmmm……

  122. Philbo Baggins says:

Well I am suprised and although I would have liked to see Ghostbusters I am not at all dissappointed. I love Disney and used to work in Animation. I don’t know that this will recieve a warm welcome from everyone but Disney has a vast array of characters and styles. I for one am looking forward to seeing some of these classic characters in PF style. Fantasia anything, Runaway Brain, Aladdin, Lion King, Goofy, Donald Duck. Very excited.

  123. erik says:

was hoping for a new addition to the Indy PF line. Though, there may be some interesting possibilities here. Jack Sparrow perhaps?

  124. SilentSurfer says:

Damn, this is the longest wait in Sideshow history. This is killing me. What are you going to reveal on my birthday? I don’t have to wait until 6pm, do I?

  125. The Ween says:

I have a feeling it’s the Planet of the Apes HT figures.

I’d rather have Gimli or more Hobbitses.

  126. Con says:

The Rock as the Scorpion King from Mummy Returns (Premium format) with exclusive accessory alternate hand with half bitten scorpion!!! :P
I have to admit i was excited when the mummy liceense was announced but was then then a little disappointed that it was just 2 artifact replicas and no statues :(

or how bout a Han Stormtrooper PF, have never seen an actual good SW Han Stormtrooper figure or statue.

Again though, i really have tp put forward the heath Ledger Joker PF idea, that would be sooo cool.

  127. JS in Rochester says:

    I KNOW WHAT IT IS!!!
IT HAS TO BE A PREMIUM FORMAT SERIES OF TORGO FROM MANOS:HANDS OF FATE!
    .
    IT MUST BE!!!!!
(Though I would settle for 12″ Merry and Pippin)

  128. victorc73 says:

    premium format figures:
    imperial guard
    stromtrooper
    ig-88
    gamorrean guard
    grand moff tarkin
    lancelot in armour
    tom cruise in samurai disguise
    thanos
    classic juggernaut
    rhino
    silver surfer

  129. JS in Rochester says:

I voted for RoboCain, but Obocop won.

  130. Darth Snoopy says:

A new Star Trek license would rock! However I’d reeeeally like to see a LOTR 12″ Gimli.

  131. Shane Tremper says:

    Robocain maquette maybe?

  132. jimmy says:

TRANSFORMERS, maybe original megatron pistol with scope and rifle stock!

  133. JS in Rochester says:

As sad as it would be to have yet another season go by without a LOTR 12″ pre-order, I have a feeling it just might be what bkckaddr said with a Star Trek license for the new film.
That is something Christmas-announcement worthy and the timing would be just right.

  134. Avfin says:

    Gotta be a Mort plushie

  135. Migster says:

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Hot Toys recently announced the new license of “Predator 1.” SSC already has the the Predator 2 license! There you go!!! Finally after years of waiting we will finally see the Original Predator along with “Dutch” or “Billy!!!” YES!!!

  136. bkckaddr says:

Give me a Patrick McGoohan figure from the Prisoner, so I can die happy. Maybe a TOS Star Trek lisence to coincide with the new movie…

  137. The Ween says:

Though I would love to see Merry, Pippin or Gimli, I think if SS wants to put some umph in the LotR 1/6 line, they’d do a baddie. But I don’t care, just give me more LotR!!!

  138. redEyes says:

More G.I.Joe please….looking forward to have Duke

  139. Kev says:

OK,Sideshow. I know the 2009 calender shows a New Dead Figure, and or PF Dead Figure. Cannot really tell from the photo, and am hoping to obtain the calender soon with one of my orders. I have been a Huge fan of The Dead since its Release and have all the Figures to date. I am just curious of one thing. Why is there a second chance for the “Street Prophet-Exclusive” as was sold out in July? Why havent the Spooktacular Editions of The Babysitter, and Tactical Commander still in stock? Also,as Cool as “The Harbiger” is, why are Both The Exclusive Edition, and Reg.Version still in Stock? Are The Dead becoming Dead? Is there no more Interest in Zombies? And if there is a Lack of Interest why would you release another piece? Just curious,as I would hate to see a discontinuation of this line.

  140. ShawnD. says:

I hope it’s something else I can spend my money on! No more Star Wars for a while please. My wallet can’t take another hit from that “over priced” line. Doesn’t George Lucas have enough money anyways?…………

  141. astro666 says:

The holiday reveal video is just a box wrapped in silver paper opening to reveal that there are only so many more days to the actual announcement. I think it is going to be the announcement of the “Patient Zero” PF. But I secretly hope it’s something that’s maybe even cooler then all the stuff that has been mentioned on here so far, that way I can be so surprised that maybe I will even pee myself just a little bit, LOL.

  142. JS in Rochester says:

I was thinking and there is one other announcement that would soften the blow of “still no Merry and Pippin” and that would be an announcement of the Princess Bride license. NECA is doing it and, like Fifth Element, it’s this modern classic that EVERYONE loves that never got cool figures or 12″ dollies.
    .
But I still just hope it’s Merry and Pippin 12″. (The last LOTR 12″ preorder was Gandalf back in February. I need my fix, man!!)

  143. jbinny says:

    Quit teasing us, Sideshow.

We all know the suprise is just a “santa’s elf” PF aka the Moria Orc.

  144. Robb B. says:

If the surprise DOES turn out to be a Hot Toys Predator 1 line, that would be PHENOMENAL. But if that, in fact, does come to pass … well … I’m just going to slump into a corner and weep silently into a pillow for a good long while.
    .
Because I just won’t be able to afford them. Not with all the other lines I’m collecting. And that will break my little heart. Because I’ve wanted figures from that movie for years! Damn!
    .
For me, the problem is Hot Toys doesn’t really stagger their releases. And all the Dark Knight figures, for instance, are about to CRUSH me! I’m scrambling to line up my finances so I can afford all three figures they’re releasing in January. At $175 per, that’s more than $550 with shipping! (And just FORGET about the AWESOMELY COOL, but WAAAAAY beyond my budget 1:6 vehicles!)
    .
But I’m not complaining! On the contrary … this is a GREAT time to be a geek! It’s an embarassment of riches! There’s too much coolness to choose from!
    .
Oh, to have an unlimited budget AND unlimited display space!

  145. Robb B. says:

Yeah, I’m having the same problems with the Flash player, SilentSurfer. At first I thought it was just because I was looking at the site from my work computer (which has lots and lots of security filters), but when I checked it from home on my other computers, it was the same deal — half-bulbs at the top, squat pine trees at the bottom. But after thinking about it, now I’m inclined to believe that the reason there’s nothing there is because they haven’t posted any video yet. But they’ve left the space for it. I’m guessing the video will be added Christmas day. And in the meantime, there’s nothing but an empty space. Seems plausible to me …
    .
Unless everybody else is enjoying a cool video that, for technical reasons, I’m not able to see! If that’s true … nobody tell me! I don’t want to feel left out!

  146. Con says:

Jessica Alba as Max from Dark Angel Premium Format would be cool.

How about another set of 4 PF’s for the music line of Motley Crue similar to the KISS PF’s.

    Something different.

  147. SilentSurfer says:

Is anybody else having problems with that damn Flash 9 Player? I keep clicking the link and doing the install, it tells me instalation was successful, and still no movie thing on this page for me. WTF!

  148. HAPPYBOY says:

Hehe, not that I don’t just love Nash’s idea….but I am placing my money on the Patient Zero PF being the answer. :D

  149. Evan Benn says:

I think it’s a Wolverine/Dead Pool action figures for the future release of Wolverine the Movie for 2009, Ha!

  150. Alex says:

    PREMIUM FORMAT ALL THE WAY!
    -LUKE HOTH LIGHT UP SABER
    -LUKE BESPIN LIGHT UP SABER
-HAN SOLO WITH NEW HEAD SCULPT
    -MACE WINDU LIGHT UP SABER
    -DARTH SIDIOUS LIGHT UP SABER
-X FILES MULDER AND SCULLY PF’S
    -DARK KNIGHT JOKER(HEATH LEDGER)PF
    -JACK SPARROW PF
    -THE SCORPION KING(MUMMY RETURNS)PF

THERES SOME GREAT IDEAS THERE! :)

  151. AVP fan says:

Hot Toys Predator 1, baby! Hot Toys newsletter teased a Christmas announcement for three figures from Predator 1 including the Predator. Sorry LOTR fans!

  152. Hot Toys says:

Ha Ha! I think I know what it is. A Hot Toys insider on a 1/6 forum said they are planning a Predator 1 announcement to include three figures: Dutch, Billy, and the Predator.

  153. JS in Rochester says:

One thing that would keep a “non-LOTR announcement” from being overly disappointing would be a 12″ Fifth Element announcement!!!! (Maybe Sideshow or Hot Toys will see at some point the value in providing so many fans with cool figures from that sci-fi modern classic!)

  154. JS in Rochester says:

It seems the fans have spoken, so to speak.
    .
Here’s hoping we get to complete the 12″ Lord of the Rings Fellowship by Sideshow.
    .
And here’s hoping the Crimmus announcement is exactly that!

  155. Anonymous says:

Continuing the 1/6 LOTR line would definitely be a holiday wish come true. But I’m certain that this will not happen.

  156. Kathie says:

LOTR, please? Merry and Pippin! I need to complete my collection of Hobbits and my Fellowship. Merry and Pippin always wind up either getting left off of action figure lines or being made last. I say make them next and let the dwarf go last this once! Come on, you know you want to. You could make them in their Fellowship clothing and then include their Rohan and Gondorian uniforms in the pre-order! COme on…

  157. Jenn says:

I would LOVE to see another LOTR 12″ figure revealed. How about Gimli next? Or Merry/Pippin? That would be awesome.
And I don’t mind at ALL if there is a long wait in between LOTR releases - it gives me a chance to pay everything off! Especially with the prices of these collectibles (which of course reflects the high quality of work), I seriously appreciate any extra time to be able to afford the majority of SS LOTR products. As long as SS keeps the line alive, then it is well worth the wait. If products are being released too rapidly there is probably a higher chance that people will not be able to afford them all. If you are a true collector your interest will not die down.
It will also be exciting too see what happens when the Hobbit is released!
As for the possibility of a new license, I hope it’s Harry Potter!

  158. patman says:

Hulk movie PF to go with the recently announced Abomination PF. An Iron Man Mark III comiquette as well

  159. Len says:

I have to throw in my support for a new 12″ LOTR figure! Although the consensus is that the line is dead, I think a Ringwraith, Sauron, or an armored elf from the battle at Helm’s Deep would be an awesome Christmas present!

  160. Jason *007 freak* says:

    A DANIEL CRAIG/VESPER LYND FIGURINE!!!

  161. JS in Rochester says:

Hey, on the LOTR wish list topic, I agree with Robb’s extended list.
    While we’re wishing..

    -Lothlorien Haldir
-Elrond in Prologue Armor (to go with what would be a fantastic Prologue Elf as suggested)
    -Easterling!
    .
Here’s hoping this rich and popular trilogy is done further justice by the Sideshow crew at some point.
At least the rest of the Fellowship.

  162. tonymills says:

A new Star Wars P/F Stormtrooper, Lando(ESB) R2D2&C3PO Solo in Hoth gear, Or a new LOTR P/F Gimili, Ringwraith on Horse(Yes i want a Premium format ringwraith on a horse), Gandalf the Grey, Golum

  163. Silent Surfer says:

I’m go out on a “limb” and guess that it’s going to be a man eating ‘Audrey II’ plant form Little Shop of Horros.

  164. Nathan Eakins says:

Give up on the DC stuff guys. DC Direct owns the U.S. distribution license because DC wasn’t smart enough back in the day to keep that option open to multiple toy producers. Why do you think Sideshow is all over Marvel, but not a peep from DC as far as figures go.

As for LOTR, I for one will be disappointed if it’s another LOTR figure even though I feel for those collectors. Sideshow did the same thing to us Buffy fans. I hope the Star Wars line doesn’t die before we’ve been satisfied there, too.

My hope this Christmas is my holy grail figure, Aliens Alien Warrior maquette to go with my Predator Maquette. If I’m right, I hope it isn’t NOT in some weird pose like the Alien 3 or in some “visually interesting” leaning pose like some many of the PF figures do.

  165. Codeman says:

Batman Dark Knight &/or Joker (Heath Ledger)in PF form would be awsome!

  166. Franco says:

    Star Wars premium format C3PO,R2D2,Chewbecca,Palpatine.
    Thanks

  167. Tazmash says:

Ditto on the DC license DSET. Would also like to have Marvel 12″ figures.

  168. Michael says:

I am gonna go with what everyone else is saying. I have tons of star wars 12 inches.. and every LOTR’s 12 inch. But if you guys abandon the LOTR line, it will really scare a lot of us off from future purchases. To spend as much as we have on the released ones, and then not complete the few left we NEED.. well, it would be akin to an economic crisis for my lord of the rings ego! lol

Seriously, the last three have been amazing. I understand if merry and pip have to come later, even gimli. if you need to put out villains, do saruman, do ringwraiths. I can handle that. As long as i can have faith that merry and pip and gimli are on their way eventually. But seriously, i’m scared here!

  169. John White says:

What would be AWESOMe is a lifesize Darth Vader if nothing more than his Bust with a removable helment. How awesome would that be??? Also a Max Rebo band set for Jabba or a three pack of his dancers Maybe an OOLa or Gargon. LOVE the Star Wars line. The LOTR set is awesome too and I eventually would like to get into them but between Hasbro and Sideshows Star Wars Offerings and NECA’s Harry Potter I’m kind of spent out.

If its a New License the Harry Potter Series would be AMAZING with Sideshows quality and attention to detail. Was blessed enough to win a Life Size Emperor Palpatine bust recently from the site and OMG what a company its beautiful!! Really Fulfilled my Christmas Wish!!! Thanks again Oh Mistress of the Web. Ki Adi Mundi is shipped so a new figure next week in the mail :>

  170. DSET says:

    DC liscense :D

  171. Kevin Krane says:

Robb B. has said it for me. I’d like to add that I would sell the majority of my Star Wars figures to pay for ANY villains from LOTR’s. Seriously, the potential this line has has already been shown in its past few releases - the time taken on each character is obvious, so if quality takes this long, that’s fine - but not if you folks at SS are carefully considering who to actually do and who to leave out - we’re kinda’ left in the dark about any plans you guys may or may not have for the line. Maybe you’re not sure yourselves…

  172. Breck says:

I’m with the other LOTR fans .. More, more, more!
I want 12″ of ALL them LOTR goodness.. Just bring it ..:>

  173. Robb B. says:

    Hiya JS,
    .
I second your figure choices! Excellent picks.
    .
In a perfect world, I’d also love to see:
    .
    –Theoden (armored)
    –Eomer (armored)
    –a Moria or Mordor Orc
–a generic Nazgul or the Witch King
    –a Prologue Elf warrior
    –Arwen (Riding outfit)
    –Aragorn (ROTK king battle outfit)
    –GOLLUM!
    .
And I know this last one is a pie-in-the-sky dream, but if they can scale the hobbit bodies DOWN, they ought to be able to scale them UP, too. Right? Anyhow, here goes …
    .
–Prologue SAURON! He’d be almost two feet tall! And that would be just about the coolest thing I can imagine!
    .
Oh well … it’ll never happen, but dare to dream, eh?

  174. JS in Rochester says:

LOTR wish list, if that line is not going on much longer…
    .
    Merry & Pippin
    Gimli
    Arwen
    Saruman
    Generic Uruk Hai

  175. JS in Rochester says:

Hey Robb B., I think you nailed it with the only two figures a year and about nine months wait after pre-order really cooled collector enthusiasm more and more from the get go.
    .
You’re right, the Hobbits and Gandalf are the most beautifully done figures Sidehow has really ever produced in that scale.
    .
Plus with drastic and relatively sudden price increases, collectors felt forced to choose between the LOTR and Star Wars and went for the more populated line and currently popular choice.
    .
Here’s hoping that as The Hobbit film creates more and more buzz, sales numbers justify more LOTR 12″ coming out.
    .
And I still don’t understand why the photos of the Hobbits on the site look so plasticky when the actual delivered figures look so realistic and right on.
    Same with Indy.
    .
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that they at least finish up the Fellowship.
(I can’t imagine the slew of Buffy figures over the years were as lucrative as the LOTR line, yet they kept them coming for a good while, for example.)

  176. tomandshell says:

I’m expecting a new property/license announcement to be revealed, not a new product/figure in an existing line.

  177. Robb B. says:

Yeah, I’m with you, JS. More LOTR 12″ figures! Please! I’m begging, here!

I’ve been deeply saddened by the slow-down in that line. If it was up to me, I’d shell out the bucks to buy a new figure every month. Happily!

But sadly, it’s not up to me. It’s up to Sideshow … and they’re trying to run a business. I’m sad, but I understand.

You’re right … I think it’s a function of basic (albeit cruel) arithmetic. The 1/6 LOTR line just hasn’t sold very well. Just look at the edition sizes. After Aragorn and Legolas, they get smaller and smaller. And even with the smaller edition sizes, they often don’t sell out for months. Heck, there are STILL exclusive Frodos and Sams available! Which boggles my mind, considering how stunning those figures are. (They’re even still available after being added to the Gift Card eligible list! Crazy!)

And they’re actually looking better and better as they go along. Gandalf, in my opinion, is the best yet. It really is a travesty that more people aren’t going nuts for these figures. And I wish I could fathom the reasons behind it.

Are we too far removed now from the old trilogy but not yet close enough to the new films?

Have LOTR collectors glutted themselves and filled all their available shelf space with other Sideshow products?

Is Sideshow’s deliberate pacing of the line (and LONG waits between order and delivery) cooling collector enthusiasm?

Or are LOTR fans just not as into collecting as, say Star Wars fans?

(Well, maybe there’s something to that last one … considering LOTR fans aren’t buying FRODO and GANDALF figures while SW can sell out 5000 copies of characters who walk through the background or only have a line or two!)

Anyhow, frustrations aside, I REALLY hope that Sideshow isn’t pulling the plug on this line. I’d desperately love to see the Fellowship completed, and then see the line expand into some bad guys and … most especially … some ARMORED figures. Sideshow’s got the new armored body now, after all. Who wouldn’t want to see an armored Theoden or Eomer or even Eowyn! Or an armored elf? Some Orcs? God, you could go on forever. There are limitless possibilities, really. And it would be a crying shame if we never even get to scratch the surface.

So if anybody’s reading this who doesn’t own any LOTR 12″ figures … START BUYING THEM! You won’t regret it!

  178. JS in Rochester says:

I’m surprised they’ve only used those small bodies twice in a year and a half. Maybe the Christmas surprise will be Short Round!!!
(Though a Short Round instead of Merry and Pippin would cause a great weeping and gnashing of teeth.)

  179. bigredfan says:

I agree a nice a Gimli would round out the collection very nicely. If not can always release some more 12″ Hellboy’s

  180. Tango78 says:

    Indiana Jones Dioramas maybe:-)

  181. Rich says:

Chewbacca! Chewie! What a Wookie! PF! …or maybe Mara Jade 12″?! Please…!??!

  182. ken says:

expanded universe 12 inch star wars. like qunlin vos or how about tales of the jedi ulic quel droma

  183. Austin says:

Maybe a Luminara unduli, Maris brood, or Bulter swan from Starwars….. One can hope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  184. The Ween says:

Still holiding out for more LotR 1/6 figures!

  185. JS in Rochester says:

Yeah, that’s true with LOTR. At the same time, though, that particular line is one you’d expect to be “completed” with at least the Fellowship characters remaining, for the loyal customers who have supported the line and have empty spaces on our shelf reserved for a Dwarf and two Hobbits.
And an Arwen would be the perfect way to end the line, if it’s to end after all. What a shame that would be after how excellent Sam, Frodo and Gandalf turned out.
    .
I think the whole Clone Wars thing has kept the Star Wars fan fires burning brighter, but LOTR interest will come right back into play in the next year or so. There are still LOTR items on eBay being fiercely bid over. Stuff that came out seven years ago.
    .
I think this line would have seen much better sales if they had kept interest alive with more frequent offerings and more vibrant and specifically directed marketing (and a more gradual, less “sudden” price point increase).
Lord knows there are generations of diehard Rings fans out there that might not even know about these figures.
    .
Bummer for those of us who have been collecting them all along if the line dies before running at least the anticipated Fellowship course.
    .
Here’s hoping that big announcement is an accessory-laden Merry and Pippin 12″ scale set, or Saruman with the Palantir and base, and not Pulp Fiction Bobbleheads or something.
    .
Variety is fun, but so is collecting a complete-ish series of popular character figures from your favorite movies.
(It would be like Kenner in 1978 opting NOT to produce the Chewbacca, Princess Leia and R2-D2 characters after all. There would have been rioting children in the streets, waving their lonely Kenner Lukes, Hans and Threepios!)
    .
Here’s hoping Hobbit fever drains our wallets in the coming year with Sideshow offerings of new and amazing 12″ figures.

  186. Dave Mac (Silsden) says:

As with Black and White Friday I think it’s best not to build my hopes up for LOTR stuff. SS have shown that you can’t please everybody but they can keep everybody quessing and glued to their monitors! Variety is the spice of life and WHAT a variety. Keep us wanting SS (but not TOO much!)

  187. RESIN1 says:

Life size Gremlin! That would be a surprise, as you would have to get the license first! PLEASE?

  188. Edison says:

    The Dead Premium Format

  189. jungle jom says:

I see a lone pine and twin pines…

    “Back to the Future” anyone?

  190. JS in Rochester says:

In hoping for some LOTR 12″ goodness, the LOTR line really went up a level with the Sam, Frodo and Gandalf and it would be such a shame to not see at least the Fellowship finished out, just when this line went from great to amazing.
(The photos on the site don’t do any justice to how excellent these figures are in person, so to speak.)
    .
I keep hoping there is a bunch of new 12″ LOTR in development but every big event comes up and no new announcements.
    .
I was so sure that Black and White Friday was going to be a Saruman announcement.
    .
I work in the toy industry (graphics and marketing and such) and it’s my suspicion that the Star Wars line just plain saw better sales and so got more attention. That, and you’ll notice there are a lot more Hot Toys product distributions, as opposed to original Sideshow creations, lately.
    .
At the same time, there is a gigantic LOTR fan base out there that maybe got bored with the line with only two figures a year.
    .
Unfortunately, Sideshow is a business first and foremost and if the lack of attention to the line resulted in lower interest/sales, that would be a shame.
    .
It might also make folks less interested in collecting a whole line of figures in the future, if a line is abandoned partway through a specific set of main characters.
    .
It seems like Sideshow has invested in putting out other not-as-popular-as-LOTR stuff (Blackbeard Premium Format, for example.) That leads me to the suspicion that the Premium Format lines get a greater time/money return on investment for them.
    .
You figure, a less articulated PF figure with the same amount of clothing and less accessory tooling costs than 12″ gets them three times as much money for being just a few inches taller.
    .
Sideshow is obviously a very collector-minded company, so here’s hoping they “do justice” to the 12″ LOTR fans. I also hope their production gang realizes that 12″ is a great and popular standard figure scale across the board and the current economy makes a 12″ figure more appealing, too, price-wise.
    .
(I had actually given up on years of collecting 12″ figures after Hasbro’s Star Wars got lamer and lamer and the existing LOTR 12″ were just miserable, but then Sideshow announced their license with Aragorn and then Legolas, etc. and I have been hooked since, also giving in and collecting some of their Star Wars, Indy and others. I even bought the Davy Jones and preordered the Mark 1 Iron Man through them by Hot Toys.)
    .
So I hope the excellent line of LOTR figures that got me back into collecting at least gives us the Fellowship remainders (Merry, Pippin, Gimli), Arwen and some bad guys before the line is done.
If not, the major disappointment and let-down will definitely be a factor in my future 12″ figure purchases in general.
