Why did we decide to do this license?
The imagery that makes up the Warhammer universe is both striking and immensely suitable for being pre-painted collectibles. Many of our design staff are Warhammer fans and the opportunity to do these figures with Games Workshop iwas a chance that we did not want to miss.
Why did you choose this particular range?
Space Marines are one of the most indicative images of the 40K universe. The Space Marines also make great pre-painted models. We kept range 1 all Space Marines as the background and imagery to them is so deep. There are a thousand chapters of Marines each with a thousand marines.
What else can we expect in this first range?
We will expand the range in 2 ways. 1) Producing different types of Marines for the chapters released in series 1. This will include Devastator Marines, with huge heavy weapons. And Assault Marines with ferocious chainswords and bolt pistol. The different Marines will be themed to a chapter; this will mean you get a great feel for how diverse the chapters can be. 2) We will also expand on the number of chapters to collect. The Space Maine imagery is rich and there are many chapters we plan to do.
Who designed and sculpted the models?
Jes Goodwin created the Space Marines. He is one of the world’s premier miniature designers. His creations for Games Workshop are pivotal in the incredible success of games like Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000. The detailing of these models was done by a new, up and coming freelance sculptor named Dave Thomas. He has worked for Games Workshop as a heavy metal painter and has sculpted models for the Wargames Foundry.
Are you going to do other models from the universe?
Good question. We want to make "Space Marines Warriors of the Imperium" a success before jumping ahead onto other things. If all goes well we may decide to look at other ranges like "Enemies of the Imperium" or "Hero’s of the Imperium" the choices are endless. Stay tuned and we will keep you all posted on future plans.
