8 Inch Action Figures (Carded)
Way back when Sideshow Collectibles was Sideshow Toy, the then boutique company was a resource group that specialized in prototyping many an action figure for some of the industries heavyweights. It wasn't long before Sideshow leaped at the opportunity to make their mark in the burgeoning action figure world, and when Universal Studios said "jump," Sideshow said "how high?"
Universal Studio's offering was the Classic Monsters. Not only was it a perfect fit for the Sideshow group, whom had a penchant for horror, but also these Monsters never really had been given justice in the collectible industry as a whole. The three most popular Classic Monsters turned out to be ...the three horror leaders of their day, Frankenstein, Mummy, and the Wolfman. The launch of Sideshow Toy's Universal Monsters action figures was so well received that the Boris Karloff Frankenstein figure won the coveted 1999 collectors choice award for "Best Action Figure." With such an overwhelming response, a second, third and fourth edition was sure to follow, and eventually a plethora of 12 inch figures.
And so was born the legacy of Sideshow, and it's entree' into the collectibles market.
