Ewan McGregor Joins The Shining Sequel, Halloween ComicFest Announces Event Comics, and More!

According to Variety, actor Ewan McGregor will star as Danny Torrance in Warner Bros.’ upcoming adaptation of Doctor Sleep. Based on the novel of the same name, the film is a sequel to the horror classic The Shining, where the adult Danny Torrance reflects on the horrors of the Overlook Hotel. Doctor Sleep is currently scheduled to open in theaters on January 24th, 2020.


This week, Disney unveiled the first look at its upcoming animated adaptation of The Rocketeer at a French animation festival. The show appears to be animated in CGI rather than traditional hand-drawn style, and is aimed at a younger audience. The Rocketeer will air on Disney Junior sometime in 2019.


The official Halloween ComicFest has announced its full lineup of free comics for its worldwide event on October 27th. Publishers like Marvel, DC, Archie Comics, and more will make 34 different comics available to participating comic stores for this fall event. MTV is currently developing a live-action reboot of its animated series Aeon Flux, which originally ran in the 1990s. The series is set in a dystopian future state, where a young assassin teams up with a group of rebels to save humanity. Jeff Davis and Gale Anne Hurd will executive produce the drama, with Davis writing the script.
