All thigs being equal,this is a beautiful piece and the stand is a great bonus.

This is a great looking Indy Idol!!! Surpassed what I was hoping for by miles. Not sure what it’s made of but it’s heavy and even feels as if it were metal. GREAT JOB, SSC!!!!!!!

Love that you’re duin this one but please. Please fix some of the things mentioned by several fans already. I’ll snatch one up in a heartbeat if you do that fix. Plenty of images of the original prop from the movie. You’re a cut above the rest. Make that plunge and do this one 100% right not just partially. I do like that you’r adding the base. That makes it uber cool in my book. All in all it does look good.

A great start for sideshow to make all these wonderfull Indiana Jones replica props lifesize

This collectible is a replica of the Fertility Idol seen at The Lucasfilm Archive book not the film. It has the same mouth and the same small ears. Still, a great artifact for any collector. I like the shiny finish a lot. Too bad the moderatos erased my initial comment:(

However, please, as a long-time fan of Raiders, I (along with others) ask you to please use the Fertility Idol as reference for your replica that we all saw on the pedestal in the temple. It has some very obvious differences than the one you are previewing. Please re-evaluate what you have come up with and we, as fans urge you to take another look at the other Idols for reference. It is a very important piece in the prop world and Indiana Jones collecting. Please make this successful so there will be more Indy prop replicas! We need a Grail and a Medallion(headpiece) and the Cross of Coranado and the tablet and shield and on and on and on…Thank you, Sideshow! Thanks for listening!

I never understood why Indy thought his bag of sand weighed anything like the idol, and he took a handful out! Plus, if the bag of sand was lighter and the pedestal was pressure sensitive shouldn’t it have moved up instead of sinking down!? Anyway, I’m very excited to see this item as it has long been a hope to own a worthwhile replica. If I have an immediate reaction to the photo it’s that it’s a bit too shiny and just needs the edge taking off it by being slightly duller. I’m ordering one no matter what though. Here’s hoping we’ll see the Staff of Ra headpiece offered soon too

I totally agree with Biff! Changing the mouth would make this a great and “rare” piece to any Indy collection. Another AMAZING addition would be to have the “REAL” looking eyes instead of leaving the eyes molded gold with the rest of the head. I’m not asking to have moving eyes, I would just like to see this piece be as close as possible to the original piece! Please, please, please Sideshow!! You would make the true fans very happy!!

I’m very glad to see Sideshow getting into the prop arena, especially props from Raiders of the Lost Ark. I will ask though that you look over the resource material again. When doing so you will notice that none of the Fertility Idols used in the film have a mouth that frowns. You will notice that almost all versions that regularly sell on Ebay have this feature and it is incorrect, which is why Ebay is constantly flooded with them. The two Idols I have seen sitting in the Lucasfilm Archives don’t have the frowning feature either. I’m curious if you had access to an original or not? The original Idols were at one time in bad shape and had to be repaired back in the early 1990′s by LFL Archivists and the frowning mouth may have been one of these repairs, one which was not present on the originals but added much later. Sideshow…PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE go back and look over your research material. None of the Idols in the film have this frowned mouth feature. Just look for yourselves. It would be so nice to see this feature corrected instead of looked over which is so often the case of so many requests to you for an increase in accuracy to your products. PLEASE do whats right and fix this problem. I can’t imagine it being that hard to fix before going into production. I’m sure many eager fans would be willing to help you with any resourse material you may need that isn’t provided by LFL. So many of your Indy products have just missed the mark of perfection. Please don’t let this product fall into that category and allow your Idol to fall into the catelgory with all the other mediocre Ebay Idols. Please do it right.
