Star Wars Episode VII Screenwriter Announced!

Monday, November 12, 2012

We’ve been keeping our eye on StarWars.com and so should you, as they post regular video conversations from George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy, who is overseeing the production of the new movies for Disney. Today we got some more exciting news about what’s in store for the future of Star Wars films!

“As pre-production of Star Wars: Episode VII begins, Lucasfilm has confirmed that award-winning writer Michael Arndt will write the screenplay for the new Star Wars film. As revealed in the ongoing video series posted here on StarWars.com, Kathleen Kennedy and George Lucas have begun story conferences with Arndt. Arndt won an Academy Award® for Best Original Screenplay for writing Little Miss Sunshine (2006), and was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for writing Toy Story 3 (2010).” – StarWars.com

The new trilogy will focus on an older Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo, and rumors are everywhere that Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford may all be interested in reprising their roles.

The next big question on everyone’s mind: who will be hired to direct the new feature length chapters of the Star Wars saga? We can’t wait to find out!
