Top Gun: Maverick Release Delayed, Hulu Orders Solar Opposites Animated Series, and More!

Paramount Pictures has announced a delay in the release of Top Gun: Maverick. The sequel to the popular 1986 film will now release in June 2020, rather than its original July 2019 date. Top Gun: Maverick stars Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, and more.


Hulu has released the official trailer for its upcoming drama series The First, starring Sean Penn. In the series, Penn leads a crew of astronauts who are attempting to become the first humans on Mars. The show was developed by House of Cards creator Beau Willimon. All episodes of The First will premiere on Hulu on September 14th.

Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland has just signed a two-season series order with Hulu for a new animated series called Solar Opposites. This sci-fi sitcom follows the story of aliens living in America’s heartland, trying to decide if the planet is awful or awesome. Solar Opposites won’t debut on Hulu until 2020.


HBO has announced the US premiere date of Miss Sherlock, a Japanese Sherlock Holmes drama. Originally produced for HBO Asia, the series puts a spin on the classic characters, making Sherlock and Watson a pair of Japanese women in modern-day Tokyo. The 8-episode first season debuts on HBO Go in September 1st.
