Geek Headlines- More Fox Cancellations, the Sharknado 6 Premiere, a G.I. Joe Snake Eyes Spinoff, and More!

In the wake of this week’s Fox programming shakeup, the network has decided to cancel its supernatural drama Lucifer after three seasons. In its place, Fox has made a pilot-to-series order for the vampire drama The Passage, which is based on Justin Cronin’s fantasy book trilogy. There is no release date set for The Passage yet.


Syfy has announced releases dates for new several summer premieres. Season 3 of Wynonna Earp and Season 4 of Killjoys will both launch on July 20th. Sharknado 6, the time-traveling final installment of the franchise, will debut on August 19th at the end of the network’s special Sharknado Week.


Sony Pictures Entertainment has announced release dates for two of its upcoming films. The action comedy Bad Boys for Life, which stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, will open in theaters on January 17th, 2020. The Fred Rogers film You Are My Friend starring Tom Hanks will open on October 18th, 2019.


According to the Hollywood Reporter, the popular G.I. Joe character Snake Eyes will be starring in his own spin-off film. The film is reportedly being developed by Paramount Pictures, and is in talks with a screenwriter to pen the script. There are no further details about the Snake Eyes film at this time.


Starz has announced that the series Outlander has been renewed for a fifth and sixth season. Season 4 is currently filming, but is set to premiere in November of this year. The time-travel drama is based on a series of novels, and each 12-episode season will cover a single installment of the franchise.
