Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is currently king of the box office jungle after this weekend, topping $500 million worldwide and taking the top spot since its debut. It has officially overtaken Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which is still holding strong in third place at the box office behind Jumanji and Insidious: The Last Key.

The 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards took place on Sunday, January 7th in Beverly Hills, California. The ceremony honored the best in film and television from 2017, including Guillermo Del Toro for Best Director, Coco for Best Animated Film, Lady Bird for Best Motion Picture- Musical or Comedy, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri for Best Motion Picture- Drama.

Actress Frances McDormand and actor Gary Oldman took home awards for their acting in drama, while actress Saoirse Ronan and actor James Franco won for their acting in comedy. The evening also recognized a number of television shows including Big Little Lies, The Handmaid’s Tale, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which all received multiple accolades throughout the night.

Actor Vin Diesel is currently in talks to star in Sony’s upcoming Bloodshot comic book movie, based on the Valiant Entertainment superhero who develops special abilities thanks to nanites in his bloodstream. The Valiant film universe is set to kick off with an on-screen adaptation of Harbinger, in which Bloodshot would be introduced before receiving his own film.

Showtime president and CEO David Nevins has confirmed that a television series based on the Halo video game franchise is, “still in very active development.” Steven Spielberg is the executive producer on the project, which is going to be filmed in a live action format, exploring the mythology of the Halo universe.
