Q.Will you guys be making 1:6 Green Lantern (comic version that is)? Be the first to order it!

Certainly! We’re investigating a lot of cool ideas for accessories and have some rough concepts in the works. We hope to see you at the top of our list when it preorders!

Q.Hi, so happy you guys got the DC license! Just wanted to ask if you guys will ever do Premium Formats or statues of Alex Ross style Superman and Batman? Thank you for your time.

It’s a near certainty. We’re big Alex Ross fans, and he has made too big an imprint on DC to NOT represent him in our line at some point.

Q.How soon will we see a Wonder Woman Premium Format Figure, and will it be the classic costume or the new 52 style?

Wonder Woman is currently in sculpt, and is likely to see a big debut in late 2012. She’ll be wearing her classic costume for the first Premium Format, but may very well slip into her New 52 look in the future.

Q.We want a Premium Format Superman, but of Christopher Reeve specifically! Are there any contractual hurdles to using his likeness?

Fear not my friend, we’ve got it covered in the name of truth, justice and the American way. Keep your eyes on the Design & Development blog in the near future, we will have some Superman (and Reeve) updates coming your way.

Q.Hi Sideshow, I was wondering if you are working on your first female Legendary Scale Figure from Marvel yet? If you did a Mary Jane I’d be sooo happy!

Marvel lovelies are on our radar and coming soon. Meanwhile, from a whole different Universe,  keep a look out for Catwoman! She is fierce and she is close to the finish line. Meow.

Q.Will the DC license allow Sideshow to do characters from DC Universe Online? The designs of those DC characters are top notches from Mr. Jim Lee and his team. How about Brainiac, who donned a more heavy armored purple costume? I hope we’ll see a Premium Format and a 1:6 scale figure of the diabolical Brainiac please!

Indeed, and the artwork from DC Universe has already been utilized as inspiration for upcoming products, and mostly because of the excellent work Lee and his team did in rendering these characters for their 3D game models. We’re in love with the Brainiac designs too.

Q.When will we see the Batman 1:6 figures out for pre-order? I am particularly excited to get a glimpse of your Arkham Asylum version!

Arkham Asylum Sixth Scale figures will be available soon courtesy of Hot Toys. As for Sideshow’s Batman Sixth Scale figures, our comic-based versions will be unveiled next – look for them around the time of San Diego Comic-Con!

Q.Dear Sideshow, I am very excited that now Sideshow has the DC license to make us tons of superheroes and villains from the DC Universe, which has lots of awesome bad guys like AMAZO! Is there any plan to make an Amazo Premium Format displaying of his copied Justice League powers?

Amazo is a fun villain indeed, and definitely offers up a number of diverse looks for consideration. He’s on our minds, and likely to come after we give the due respect to some of the bigger names, like Luthor, Darkseid, and ol’ Starro.

Q.Are there any Watchmen in the pipeline? If so, who? And if not… pllleeeaaazzz!

When we looked up at Rorschach, wading through blood-filled gutters and mired in the midst of our foaming filth, and asked him to save us, he told us, ‘No.’ Then Batman and Superman showed up, freed us, gave us a shower and a shave, and sent us on our merry way. Those guys are cool. [...]

Q.Just picked up EVERYTHING Batman you have released… any chances on Cobblepot or Pfeiffer 1:6 to go with Keaton and Nicholson?

You are so on the money, pal! We’re dreaming the same way, and we’ll share your thoughts with Hot Toys too.

Q.I think you would sell more Marvel versus statues and dioramas, if you made them the same scale as the DC Direct versus, such as Superman vs Darkseid. Do you have any plans to do a line in that scale? Thor vs Loki or Destroyer; Thing vs Hulk (Marvel Masterpiece) or Hulk versus Abomination; Spiderman vs Venom with Spidy shooting a web; Iron Man (Modern Armor) vs Namor or Mandarin, Captain America in traditional costume (not World War I or movie version) vs Red Skull. By the way, would prefer to see Thor in his traditional costume with blue pants.

We love the diorama format too, and respect your point about size. On the whole, we’ve seen a bigger response to our larger, single character efforts like Premium Format, and smaller response to our diorama efforts. We’re evaluating reasons, designs, and more… but we will be devoting more time and attention to the Premium Format [...]

Q.I have heard that there will be a Premium Format Batman coming out and I wanted to know a release date. Also, who’s art will it be based on (Simon Bisley, Jim Lee, or Joe Mad)? Looking forward to your response, thanks!

Sideshow is deep in development on a mixed medium Premium Format Batman, largely from the minds of artist Martin Canale and our Creative Director, Tom Gilliland. It’s a fantastic, gritty representation of Batman that we feel is worthy of the character.
