Q.Hi there, with the truly spectacular Conan: The Prize, and Conan Premium Format pieces, not to mention this year’s wonderful looking Vampirella Comiquette and Premium Format pieces, I was just wondering if there is any chance that you guys making a Red Sonja statue? There have been a few made over the years, I know, some even quite nice, but just like with Conan and Vampi, I believe that you fine folks at Sideshow could take the character to a whole new level, whether it be a Conan style diorama, or Vampi style PF or Comiquette. Just as there was room in the market for truly definitive Vampirella and Conan pieces, I think the same could also be said for Red Sonja – whether it be Marvel Comics inspired, Dynamire comics based, or your own artistic take on the character. Any chance? Thanks.

There’s definitely some RED on the horizon!

Q.Any news on when we are likely to see the next Conan piece from Sideshow? I know you stated previously that you have a few in development, but I need news like a barbarian needs blood on his blade. By the way, for future Conan releases can you please keep in mind that literary Conan has blue eyes, that missed detail was the only thing that kept The Prize from being absolutely perfect.

We agree. There are two pieces that are nearly finished sculptures, and one more that’s still in process. It’s a race to see which will be finished first, and when exactly we’ll be able to make the big reveal! Roger on the blue eyes for literary Conan.

Q.Hi, I’m a huge Conan fan(atic). The original Howard stories, the comics, and the movies, and the two Conan pieces that you guys have done so far are amongst your very best work in my opinion. Can we expect to see anymore Conan pieces from Sideshow this year? Last year’s The Prize was a masterpiece…even if Conan didn’t have blue eyes. By Crom, we need more Conan, Sideshow!

Absolutely, we have three Conan pieces currently in the sculpture phase, rather big and impressive compositions, including a new 1:4 scale piece. All are from the literature side, non-film.

Q.I love the new Conan diorama, it’s simply amazing! Any chance of any other Robert E. Howard characters like Solomon Kane or King Kull on your plate? Or perhaps Red Sonja, who is more a Marvel creation, but inspired by Mr. Howard’s works?

We’ve talked about them, but we’ve chosen to focus on Conan for the time being.

Q.I was wondering if there are currently any plans to extend the Conan line? I absolutely love the Premium Format figure, but I am interested to know if anything else will be done in perhaps a smaller scale?

YES! Beside the Conan’s Prize diorama, we will be bringing more movie and comic/book based products to life from the world of Conan.

Q.As for the Conan line, what’s next? The Conan Premium Format is killer! What about a Valeria PF to go with him, or Thulsa Doom on his throne…possibly with an alternate snake’s head? That would = AWESOME!

For the moment, we’re looking to the Conan literature and artwork for inspiration. We may return to the films for additional Conan products a little further down the road.
