Today is Skynet’s Judgment Day!Thursday, August 29, 2013
Well, it was here… or rather might have been. What we’re trying to say is today marks the 16th anniversary of the day the artificial intelligence system Skynet became self-aware and launched an all out nuclear attack, according to Terminator 2. Were it not for the human Resistance, battling to avoid mankind’s extinction at the cold, steel hands of menacing cyborgs, it might have been “hasta la vista, baby” for us all.
So in honor of J-Day’s prevention, crank up the Guns n’ Roses and come with us if you want to see a few of our favorite Terminator must-haves!
“I’ll be back”
In the 1984 flagship film, Arnold Schwarzenegger gave one of his most iconic performances as the menacing Terminator, a role that earned him – and his Austrian accent – the spotlight of stardom.
Featuring expertly detailed costuming and a stunning likeness of Arnold’s steely eyed sneer, The Terminator Premium Format™ Figure is an outstanding representation of the villainous Skynet cyborg.
“Come with me if you want to live.”
Same make, same model - in 1991 the T-800 came back as promised, with a new mission to serve as John Connor’s lone warrior and protector in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Sideshow’s artists brought the T2 hero to life once again with the T-800 Statue, in a fully sculpted and hand-painted rendition for an outstanding centerpiece display.
“Not like me. A T-1000, advanced prototype.”
Composed of a mimetic poly-alloy, and capable of shapeshifting, mimicry and rapid reconstruction, the series T-1000 is one of the deadliest machines ever built.
While nowhere near as dangerous, the T-1000 Statue certainly captures the awe factor of the robotic assassin as portrayed by Robert Patrick, no problemo.
“Hasta la vista, baby.”
For the die-hard Terminator fan, it doesn’t get any better than this! Standing over 6 feet tall on a complex base of rubble and human skulls, the T-800 Endoskeleton Life-Size Figure Version 2.0 is the ultimate museum quality representation, for your home, theater, or office space dedicated to building a future free from human error.
“I need a vacation.”
During this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, we were proud to debut an upcoming release from the Terminator universe, the T-800 Battle Damaged Premium Format™ Figure. To celebrate our survival of Skynet, here’s a brand new sneak peek. A big molten steel-submerged thumbs up!
So today we rejoice, that machines in our lives are at worst an occasional frustration (looking at you, office printer), instead of a horrific superarmy. As the unknown future rolls toward us, we face it with a sense of hope… and geek-filled enthusiasm. In the words of Sarah Connor, “Every day from this day on is a gift. Use it well.”
