Q.I’ve asked this question a few times and I’m still waiting for an answer! When are we going to see a 1:6 scale Mara Jade?

The answer is “not in 2012.” But believe us when we say that your enthusiasm is shared by our development team. It’s important for us to have the right approach for characters, including Mara, and we are on it. For example, when it comes to females (and other new body types) we are making leaps [...]

Q.Are we going to see the new Star Wars statue line anytime soon? Really looking forward to it!

You bet! Star Wars Mythos will make a premiere right here on Sideshow Experience, with a first preorder following shortly after. Look for it between now and San Diego Comic Con 2012.

Q.With the successful praise of your Premium Format Darth Maul with Mechanical Legs, do you think we might see him represented at 1:6th scale?

Man, your mind-reading powers are phenomenal. We’re in development… and it’s going to be AMAZING.

Q.I love the Clones! Any chance for a 1:6 scale Rex in Phase II armor?

Absolutely. His new look is phenomenal!

Q.Is it possible to start making name plates for the base of Star Wars Premium Formats, like you do with the LotR Premium Formats? I was pretty excited about the Aayla Secura until I saw the bland base it stands on. The bases for the LotR are on a whole different level and I think the other franchises would benefit from this. Thanks!!

You wouldn’t believe the internal arguments about name plates. While we agree that they can look really classy, as in the case of The Lord of the Rings line, they can also start to feel redundant. It usually comes down to design. If it can be incorporated in a subtle, complementary way, then yay! Otherwise [...]

Q.With Episode I being released in 3D in theaters in 2012, will there be any Episode I Sideshow representation? A 1:6 Jar Jar Binks or Anakin Skywalker would be very welcome, and it was said in the Indiana Jones Q&A that a 1:6 “kid” body was under development for Short Round that could be used for lil’ Annie.

We’re doing a LOT of work for release in 2012 that represents Phantom Menace very well, including the Battle Droids, Super Battle Droids, Destroyer Droids, and Obi-Wan. Our development on the Short Round has hit a snag, so the Annie likelihood may be a bit further off. But yeah, you can be sure there’ll be [...]

Q.Hello SSC, I love/collect your Star Wars 1:6 scale line, particularly the Jedi figures. BUT, one of my issues with them has always been the supposed “force” hands. They seem just like regular relaxed hands. SO my question is, is it possible for future Jedi figures (male and female) to have more open force hands that really make it seem like they’re actually using the force with some power behind it rather than just the Jedi mind-trick wave? For some more reference, look at the final battle Anakin vs Obi-wan scene in Episode III while they’re in the control station at Mustafar. Thanks!

Future Jedi figures will be entirely NEW releases. They’ll be more tricked out, and we’re working on some new ways to illuminate lightsabers, some things that look very promising. Force push hands, yup, check.

Q.Now that we have a 1:6 scale Bespin Luke, 1:6 Yoda and the Dagobah environment (all of which I have and absolutely LOVE), are there any plans to offer an accessory/expansion set that could be used to create Luke’s camp (crates, power source for R2, food trays backpack etc.)?

Hmm, fun idea! We’ll give it some serious thought! At the moment, we’re investing our creative energies into all things Bespin. Carbon Freeze Chamber, anyone?

You’ll be seeing the Snowtrooper in 2012!

Q.Is it possible you could find it in your hearts to create an alarming amount of Expanded Universe Sith PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE! Specifically for the 12-inch line? Most of all I would like to see Old Republic lords like Nihilus, Revan, Malak, Bane, Sion, etc. Not sure if you already have plans for any of these, or if you are ever going to make them but I’d love to know! Thanks!

Yes, truly and duly noted. It’s only a matter of time before we dive into the rich EU Sith stuff. We’re one foot in already, actually, if you count Darth Malgus. Oh, he’s AWESOME.

Q.Chewbacca…gotta keep asking. There isn’t a more iconic figure left to do in 1:6 scale! I know you were looking into further options, but c’mon!!! I want my 12″ (14″?) Chewbacca!

Oh, so very much agreed, and not at all forgotten. Keep asking it helps us keep pressure on the possibility. We want him too…

Q.You offered the Stormtrooper from Force Unleashed a couple of years ago. Just wondering if we will ever see a 1:6 Starkiller? I thought maybe with the release of Force Unleashed II this past fall but still waiting.

We’re still interested in doing the Starkiller, but we’re looking at other characters from Star Wars game titles at the moment. Especially the new MMO…
