Matt Smith Joins Star Wars: Episode IX Cast, New Trailer for Bad Times at the El Royale, and More!

Actor Matt Smith, of Doctor Who fame, has just been cast in Star Wars: Episode IX. Details of his part are not yet known, although the reports say that Smith will have a key role in the trilogy-capping film. Directed by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: Episode IX will open in theaters on December 20th, 2019.


Actor Alec Baldwin has just been cast in Todd Phillip’s Joker movie, which is currently in development at Warner Bros. He will reportedly play the supporting role of Thomas Wayne, a Gotham City philanthropist and father to Bruce Wayne. Previously announced cast includes Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, along with Robert De Niro, Marc Maron, and Zazie Beetz.


20th Century Fox has released a new trailer for its upcoming noir thriller Bad Times at the El Royale. The film follows seven mysterious strangers who meet at the El Royale hotel over the course of a single night. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Jeff Bridges, Dakota Johnson, and Jon Hamm. Bad Times at the El Royale opens in theaters on October 12th.

Netflix has just signed a multi-year deal with Alex Hirsch, the creator of the popular Disney animated series Gravity Falls. Under the agreement, Hirsch will exclusively develop new television and feature films for Netflix, focusing on the streaming service’s slate of animated adult comedies.
