With 815,000 square feet of exhibit space spread out over three floors, tens of thousands of fans, and 87 showstopping presentations, panels, and screenings to boot, the D23 Expo 2009 delivered a special brand of Disney magic. Just a quick stroll through the showroom floor might have put you face-to-face with the turtle from Main Street Electrical Parade, Cinderella’s carriage in all its post-pumpkin glory, the Galactic Empire’s elite Stormtroopers, a replica of Sleeping Beauty Castle — built by volunteers using more than 15,000 donated cans of food — or even the bandleader himself, Mickey Mouse.
