Your Questions Answered – 12/03/09

I was wondering if you had any more plans for some villainous Legendary Scale Busts, like say the Red Skull or Loki, to go along with the Captain America and Thor LSBs?

Yes and yes to your nominations.

The Iron Man Comiquette is awesome! I’m wondering if a Iron Man Comiquette with his stars and stripes armor is in the plans for the future?

Whether you mean from the now-classic ‘What If’ cover or from Osbourne’s armor in Dark Avengers, the answer is likely yes. More likely the DA version, but we’d like to bring a distinctly… patriotic… Iron Man to life in due time.

I have a lot of statues made by different companies but none have been drooled over more than my Sidehow items. Do you feel there is a deeply hidden (but obvious) competetion between you and the other brands out there? P.S I hope There is a Gambit statue soon!

If there’s competition, it’s a very healthy one. We’re constantly inspired by the talent and ingenuity of our friends and fellow manufacturers in the industry, and we greatly enjoy the number of very gifted artists that have emerged. Thank you very much for the kind words, and please know that while proud, there’s a very humble group at Sideshow that enjoys the positive feedback. Yes, you are certainly getting your wish for Gambit!

I would love to see a Peter Parker vs Symbiote diorama. Have Peter struggling with the Venom slime in a bell tower scene or something.

Duly noted, and similar ideas have been discussed at Sideshow.

The Hulkbuster Iron Man looks great. Any chance of me getting him battling the Hulk in a diorama soon?

You can certainly pit your Hulkbuster Iron Man Comiquette against the Hulk PF, and likely the forthcoming Hulk Comiquette. We do have plans for Hulk in Diorama form, but none that have him facing off against the Hulkbuster armor. Yet.

Sideshow’s Venom bust and comiquette are amazing. I’m wondering will we see the Scorpion Venom in comiquette form and a bust too? I’m also wondering if we will ever see a Venom Premium Format Figure?

Scorpion Venom is on our radar but not yet a part of our line list. Venom in classic symbiote fashion is a tough character to interpret in Premium Format, but it could be accomplished if Eddie Brock were more of the focus than Venom himself. Just blue-skying here, not hinting so much, but please feel free to share your thoughts and ideas.

With the Clone Wars Series 2 on Cartoon Network… are you guys planning or hopefully in the process for a 12-inch (or even bigger) Cad Bane figure…. how about Bossk, or the assassin droids (IG 88′s)?

We’re closely watching Cad Bane, and Bossk’s reappearance has pushed his name up the list considerably for 12″ figure production. We’re also evaluating the assassin droids, primarily IG-88.

Will your Star Wars line have any, um, 1:6 scale “remakes”? With the new Prometheus body, and better quality, there is room for improvement on some of your earliest figures. I for one would like to see a new Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker. I currently own both yours and Medicom’s version, and I want just one more version to take the cake!

Yes. With the newer body options, with our evolved style, and with all that we’ve learned over the course of the line, we do feel that there are several characters worth returning to. We’re not actively involved in any re-do development, but it is something that we expect to do.

I have all of Sideshow’s Star Wars Premium Format Figures! I love your work on this license! But an essential character in the 1/4 scale is missing. When shall have we a preview of Obi-Wan Kenobi “Revenge of the Sith” Premium Format? The association with magnificent your Anakin Skywalker would be excellent! I eagerly await your answer. Thank you very much!

Obi-Wan from ROTS has been discussed many times and is very high on our list of candidates. He’s not currently in development, but it’s really just a matter of when, not if.

In a recent Toyfare magazine, there’s a page that shows some of what Sideshow has in the works. On that page there is a few photos of a model of C-3P0. Is that a 1/6 scale or Premium Format? i hope its a 1/6 scale. Photos show different poses, so I’m thinking 1/6. If so, it looks awesome!

The images shown in the Toy Fare article are of the upcoming 1:4 scale C-3PO, which is a really tremendous engineering feat. The piece will also serve to inform our 1:6 scale C-3PO, as some of the development work does overlap.

Will you make more pieces from Starcraft? My Tychus Findlay is starting to get lonely.

Yes, we continue to look at Blizzard titles for product opportunities. At the moment, we’re more likely to attack Warcraft than Starcraft, but who knows what may come in the future. Did you have any specific ideas in mind?

Is there any chance – any chance at all! – that we will see horse and rider Premium Format sets or large creature PF’s (like the Balrog or Cave Troll) in the LOTR line?

Yes, there is a chance that you might see horse and rider combinations appear within the Premium Format line, but it’s very unlikely that you would see the Balrog represented within the Premium Format line.

What are the chances for a Premium Format Arwen statue??

Quite good. Arwen has appeared in several concepts, including diorama form, and is very likely to make an appearance sooner than later.

Please let me know when the life-size Terminator model (not the battle-damaged one, nor the half scale or smaller, only the real thing) is available for purchase.

Duly noted.

Can you tell us how many 12-inch G.I. Joe figures we will see in 2010? Also, will we see Zartan and his Drednoks in 2010? I love Sideshow’s G.I. Joe 12-inch line! All have been perfect, and I cannot wait for the next one to be announced! I would love to see a hooded Storm Shadow.

The Joe line has been a big hit, and we are looking to increase the number of Joe & Cobra releases in 2010 and 2011. We can’t say exactly how many will see release in 2010, but the number is likely to be six or more. Zartan is in development but is several figures down the road in release order planning.

I’ve always been a huge fan of the Child’s Play movies. I’m fascinated by the “good guys” and Chucky himself. Last year, you released the Seed of Chucky live-size figure, which is awesome! I love the details, the blood, etc. Are there plans in the near future for producing a life-size Chucky or a life-size “good guy” with has the same excellent quality and details as your 1:1 Seed of Chucky?

Yes, we are actively looking into development of a new life-size Chucky figure. It’s too early to confirm, but it is possible for late 2010 or 2011.

Love the Dinosauria line! I’m really wishing to see some aquatic dinos! Perhaps a Plesiosaur! To make it even more mind-numbingly cool, perhaps a diorama VS another Sea Dino?

Yes, we’re definitely thinking alike! Winged dinos too!

Any chance of some World War II soldier statues in the future? I think this would be a great line and would be very popular among fans.

Yes, we are actively engaged in development of Premium Format World War II figures.

Thank you all for submitting such intriguing questions. Keep watching our Production Blog and listening to our Podcasts as we continue to answer more Ask Sideshow questions in the future!

Suggestions for Submitting a Question

Do you have a question for our Production Team? [Ask Sideshow!]

Please Note: If you would like to submit a question using the form, please remember that Ask Sideshow should NOT be used as a way to solicit for a job, contact Customer Service, ask about a shipping date, or register a complaint. Most of those questions, comments, and solicitations can be most efficiently sent to us by filling out our online Customer Service Request Form.

Also, a fair warning: Questions that ask, “Will you be doing/Why don’t you do [insert license or character name]?” will probably never be answered. We’re happy to drop hints when we can, but we cannot answer any direct questions about what we’re planning in the future for a variety of reasons, which include (but are not limited to) licensing, production, artistic contracts, and ever-changing schedules and projected release dates. Please feel free to use the form for all these sorts of questions or quasi-suggestions, BUT don’t be offended when we don’t answer to your full satisfaction… or don’t answer at all – it’s not personal, we promise!
