Here are today’s headlines from the world of geek news.


Over the weekend, James Gunn tweeted a confirmation that Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 will hit theaters in 2020, although no specific release date was given. Marvel currently has three dates in 2020 set aside for new films in May, August, and November, and now Guardians 3 will be taking one of those slots.

Supergirl returns to the CW tonight, January 15, after its winter hiatus. In anticipation, the network has released some stills from the newest episode, featuring newcomer Braniac 5 along with the Legion of Super-Heroes. Supergirl will air for four weeks until trading its timeslot to Legends of Tomorrow starting February 12, and will continue airing new episodes beginning April 16.

AMC has officially renewed The Walking Dead, the hit zombie apocalypse series, for a ninth season that will premiere in fall 2018. Executive Producer Scott Gimple will be taking on the role of Chief Content Officer for the series, while longtime writer Angela Kang will take over as showrunner for The Walking Dead’s ninth season.

It’s alive! Or is it? According to Omega Underground, Bill Condon’s Bride of Frankenstein reboot may be revived and preparing to film sometime this year. The project is currently assembling a production crew while still searching for a lead actress to take on the role of the Bride herself.
