Q.I was thinking about a Davy Jones Premium Format… are there any plans?

Davy Jones has a lot of fans in the Sideshow office. Unfortunately, he’s been a slow seller for other collectible companies – which frightens us a bit because he’s such a complex character, demanding a big development investment. We’re determined to bring him to life in one format or another, which may mean we go [...]

Q.With you guys “taking a step back” from the Terminator franchise, does this mean we will not be seeing an original Terminator Premium Format anytime soon? -AND- I am a HUGE!!! Terminator fan, and I was wondering where you guys are in the production of a T1 Premium Format? Also, in my own opinion for a pose, I believe that a sculpt of the Nightclub scene with the uzi would be the most intriguing.

Woah, who said we’re taking a step back from the Terminator franchise?! Absolutely not true – we’re in full development on the statue and Premium Format lines, and recently announced the addition of the original Terminator film to our licensing portfolio.

Q.I love the new Conan diorama, it’s simply amazing! Any chance of any other Robert E. Howard characters like Solomon Kane or King Kull on your plate? Or perhaps Red Sonja, who is more a Marvel creation, but inspired by Mr. Howard’s works?

We’ve talked about them, but we’ve chosen to focus on Conan for the time being.

Q.Is there any chance that the upcoming Snake Eyes commando figure can include a cartoon accurate Timber as his exclusive accessory? The MASS Device miniseries showcased the wolf’s first appearance after all.

It’s highly possible…

Q.Are there any plans on releasing African-American versions of the Cobra Troops? That would be a great addition for “troop building.”

Great idea!

Q.Will you be making the faux-bronze version of the Carnotaurus?

Yes, it is available now!

Q.You’ve indicated recently that you’ll be focusing on Temple of Doom-themed Indy items in the near future. Does that mean there’s a strong chance of getting a 1:6th scale Temple of Doom Indy in his torn shirt outfit? And in addition to that, how likely is it for you to ever produce a Short Round figure, given his smaller scale which would require a whole new body sculpt? Temple of Doom Indy can’t go anywhere without his trusty sidekick!

Okay, you may want to sit down for this… We have indeed started development work on a Short Round figure in 1:6 scale. We’ll be taking it slow, developing Indy, SR, and other TOD characters for release a little further down the road – but we have commitments…

Q.Is a Blowtorch or Barbecue a character that Sideshow will consider realistic enough for 1:6th scale G.I. Joe? -AND- I really wanted to say that you guys are doing an awesome job on G.I. Joe. I just got the Cobra Throne, and it is easily the most startling item in my collection. And I’m looking forward to more of them. I have to ask, with the real world twist you apply to each character, will Joes that have bright colors like Blowtorch (a personal favorite of mine) be on your list? I’m curious how you’d adjust the colors.

Blowtorch made it to our planning, but has yet to find a ‘locked’ position in our development track. Our Creative Director, Tom Gilliland, has a serious soft spot for Blowtorch, thanks to his time working for Toys ‘R Us back in 1984-86. There was a kid that came every day to the store asking for [...]

Q.I was wondering, do you have plans to make a real bronze maquette of any of the releases in the Dinosauria line? If you do please let us know, so I save up for it!

We’ve flirted with the idea, but don’t have any current real bronze plans for Dinosauria.

Q.There is still a huge demand for the T2 1/4 Endoskeleton on the secondary market. Any hopes of making a 12-inch version or a reissue of the 1/4 scale version you put out in 2004? This is one piece I’m dying to have! Maybe you can make it better, like add an AC plug option and motion sensor that turns the eyes on.

It’s still a possibility that we’ll revisit the Endo in 1:4 scale, but not in 1:6 from Sideshow. Perhaps from Hot Toys – we’ll talk it over with them.

Q.When can we expect to see a Destro or Croc Master show up in your G.I. Joe line? And in what scale/version?

Destro is a lock for a late 2011 (or possibly early 2012) reveal, perhaps in two different formats at about the same time. Croc Master doesn’t have any definite plan, not yet.
