Sideshow To Join Forces With Renowned Creators Of Designer Vinyl Collectibles
Thousand Oaks, California (October, 2007) – Wheaty Wheat Studios (WWS) proudly announces their collaboration with Sideshow Collectibles on the production and distribution of WWS products. WWS specializes in designer vinyl collectibles (AKA: vinyl toys) while Sideshow Collectibles has advanced the art of re-creating our most beloved pop culture characters into collectible art. The joining of these two companies should now provide expanded opportunities for the underground artists and global collectors dedicated to the vinyl toy movement.
Designer Vinyl Collectibles (AKA: Vinyl Toys):
The genre of designer vinyl collectibles first started in Asia, centered in the metropolitan areas of Tokyo and Hong Kong as an affordable way to create and produce artwork in a sculpted form. The majority of designer vinyl collectibles are made with (as the name indicates) vinyl (i.e.: plastic) and because this material is relatively inexpensive to produce, these figures can be considered to some as “the poor man’s bronze.” Many of these vinyl toys are based on characters created by graphic designers, graffiti artists and illustrators. These designer vinyl collectibles are usually limited edition figures with a small production size that can range from 50 to 1000 pieces worldwide. The limited edition nature of these figures makes them extremely collectible and sometimes hard to find, which in turn makes their after-market value rise. The retail price for vinyl toys can range anywhere from $30 to $200 depending on the size of the figures and number of pieces produced. Designer vinyl collectibles are sold world wide at retailers that specialize in vinyl toys and pop culture lifestyle boutiques.

Wheaty Wheat Studios impressive code of craftsmanship and their uncanny ability to capture the unique style and character of their artists’ licenses is the reason why it stands high above the rest.
As well as its licensing division, WWS offers a total “turn key” service to their worldwide clients from prototyping to manufacturing. Their clients have come to depend on superior service and production knowledge based on many years of experience in the toy prototyping and manufacturing industry.
Richard VanOver states, “We are very excited to be joining forces with our long time friends at Sideshow Collectibles. For years I have admired their integrity and dedication to producing amazing high quality products. I’m honored to be working with a company that carries the same passion for what they produce as we do.”
Wheaty Wheat Studios is looking forward to the coming 2008 year: the collaboration with Sideshow Collectibles, the launch of WWS in-house designed toys and the continued success of Vinyl Toy Network (VTN).
