Hi just wondering what is the point of having an Ask Sideshow when you only answer very few questions and it takes months to get these answers? Surely someone could free up a spare hour once a week to get through a lot more questions. Thanks.
We’ve been positively blown away at the interest our collectors take in Ask Sideshow! While we love the opportunity to give insight, sometimes there are questions we can’t answer completely, some we can’t answer at all, and some that even if we answered to the best of our abilities, the answer might change in the future anyway based on a number of factors.
Making collectibles is a series of lengthy and involved processes, every one of which our team spends great consideration on; designing and engineering prototypes, various stages of working with licensors for accuracy and approvals, manufacturing, packaging design and so forth. Every step of the way we must be prepared to make decisions that ultimately affect the quality, integrity and affordability of the final product. Keep in mind, at any one time we are involved in this process with around 100 items in various formats.
For the time being we’ll be publishing two answers daily, and we will continue to explore ways to give collectors glimpses at what’s going on behind the scenes through Sideshow Experience. But as you can see there’s a lot of other priorities on our plate! After all, you want answers or you want collectibles?
If you would like to submit a question using the form, please remember that Ask Sideshow should NOT be used as a way to solicit for a job, contact Customer Service, ask about a shipping date, or register a complaint. Most of those questions, comments, and solicitations can be most efficiently sent to us by filling out our online Customer Service Request Form.
Also, a fair warning: Questions that ask, “Will you be doing/Why don’t you do [insert license or character name]?” may never be answered. We’re happy to drop hints when we can, but we sometimes cannot answer direct questions about what we’re planning in the future for a variety of reasons, which include (but are not limited to) licensing, production, artistic contracts, and ever-changing schedules and projected release dates. Please feel free to use the form for all these sorts of questions or quasi-suggestions, but PLEASE don’t take offense if when we don’t answer to your full satisfaction… or don’t answer at all – it’s not personal, we promise!
